Brief Introduction of Experiments

To meet the strategic requirement of expanded professionals in the 21st century, the faculties in our lab have developed series of high quality chemical engineering unit experimental installations by long year’s efforts to overcome large number of technical problems. These installations include fluid flow, Centrifugal Pump, plate-and-frame type filtration and dynamic filtration, heat transfer, desorption of oxygen, distillation, fluidization drying, climbing film evaporation, falling film evaporation, membrane distillation et al. These installations are with the characters of novelty, distinctive configurations, attractive appearance, easily operated, good data reproduction, so they are very helpful to the students for their thinking enlightened, scope widened and ability improved and the teaching contents are enriched, the teaching effect is very satisfactory. So far our experimental installations have been adopted by over 40 universities and Institutes. In July, 2004, these series experimental installations passed the authentication program sponsored by the National Ministry of Education. The experts of authentication committee draw the conclusion that the accomplishment of this project (the development of novel chemical engineering unit experimental installations) has opened up new field of chemical engineering unit experimental installations for their automation, informatization and multifunctization. The research results are in the lead position among the similar installations within the county even in the globe they are also advanced. In Sept,2005, the chemical engineering principals course construction program in our university has won the second prize of the national teaching achievements which took our development of novel installations as a main part.

Fluid flow Experiment:

Rang of use:

(1)Measuring the friction resistance coefficient of both the smooth pipeline and

the rough pipeline under both the laminar flow and turbulent flow conditions

(2) Measuring the local friction resistance coefficient of cut-off valve, ball valve

and pipeline sudden enlargement

Main constituent Part:

(1) one stainless steel centrifugal pump;

(2) one instrument control cabinet;

(3) one orifice flow meter

(4) one stainless steel cistern

(5) Temperature sensors , pressure sensors and corresponding digital gauge

(6) a suit of on-line data acquisition software (For windows)

Centrifugal Pump Experiment:

Rang of use:

(1) Measuring the performance characteristics curves of centrifugal pumps at fixed pump rotating speed, which include the curves of head of delivery, power and effciency

(2) Measuring the performance characteristics curves of the pipeline

(3) Demonstrating the pump cavitation erosion
