【Abstract】

We can learn from the film about the life of people, ideas and values.Through the movie, the viewer can learn different countries people's life style and their attitude towards life.The American film Forrest gump gave us a very deep impression.Because of Gump’s legendary experience of life.Through the film, we learned the generation of ideas and values in the United States.The purpose of this paper is to analysis the movie "Forrest gump" reflected in the American ideology and values, including the American dream and American optimism.

What is the "American dream"?That dream of a land in which life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone is an original concept of American dream engraved i n many people’s mind. However, with the development of culture and value, its perceptions are increasingly deepened. There are two ways to illustrate the American dream:in the broad sense, it means "democracy, freedom, equality". In the narrow sense, it means one can succeed through one's own effort. It's a belief in the freedom that allows all citizens and residents of the United States to pursue their goals in life through hard work. America is the land of opportunity. If I work hard enough, I can be whatever I want to be. If I truly want something I can get it.
