So throw any rubbish in there and not out of the window. And finally, please, don’t make too much noise. 2016

This population consists of birds, bats frogs, snakes, etc. For example, outdoor lighting severely affects migrating(迁徙的)birds.According to the International Dark-Sky Association. “100 million birds a year throughout North America die in crashes with lighted buildings and towers.”Countless more animals casualties(伤亡)result from the use of artificial lighting.Clearly, people enjoy the benefits of lighting their evenings, but some scientists think it can be harmful for humans, too. They worry that exposure to light while sleeping can increase person’s chances of getting cancer.Emerald Valley is only one community that is becoming aware of the negative effects of hight pollution. For years,Flagstaff,Arizona, has enforced lighting regulations in its city in order to assist astronomers at the Lowell Observatory.Similar efforts have been made worldwide, and a movement is underway to remind us to turn off lights when we are not using them,so that other creatures can share the night.22)It happened last night thatA.the city’s lights affected the meteor watchingB.the meteors flew past before being noticedC.the city light show attracted many peopleD.the meteor watching ended up a social outing42.What do the astronomers complain about?A.Meteor showers occur less often than beforeB.Their observation equipment is in poor repairC.Light pollution has remained unsolved for yearsD.Their eyesight is failing due to artificial lighting43.What the author concerned about according to Paragraph 4?A.Birds may take other migration pathsB.Animal’living habits may change suddenlyC.Varieties of animals will become sharply reducedD.Animals’survival is threatened by outdoor lighting44.Lighting regulations in Flagstaff,Arizona are put into effect toA.Lessen the chance of getting cancerB.create an ideal observation conditionC.ensure citizens a good sleep at nightD.enable all creatures to live in harmony45.What message does the author most want to give us?A.Saving wildlife is saving ourselvesB.Great efforts should be made to save energyC.Human activities should be environmentally friendlyD.New equipment should be introduced for space studyC.Poet William Stafford once said that we are defined more by the detours(绕行路)in life that by the narrow road toward goals.I like this image. But I as quite by accident that I discovered the deep meaning of his words. For years we made the long drive from our home in Seattle to my parents’ home in Boise in nine hours. We traveled the way most people do:the fastest, shortest easiest road, especially when ai was alone with fournoisy, restless kids who hates confinement(限制)and have strong opinions about everything.Road trips felt risky,so I would drive fast, stopping only when I had to.We would stick to the freeways and arrive tired. But then Banner, our lamb was born.He was rejected by his mama days before our planned trip to Boise.I had two choices:leave Banner with my husband,or take him with me.My husband made the decision for me.That is how I found my self on the road with four kids,a baby lamb and nothing but my everlasting optimism to see me through. We took the country roads out of necessity. We had to stop every hour, let Banner shke out his legs and feed him.The kids chased him and one another. They’d get back in the car breathless and energized, smelling fresh from the cold air.We explored side roads, catching grasshoppers in waist-high grass.Even if we simply looked out of the car windows at baby pigs following their mother,or fish leaping out of the water,it was better than the best ride down the freeway. Here was life. And new horizons(见识).We eventually arrived at my parents’doorstep astonishingly fresh and full of storiesI grew brave with the trip back home and creative with my disciplining technique. On an empty section of road, everyone started quarreling.I stopped the car, ordered all kids out and told them to meet me up ahead.I parked my car half a mile away and read my book in sweet silence. Some road trips are by necessity fast and straight. But that trip with Banner opened our eyes to a world available to anyon adventurous enough to wander around and made me realize that a detour may uncover the best part of a journey----and the best part of yourself.46.Why did the author use to take freeways to her parents’home?A.It was less timeB.It would be faster and saferC.Her kids would feel less confinedD.She felt better with other drivers nearby47.The author stopped regularly on the country roads toA.relax in the fresh airB.take a dep breathC.take care of the lambD.let the kids play with Banner48.What does the author discover from the trip according to Paragraph 6?A.Freeways are where beauty hides.B.Getting close to nature adds to the joy of lifeC.Enjoying the beauty of nature benefits one’s healthD.One should follow side roads to watch wild animals49.Why did the author ask the kids to get out of the car on their way back home?A.To give herself some time to readB.To order some food for themC.To play a game with them.D.To let them cool down50.What could be the best title for the passage?A.Charm of the DetourB.The Road to BraveryC.Creativity out of NecessityD.Road trip and Country LifeD.When asked about happiness,we usually think of something extraordinary, an absolute delight, which seems to get rarer the older we get.For kids, happiness has a magical quality.Their delight at winning a race or getting a new bike is unreserved(毫不掩饰的).In the teenage years the concept of happiness changes.Suddenly it’s conditional on such things as excitement, love and