摘要：PURPOSE:To purify exhaust gas in innumerable cells and plugs so as to enhance purification efficiency by closing the cells formed in a honeycomb structure at ends alternately on the inlet and outlet sides of the exhaust gas with the plugs having permeability. CONSTITUTION:The essential part of a filter is constituted of a honeycomb structure 1 as a base for forming many cells 11 by a wall 10, and a wash coat layer 2 covering the wall 10. Innumerable pore groups 10a are formed in the wall 10. Numberless pores 2a are formed of fine slits in crystals in the wash coat layer 2. In the honeycomb structure 1, the cell 11 is closed at ends alternately on the inlet and outlet sides of exhaust gas by plugs 12 made of foaming ceramic or the like and having permeability. Therefore, purification of the exhaust gas can be performed during its movement inside each cell 11, its movement into each adjacent cell 11, and passage through the plugs 12, respectively.
