Table manners are how to behave when you eat a meal. They include how to handle knives and forks and how to eat in a civilized manner. The world's largest travel and digital publisher, Lonely Planet has gather manners tips. It warns of careless mistakes you should avoid at table. Here is an example:

Eating in Japan. It is "perfectly" okay to slurp (make a noise while drinking something) when you eat noodles. Unlike making big noises, slurping mildly is not rude but is a compliment to the chef. Japanese also say it tastes better if you slurp. It's important to say traditional phrases of thanks before and after a meal. Eat sushi whole. Dip the fish part rather than the rice into soy sauce.

Eating in Russia. Your wrists should be placed on the edge of the table while eating, fork in left hand, knife in the right. Leave some food on your plate to show that the host has given you enough to eat. Or the host will ask if you'd like to have a second helping. It's polite to absorb excess (more than is needed) sauce or gravy (juices from cooking meat) with bread.

Paying attention to table manners not only celebrates fun of getting together but shows respect to others.

Self – discipline

An elderly carpenter was ready to retire. He told his employer his plans to leave the house building business and live a more leisurely life with his wife enjoying his extended family. The employer was sorry to see his good worker go and asked if he could build just one more house as a personal favor. The carpenter said yes, but in time it was easy to see that his heart was not in his work. He resorted to shoddy workmanship and used inferior materials. It was an unfortunate way to end his career. When the carpenter finished his work and the employer came to inspect the house and handed the front-door key to the carpenter. "This is your house," he said, "my gift to you."

What a shock! What a shame! If he had only known he was building his own house, he would have done it all so differently. Now he had to live in the home he had built none too well.

So it is with us. Think of yourself as the carpenter. Each day you hammer a nail, place a board, or erect a wall. Build wisely. It is the only life you will ever build. Your life tomorrow will be the result of your attitudes and the choices you make today.