popularity.I can still recall the excitement of being invited to dance with the most attractive boy at the school party. In adulthood the things that bring deep joy----love,marriage,birth----also bring responsibility and the risk of loss. For adults, happiness is complicated(复杂的)My definition fo happiness is “the capacity for enjoyment”.The more we can enjoy what we have, the hap pier we are. It’s easy to overlook the pleasure we get from the company of friends, the freedom to live where we please, and even goo health.I experienced my little moments of pleasure yesterday.First I was overjoyed when I shut the last lunch-box and had the house to myself. Then I spent an uninterrupted morning writing, which I love. When the kids and my husband came home,I enjoyed their noise after the quiet of the day.Psychologists tell us that to be happy we need a mix of enjoyable leisure time and sat isfying work.I don’t think that my grandmother, who raised 14 children, had much of either. She did have a network of close friends and family, and maybe this is what satisfied her. We,however, with so many choices and such pressure to succeed in every area, have turned happiness into one more thing we’ve got to have. We’ve so self-conscious about our “right” to it that it’s making us miserable. So we chase it and equal it with wealth and success, without noticing that the people who have those things aren’t necessarily happierHappiness isn’t about what happens to us----it’s about how we see what happens to us.It’s the skillful way of finding a positive for every negative. It’s not wishing for what we don’t have, but enjoying what we do possess.51.As people grow older, theyA.feel it harder to experience happinessB.associate their happiness less with othersC.will take fewer risks in pursuing happinessD.tend to believe responsibility means happiness52.What can we learn about the author from Paragraph 5 and 6?A.She cares little about her own healthB.She enjoys the freedom of travelingC.She is easily pleased by things in daily lifeD.She prefers getting pleasure from housework53.What can b informed from Paragraph 7?A.Psychologists think satisfying work is key to happinessB.Psychologists’opinion is well proved by Grandma’caseC.Grandma often found time for social gatheringsD.Grandma’s happiness came from modest expectations of life54.People who equal happiness with wealth and successA.consider pressure something blocking their wayB.stress then right to happiness too muchC.are at a loss to make correct choicesD.are more likely to be happy55.What can be concluded from the passage?A.Happiness lies between the positive and the negativeB.Each man is the master of his own fateC.Success leads to happinessD.Happy is he who is content四、阅读表达My name is Clara.I still remember that chilly December day, sitting in science class.I’d finished a worksheet early and picked up a TIME for Kids magazine. A piece of news caught my eye:NASA was holding an essay contest to name its Mars rover(火星探测器).Before I even knew anything else about it,a single word flooded my 11-year-old mind,Curiosity.I couldn’t want for the bell to ring so I could get started on my essay. That afternoon,I raced home, sat do wn at the computer, and typed until my fingers ached. “Curiosity is an everlasting flame that burns in everyone’s mind...”Five months later, my mon received a phone call, and immediately, a wide smile spread across her face.On August 5,2012,at 10:31 p.m,the rover named Curiosity touched down safely on the surface of Mars, and I was honored to have a front-row seat in NASA.Curiosity is such an important part of who I am.I have always been fascinated by the stars, the planets, the sky and the universe. I remember as a little girl,my grandmother and I would sit together in the backyard forhours. She’d tell me stories and point out the stars,Grandma lived in China, thousands of miles away from my home in Kansas, but the stars kept us together even when we were apart. They were always there, yet there was so much I didn’t know about them. That’s what I love so much about space.People often ask me why we go to faraway places like Mares. My answer is simple because we’re curious. We human beings do not just hole up in one place. We are constantly wondering and trying to find out what’s over the hill and beyond the horizon.56.How did Clara get the new about the essay contest?( no more than 10 words)57.Why did Clara have a front-row seat in NASA?( no more than 10 words)58.What does Clara remember about the time spent with Grandma?( no more than 15 words)59.What does the underlined phrase “hole up”mean?(1 word)60.In your opinion, why is curiosity important?( no more than 20 words)五、书面表达61.假设你是某大学的学生李津,你校英语俱乐部将选举新一届副主席,负责规划、组织俱乐部的相关活动,你欲参选,请按以下提示,写一篇竞选演讲稿。

It will greatly increase your chances of survival (生存). Many people think that preparing necessary equipment and knowing how to use it are very important, but actually eightypercent of mountain survival is your reaction to fear.Find a hiding place.Unnecessary labor will make you sweat and make you cold. Find a hiding place around you before trying to start your own construction. If you are in a snow-covered area, you may be able to dig a cave in deep snow for protection from the wind. You should try to hide yourself in the middle of the mountain if possible. Stay out of the valleys — cold air falls, and the valley floor can be the coldest area on the mountain.Signal rescuers for help. The best time to signal rescuers is during the day. Signal for help from the highest point possible — it will be easier for rescuers to see you, and any sound you make will travel farther. If you take a box