A Good Student
A good student is the one who develops comprehensively in morality, intelligence, physique, appreciation and labor. Morality means a good student is supposed to bear essential virtues commonly recognized by a society or a community; intelligence indicates that such a student ought to develop much intelligently in order to tackle potential challenges on their own; in terms of physique, a good student is expected to do regular exercise to keep fit so that he is able to play his role in social and cultural development; and a good student should develop his own aesthetic values and keep himself well aware of what’s beautiful and what’s ugly, too; what’s more, a good student should be one who will never hate labor and is fond of such participation.
For example, Susan is a good student, developing herself comprehensively. Subsequently, we’d like to introduce her one-day life. She pays much attention to her physical health, getting up early, keeping a healthy and balanced diet, and doing exercise appropriately. Then, she starts he well-planned study trip, going to the library, reading and getting good grades. Besides, she casts her eyes on the combination of the study and relaxation. She goes to a beautiful garden, breathing fresh air, appreciating the fantastic view there and having a thorough taste of nature after one day’s industrious study. As she wandering along the lake, she has a sight of lots of rubbish and pick them up, sprouting the idea of
being an environment in her rest of life. Therefore, the journey of her one-day study gives us a panorama of a good student. As we all know too, Leonardo Da Vinci is an excellent painter, scientist, mathematician, engineer and prophet, etc. When he was a child, he was diligent and really interested in almost every field. As time went by, he continued to learn and explore the unknown world. It is owing to this development that makes him a versatile person.
Yet, on the other hand, Bill Gates is regarded as a successful businessman, not a good student. He dropped out of Harvard University and didn’t finish his study career. As Hitler was a child, he was a good student. But when his parents didn’t satisfy his demands, he became a street-loafer. At last, he made a big mistake. Genuinely, both of Bill Gates and Hitler are not good students.
The five factors explained above are the fundamental norms for judging whether a student is good or not, and also the ultimate aim of social education. Without those fundamental elements, social education means nothing. Past experience suggests that students who spend most of their time only on study will cause physical or psychological problems. The existence of these students is a potential threat for the society and a barrier of social harmonious development. In conclusion, explained are what can make a good student. They are a significant foundation not only for students themselves but also for the development of social education.
