Period 3
(2a的继续学习与Pronunciation )
Performance objects:
At the end of this class, students will be able to
e the expressions that start a conversation correctly.
2.know the differences between Chinese names and English names.
e the expressions learned in this class to greet their new classmates and talk with them .
Teaching and learning procedures:
Step 1.Warming up
1.Invite several students to give a self-introduce to the whole class.
2.As they are all new students, ask them to walk around the classroom and greet the other students with the expressions that start a conversation in 1a.
Step 2.Pre-reading
Show the two pictures and ask students to discuss these questions:
1.Where are the two students in the first picture? (In the classroom.)
2.Are the two students in the classroom in picture two? (In the hallways.)
Step 3.While reading
1.Ask students to read the two conversations and underline how people greet each other.
2.Get students to read conversation one in pairs and then think about these questions:
①Do the two students know each other?
②What is the girl's full name?
③How to spell Emma Miller?
④How do they start the conversation?
3.Get students to read conversation two, and fill in chart below with the correct answer:
4.Discuss: Why do students go to class?
Because the bell rings.Students shouldn't be late for class.
Step 4.Post-reading
1.Lead students to read the sentences in the box, and then Find the responses for the questions in 2a.
2.Ask students to complete the conversation in 2b.Finally, role play the conversations.
Homework:
1.整理课堂笔记。

2.背记本节课新词汇。

3.班级今天新来一名同学,你打算如何去认识他/她?你会如何与他/她问候他/她开启对话?如何了解他/她的名字?如何结束对话?请记录你与他/她交流的对话过程。

Period 4
(Project:How to use a dictionary?)
Performance objects:
At the end of this class, students will be able to
1.understand the basic rules of word arrangement in the English dictionary (in alphabetical order).
2.know that the English dictionary is an important tool in English learning and learn to look up new words in the English dictionary
3.guide students to understand and memorize words with the help of English interpretation, and cultivate students' English thinking and authentic English expression habits.
4.actively participate in project activities, communicate, and cooperate to finish project tasks.
Teaching and learning procedures:
Step 1.Warming up
Have students sing the ABC song.

课前唱字母歌,复习字母表顺序,为课上按照字母表顺序查词典做好准备。

Step 2.A guessing game
Show a riddle and let students read and guess what it is:
It is a book.It's a useful tool.It is usually thick and heavy.It can't talk, but it can tell you something you don't know.

猜谜语环节一直都是学生喜爱的课堂活动。

学生一边阅读理解、一边动脑思考,兴趣盎然。

这里的谜底是词典,引入主题学习,同时也引导学生认识到词典的特点和用途,让学生了解的学习查词典的重要性与必要性。

Step 3.Learn about a dictionary cover
Ask students to look at the picture and find out how many parts there are on the cover of a dictionary.

引导学生认识英文词典的封皮有助于了解词典、选择适合自己学段的工具书。

Step 4.How to look up a dictionary
1.Ask Students to read the words in blue in the picture and think about the question:
What order are they in?
(In alphabetical order.)
What are the sentences in black?
Some are explanations (with pictures), some are example sentences.
【设计思路】
这个环节引导学生小组合作,阅读图片内容,讨论、了解词典内容页的组成:包含词汇、英文释义(有些释义附有生动形象的图片)和例句。

我们要有意识地引导学生借助英文释义来理解单词、识记单词,培养学生英文思维和地道地英文表达习惯,以避免学生的中式英语思维问题的出现。

学生产生中式英语思维主要是因为他们没有正确理解英文单词的本意,没有养成正确的英文语感,缺乏规范英文表达的积累。

引导学生养成长期借助英文理解英语单词的习惯,有助于缓解这个问题。

2.Ask students to number the words in alphabetical order in activity 2
3.Show the process of looking up a word to the class.
4.Have a competition.Ask students to work in groups of two and work together to look up the words in activity 3.
5.Give students some words in wrong order and ask them to look up the difficult words in the dictionary, and then put the words in order to make up a new sentence.
Practice makes perfect.
【设计思路】
通过引导学生自己观察词典内容页的单词排列规律, 然后教师做示范,展示查单词的过程,接下来在学生掌握方法后小组进行合作,完成第三部分查词典比赛活动。

最后通过学生个人展示查词典、给单词排练顺序组成句子、理解句子含义,促进学生查词典的熟练掌握,同时也引导学生明白:熟能生巧。
