听力文稿:
(Text 1)
W: Sam met Jane seven years ago when he was 22 years old.
M: Jane was only two years younger than Sam, but she seemed much younger.
(Text 2)
M: I'm going to play football tomorrow.
W: Should you be playing right away after you got over that leg injury?
(Text 3)
M: Well. I haven't seen you since our graduation. How are
things going with you?
W: Not bad. I'm my own boss now.
(Text 4)
W: Do you want your son to be a dancer?
M: Not really. I expect him to manage my store when I retire. (Text 5)
W: I can't believe the Christmas holidays are almost over. They went by so fast.
M: You said it. I have the same feeling.
(Text 6)
M: Excuse me. I'm looking for Park Street.
W: Park Street? It isn't far from here. Just keep walking up this street. Turn left at the first corner, go straight ahead and
turn left again and in front of you is the Park Street.
M: Thank you. I'm looking for a bank.
W: There are lots of banks on Park Street. Do you want to
change your money?
M: Yes. Which bank do you suggest?
W: You could try the New City Bank. It's next to the big
church.
M: And is there a post office near here?
W: Yes. See that big new shopping center? There is one on the first floor.
M: Oh, thank you very much.
W: You are welcome.
(Text 7)
W: Look. Jack! That man fell off the ladder. Come and help!
He must be injured.
M: He's not moving. Shall we take him to the hospital?
W: We mustn't move him. Leave him where he is.
M: We must get help. I'll go to that phone box and call the First
Aid Center.
W: Right. I'll stay here with him.
M: How is he now?
W: He's still not moving, but he's breathing. His head must be hurt.
M: The First Aid Center says they are coming soon.
W: Let's wait until help comes. Look, there they come!
(Text 8)
W: How have your two sons been doing at school lately, Andy?
M: Terrible! James never starts learning, and Malcolm never
stops learning.
W: You're joking, of course. I hear that Malcolm is likely to
win all the prizes in the exams this year.
M: Yes, so his teachers say. He has always been working very hard. He wants to go to Oxford University next year.
M: Maybe. But I think he studies too hard. I sometimes wish
he'd go out and enjoy himself for a change.
W. Yes. What about the younger one?
M: Well, Jame's teachers say that he is clever, but he hardly does his best. In other words, he's not bad when he makes an effort, but he's too lazy. He does his homework in ten minutes every evening and then rushes out to play tennis.
W: He's crazy about tennis, isn't he? Perhaps he can make his
fortune at it. You can make more money from sport than
other jobs these days.
M: So I believe. But my wife always worries about the children's future. She wants James to give up tennis and study law.
(Text 9)
M: Jane, I hear that you are leaving school now. What do you
want to do? Have you made up your mind yet?
W: No, not yet. But I think I'm going to take up singing.
M: Any special reasons?
W: Yes. It's because I am good at singing songs. All my classmates say so. Besides, singing is quite interesting, and
you will meet a lot of audience.
M: And you will have to please them too.
W: Well, you do it in any job, don't you?
M: And what do your parents think about it?
W: They don't quite agree to my idea. That's the only trouble.
M: Yes. Urn... my parents try to send me to an art college
because they want me to be an actor.
W: Then what will you do?
M: Well... I haven't decided yet. But I usually get my own way in the end.
(Text 10)
Rainforests are important places for people and animals.
There are different kinds of rainforests. Some are high in the mountains and others are near the sea. In the last forty
years, humans have destroyed half of the earth's rainforests.
Rainforests are home to about fifty million people. There are also millions of animals, plants and insects that live there.
When we destroy the rainforests, people will lose their homes and thousands of species of animals and plants will disappear. Once these animals and plants disappear, we will never see them again.
The weather in the rainforest is hot all year round. The weather is always wet, too.
The Amazon rainforest is about a hundred million years old,
and has more species of animals and plants than any other
place on earth. People have now cut down much of this rainforest to plant coffee and sugar。
