一、回答问题
Father’s Day
The third Sunday in June is Father’s Day. It’s a day to show love and respect for fathers.
Mrs. John B. Dodd of Washington, the USA, first suggested the idea of a Father’s Day in 1909. Mrs. Dodd wanted a special day for her father, Willian Smart. Mr. Smart’s wife died in giving birth to her sixth child. After that, Mr. Smart had to bring up the newborn baby and his other five children by himself. Mr. Dodd realized her father’s selflessness as a single paarent. She sugeested that there should be a Father’s Day for all the loving fathers.
On 19 June 1910, people celebrated the First Fther’s Day in Washington. After that, in a lot of cities across the USA, many other people also began to celebrate Fther’s Day. Finally in 1966, President Lyndon Johnson claimed the third Sunday in Juneas Fther’s Day.
Father’s Day has now become a day to honor not only fathers, but all men who act as fathers, stepfathers, uncles and grandfathers are all honored on Fther’s Day.
On Father’s Day, some children give parents to their fathers to show their thanks. And fathers will certainly be happy to know that their children love them.

What are comics and graphic novels?
Most people know what a comic is --- for example, the short row of boxes filled with drawings called a comic strip at the bottom of a newspaper page or a magazine, or comic boos filled with the colourful adventures of different characters, whatever the type, comics are made up of pictures that tell a story. Comics are sometimes called “sequential art”, because the pitures go in a particular order.
The pictures in a comic always have things in common, such as the same characters or settings. However, a few things from one picture to the next, such as the position of a character. The arrangement of the pictures helps readers to follow what is changing between one picture and the next. This helps readers to follow the story. The pictures uauslly have words within or right next to them to help explain the action.
Graphic novels are simply comics planned as longer books. They often have a more complicated story that moves between different settings. Usually, graphic novels include many more characters than shorter comics. Some of the pictures may be very detailed and can take up a whole page. Sometimes graphic novels include many short stories or comic strips that have the same characters.
Comic book characters often have features that are easy to recognize. These things may be funny faces, or phrases that the characters say all the time.