of matches and a space blanket (a special blanket for traveling), build three smoky fires and put your blanket — gold side facing out — on the ground.Do not walk away.It will make finding you more difficult, as search teams will be trying to follow your path and may miss you if you have gone off in a different direction. Searchers often end up finding a car with no one in it.If you get frostbite (冻伤), do not rewarm the affected area until you’re out of danger. You can walk on frostbitten feet, but once you warm the area and can feel the pain, you will not want to walk anywhere. Try to protect the frostbitten area and keep it dry until you are rescued.36. When lost in the mountains, you can increase your chances of survival if you ____.A. take a space blanket with youB. do more physical laborC. try to find a car immediatelyD. walk as far as possible to find help37. According to the passage, people most probably fail to survive if they ____.A. do not take enough equipmentB. stay in the middle of the mountainC. do not keep themselves warmD. stay in a snow-covered area38. What can we infer from the passage?A. Don’t travel by yourself.B. Mountain traveling is dangerous.C. Don’t get frightened in danger.D. Avoid going to unfamiliar places.BAt a few minutes past five, Dave noted that the blanket of darkness was lifting. He was just able to make out the heavier masses that eventually appeared as the familiar trees that lined the road at the base of the hill. The upper reaches of the sky showed lighter shades of gray.Dave got out of bed quietly and dressed quickly. He mixed a spoonful of instant chocolate into a glass of cold water, and his impatience forced him to finish the drink in gulps. As he walked down toward the lake, Dave paused to reach for the fishing pole and gear box on the bench where he had left them the night before.By the time he reached the small boat, a thick white mist (雾气) had spread over the surface of the water. He stepped into the boat, sat down, and rowed out of the weed beds that lined the edge of the shore. The outer fringe (边缘) of the lake disappeared as the boat moved forward noiselessly. All he could see was the enveloping whiteness. He could not tell where the boat and the surrounding air met the surface of the lake.Dave rowed steadily ahead, relying on a mental picture of the surroundings. Then the mist began to rise, slowly. It soon rested inches above the still surface of the lake. The heavy silence was now being broken by the fish breaking through the surface as they leaped out of the water for low-flying insects. The magic time had arrived. Dave raised his pole. Dawn was broken. He was excited with expectancy.39. Dave got up early in the morning to ____A. enjoy the scene of the lakeB. seek adventure at the lakeC. go fishing in the lakeD. take a walk by the lake40. Dave was hopeful of catching a lot of fish.B. Dave wished the weather would be better.C. Dave was happy that dawn was broken.D. Dave expected someone else would come.CSome children are natural-born bosses. They have a strong need to make decisions, manage their environment, and lead rather than follow. Stephen Jackson, a Year One student, “operates under the theory of what’s mine is mine and what’s yours is mine,” says his mother. “The other day I bought two new Star Wars light sabers (剑). Later, I saw Stephen with the two new ones while his brother was using the beat-up ones.”“Examine the extended family, and you’ll probably find a bo ssy grandparent, aunt, uncle or cousin in every generation. It’s an inheritable trait,” says Russell Barkley, a professor at the Medical University of South Carolina. Other children who may not be particularly bossy can gradually gain dominance (支配地位) when they sense their parents are weak, hesitant, or in disagreement with each other.Whether it’s inborn nature or developed character at work, too much control in the hands of the young isn’t healthy for children or the family. Fear is at the root of a lot of bossy behavior, says family psychologist John Taylor. Children, he says in his book From Defiance to Cooperation, “have secret feelings of weakness” and “a desire to feel safe.” It’s the parents’ role to provide that protection. When a “boss child” doesn’t learn limits at home, the stage is set for a host of troubles outside the family. The overly willful and unbending child may have trouble obeying teachers or coaches, for example, or trouble keeping friends. It can be pretty lonely as the top dog if no one likes your bossy ways.“I see more and more parents giving up their power,” says Barkley, who has studied bossy behavior for more than 30 years. “They bend too far because they don’t want to be as strict as their own parents were. But they also feel less confident about their parenting skills. Their kids, in turn, feel more anxious.”43. Bossy children like Stephen Jackson ____A. make good decisionsB. show self-centerednessC. lack care from othersD. have little sense of fear44. The underlined phrase “inheritable trait” in Paragraph 2 means ____A. inborn natureB. developed characterC. accepted theoryD. particular environment45. The study on bossy behavior implies that parents ____.A. should give more power to their childrenB. should be strict with their childrenC. should not be so anxious about their childrenD. should not set limits for their children46. Bossy children may probably become ____.A. relaxedB. skillfulC. hesitantD. lonely47. What is the passage mainly about?A. How bossy behavior can be controlled.B. How we can get along with bossy children.C. What leads to children’s bossy behavior.D. What effect bossy behavior brings about.DResearchers