Break-Away Feature

Loss Motion Feature

Per Full Thread CTS 1.3.1.
– – – As the cover is rotated 90°, the ribs of the cover make contact with the race driving the housing from the filler neck and the torsion spring is loaded allowing the cover to return after the fuel cap is installed to the filler neck. Provides crash protection to the fuel system by allowing the vehicle body panels to rotate the cover 90° without un-camming the fuel cap. U.S. Patent 5449086 and 5395004.

• Chlorination – surface hardness the nitrile to remove the stickiness of the untreated material. • Molycoat – short term treat for friction on the main seal ( wears off and is mostly an assembly aid)and used on the valve seals to reduce valve sticking ( fuel washes the treatment off ). • RFN treatment ( Reduced Friction by Nanotechnology)- medias are chemically and mechanically bonded to the material to generate surface with low friction. • Other treatments • PTFE ( Teflon ) – has issues with wear. • ParkerSlick – improvement over PTFE, but still has wear issue.
