1. Greenland

My journey started in Greenland, so called on account of its extensive pastures. It's the largest island on earth after Australia. It is four times bigger than France. Greenland, which is covered by the world's second largest ice cap, is a gigantic adventure playground. There are hundreds of kilometres of arid, austere and unforgiving terrain as well as splendid landscapes, rich in minerals. There's little wildlife, no trees, but a desert of stone, snow and ice. I saw beguiling landscapes, every bit as wonderful as those landscapes I had dreamed of as an adult and a child. The scale, the immenseness, the silence, the power and the absence of human life - this is how I would best sum up Greenland.

2. After the snow, a riot of color

In the spring, no sooner has the snow melted than we see the emergence of the first small flowers. The flora gradually covers and colors the upper slopes of the mountains. In the past, man sought to discover the origin of these plants, which survive in conditions that no human could endure, and to understand how they worked.