are placing robotic dogs (机器狗) in the homes of lonely old people to determine whether they can improve the quality of life for humans. Alan Beck, an expert in human-animal relationship, and Nancy Edwards, a professor of nursing, are leading the animal-assisted study concerning the influence of robotic dogs on old people’s depression, physical activity, and life satisfaction. “No one will argue that an older person is better off being more active, challenged, or stimulated (刺激) ,” Edwards points out. “The problem is how we promote(使……成为现实)that, especially for those without friends or help. A robotic dog could be a solution.”In the study, the robot, called AIBO, is placed for six weeks in the houses of some old people who live alone. Before placing AIBO in the home, researchers will collect baseline data for six weeks. These old people will keep a diary to note their feelings and activity before and after AIBO. Then, the researchers will review the data to determine if it has inspired any changes in the life of its owner.“I talk to him all the time, and he responds to my voice,” says a seventy-year-old lady. “When I’m watching TV, he’ll stay in my arms until he wants down. He has a mind of his own.”The AIBOs respond to certain orders. The researchers say they have some advantages over live dogs, especially for old people. Often the elderly are disabled and cannot care for an animal by walking it or playing with it. A robotic dog removes exercise and feeding concerns.“At the beg inning, it was believed that no one would relate to the robotic dog, because it was metal and not furry,” Beck says. “But it’s amazing how quickly we have given up that belief.“Hopefully, down the road, these robotic pets could become a more-valuable health helper. They will record their masters’ blood pressure, oxygen levels, or heart rhythms. AIBOs may even one day have games that can help stimulate older people’s minds.”48. The purpose of Beck and Edwards’ study is to ____A. understand human-animal relationshipB. make lonely old people’s life betterC. find the causes of old people’s lonelinessD. promote the animal-assisted research49. In the research, the old people are asked to ____A. note the activities of AIBOsB. keep AIBOs at home for 12 weeksC. record their feelings and activityD. analyze the collected information50. What is the advantage of AIBO over live dogs?A. It is easier to keep at home.B. It can help the disabled people.C. It responds to all the human orders.D. It can watch TV with its owner.51. The author seems to suggest that the future robotic dogs may ____A. cure certain diseasesB. keep old people activeC. change people’s beliefsD. look more like real dogsEAttitude is an internal (内在的) state that influences the choices of personal action made by the individual (个人) . Some researchers consider that attitudes come from differences between beliefs and ideas; others believe that attitudes come from emotional states. Here, we focus onthe effects of attitudes upon behavior, that is, upon the choices of action made by the individual. The kinds of actions taken by human beings are obviously influenced greatly by attitudes. Whether one listens to classical music or rock, whether one obeys the speed limit while driving, whether one encourages one’s husband or wife to express his or her own ideas —all are influenced by attitudes. These internal states are acquired(获得)throughout life from situations one is faced with in the home, in the streets, and in the school.Of course, the course of action chosen by an individual in any situation will be largely determined by the particulars of that situation. An individual who has a strong attitude of obeying laws may drive too fast when he is in a hurry and no police cars in sight. A child who has a strong attitude of honesty may steal a penny when she thinks no one will notice. But the internal state which remains unchanged over a period of time, and which makes the individual behave regularly in a variety of situations, is what is meant by an attitude.Attitudes are learned in a variety of ways. They can result from single incidents, as when an attitude toward snakes is acquired by an experience in childhood at the sudden movement of a snake. They can result from the individual’s experiences of success and pleasure, as when someone acquires a positive attitude toward doing crossword puzzles by being able to complete so me of them. And frequently, they are learned by copying other people’s behavior, as when a child learns how to behave toward foreigners by observing the actions of his parents. Regardless of these differences, there is something in common in the learning and modification (修正) of attitudes.52. According to the passage, attitudes ____.A. come from different situations in one’s lifeB. are largely affected by one’s behaviorC. remain unchanged in one’s daily lifeD. could be chosen according to one’s will53. The author uses the examples in Paragraph 3 to show ____.A. people often make mistakes when they are not noticedB. people with good attitudes may sometimes do bad deedsC. particulars of a situation may influence an individual’s a ctionD. an individual may change his or her attitude fairly easily54. Which of the following is TRUE about the learning of attitudes?A. Attitudes are only learned through one’s success.B. Attitudes learned in danger will last longer.C. Copying others’ behavior is not a good idea.D. Attitudes can be learned from one’s parents.55. What would be the best title for the passage?A. Differences of Attitudes.B. Nature of Attitude.C. Choices of Attitudes.D. Modification of Attitude.四、短文改错( 本大题共1 题, 共计10 分)此题要求改正所给短文中的错误。
