L:No.We’ll be working.

S:Your store will be open on the Fourth?

L:Yes,We really need the money.

L:Right.To buy things for their parties.

S:It’s too bad you have to work,though.

J:Hi,Scott.

S:Would you like to try my Independence Day special?

M:Sure.Thanks.

J:So have you tried your new grill yet?

S:Not yet.But I could make us some chicken for dinner.Do you two have dinner plans tonight?

J:No,we don’t.A barbecue would be great.Thanks, Scott.

S:I think I’ll invite Greg and Liz.Liz told me they have to work on the Fourth.

(2) M:That’s too bad!

S:I know.So I was just thinking we could have a little pre-Fourth of July barbecue right here tonight.

J:Good idea!I even have a few firecrackers!

S:Great!I’ll go invite Greg and Liz.

M:I wish we could watch some fireworks.Do you think Greg and Liz will

be able to see the fireworks from here on July 4?

J:Probably.

(3) M:It’s too bad Greg and Liz can’t go to the parade,either.

J:Well,we can have our own little Fourth of July parade!

M:What?Uh,maybe that could be a one-person parade,Jeff.

S:Yeah,most people can’t play the trumpet without a real trumpet.

G:Oh,yeah?Listen to this!

L:Well,who needs to go to Tampa on the Fourth?We have our own parade right here.
