高三英语阅读理解(教育文化)模拟试题含解析
一、高中英语阅读理解教育文化类
1.阅读理解
As is known to all, nowadays many students are interested in studying abroad.
Attending schools abroad has many advantages. First, by looking at our own country from outside, we can best see the strong points and weak points of our nation and therefore broaden our minds. Second, while studying in a foreign country, we can travel widely, visiting famous scenic spots and making friends with the local people. Third, we can use the foreign language in our daily life so that our ability in that language may be improved quickly. But the most important
is to learn advanced(先进的) science and technology. For all these advantages, it is really worthwhile to go abroad for education.
However, as everything has two sides, there are also some disadvantages in attending a foreign university. The most serious problem is the language barrier(障碍). Most of the students who are ready to go abroad do not prepare themselves well for the new language environment. As a result, on arriving there, they will find it difficult to understand what the instructors are saying in class. Besides, for not knowing about the customs and way of life of the local people, they may run into trouble in dealing with various situations. Therefore, misunderstandings often arise. Furthermore, the cost of living is much higher than that in our country, so most students have to find part-time jobs in order to help support themselves. Faced with these difficulties, many students find themselves unable to pay full attention to their studies and some students may even fail in their courses and learn little.
Therefore, given an opportunity to attend a school abroad, one must consider the factors carefully before making up his mind. On the one hand, it is a good thing to go and study abroad. But on the other hand, one must not neglect(忽视) the disadvantages.

(2)The underlined word "instructors" in Paragraph 3 is closest in meaning to "__________".
A.neighbors

A.Because they want to learn more skills in a different country.
B.Because they want to make full use of their time.
C.Because they are not interested in studying.
D.Because they have to support themselves.
(4)The passage mainly tells us that __________.

Among the four skills in learning English, which one of these is the "odd-man-out"? The answer is speaking. The other three you can do alone on your own. But you can't really speak alone! Speaking to yourself can be "dangerous" because men in white coats may come and take you away!
Where can you find people to speak English? And how can you practice speaking when you are alone?
At school- If you pay to go to a language school, you should use the opportunity to speak. If your teacher asks you to speak in pairs or groups with other students, try to say as much as possible. Don't worry about your mistakes. Just speak!
Conversation Clubs-Many cities around the world have conversation clubs where people can exchange one language for another. Look in your local newspaper to find a conversation club near you. They are usually free although some may charge a small entrance fee(费用).
Shopping-Even if you don't want to buy anything, you can ask questions about products that interest you in a shop. "How much does this cost?" "Can I pay by cheque?" Often you can start a real conversation-and it costs you nothing!
Café and Bars-There are often American, Britain, Irish and Australian bars in many large cities. If
you can find one, you'll probably meet many people speaking English as a first or second language.
Language is all around you-Everywhere you go, you find language. Shop names, street names, advertisements, notices, and car numbers….When you walk down the street, practice reading the words and numbers that you see. Say them to yourself. It's not exactly a conversation, but it will help you to "think" in English. But don't speak too loud!
Songs and Video-Repeat the words of an English song singing with the music until it becomes automatic. It's good practice for your memory and for the mouth muscles that you need for English.
Above all, speak as much as possible! Make as many mistakes as possible! When you know that you have made a mistake, you know that you have made progress!
(1)What does the underlined part "odd-man-out" probably mean according to the passage?
A. Someone or something that can be easily mistaken for another.
B. Someone or something appearing different from the others.
C. Someone or something standing out of the group.
D. Someone or something arranged in pairs.
(2)In which places can you learn English NOT free of charge?
A.At school, in shops and café bars.
B.In conversation clubs and in the streets.
C.In conversation clubs, shops, songs and video.
D.At school, in conversation clubs and café and bars.
(3)Why does the writer say "Make as many mistakes as possible"?
A.Because everyone will make mistakes in learning English.
B.Because making mistakes is a must in making progress in learning English.
C.Because everyone will meet people speaking English with some mistakes.
D.Because making mistakes can make one realize the importance of speaking.
(4)What is the purpose of the passage?
A.To tell us that English is all around us.
B.To tell us that we can speak English alone.
C.To give us some advice on how to practice speaking.
D.To tell us speaking is the easiest of the four skills in learning English.

3.阅读理解
Everywhere we look, we are surrounded by technology. We heavily rely on technology for our day-to-day lives. There are the social media apps, such as Facebook, Twitter, where we are able to see into the lives of everyone around us. There are other more useful apps like Google Maps where you can use a GPS to get from one place to another. It is no wonder that we are constantly looking down at our phones and other devices. And, that is a problem.
Pretty soon, I fear that people will no longer be able to communicate face to face. I personally love being able to sit down and have a conversation with someone sans cell phones and distractions. It shows that you care about who you are talking to and want to involve and listen to them. The cell phone can wait until later.
What I really dislike is that younger and younger children are using technology. Instead of playing outside with friends, they are playing on iPads, iPods, or video games. Instead of having little games or books, children now have electronic devices to use to distract them even if waiting at doctors' appointments etc. They want cell phones at young ages. They have texting. I overheard sixth graders one day talking about texting, and I was a little sad. At that age, I had to call my friends on the phone in order to talk to them.
We are a society based on technology. And, that isn't a completely bad thing, given its use in areas such as medicine. But we shouldn't be addicted to so many of these devices that we forget
to look around and see what is happening in the world around us.
(1)What can be concluded from the first paragraph?
A.Some tech products leave us unable to focus.
B.Social media apps make people more visible.
C.Many people usually misuse social media apps.
D.Technology provides us with a convenient life.
(2)Which can best replace the underlined word "sans"?
A.is need of
B.without
C.is spite of
D.with
(3)What's the author's attitude towards using technology in medicine?
A.Indifferent.
B.Opposed.
C.Concerned.
D.Supportive.
(4)What does the author really want to show in the passage?
A.We should take a step back from constantly using technology.
B.The electronic devices are closely connected with our life.
C.Society should no longer be based on technology.
D.We should say goodbye to electronic devices.
【答案】(1)A
(2)B
(3)D
(4)A

4.阅读理解
A story posted by The New York Post Monday tells the tale of Katrina Holte, a Hillsboro woman who quit her job to cosplay a 1950s housewife.
Let me start by expressing admiration to Holte for using her 2019 freedoms to follow her 1950s dreams. Everyone should be so lucky as to get to decide what they wear and how they spend their time. That's the future our foremothers fought for.
But as much fun as I am sure she is having living a vintage (复古的) life, which literally includes watching shows like "I Love Lucy" and listening to vinyl recordings (刻录碟片), I think it's important to remember that being a 1950s housewife was actually totally awful, and something our grandmothers and mothers fought against.
For example, once I called my grandma and asked her for her recipe for Cloud Biscuits, these delicious biscuits she used to make that we would cover with butter and homemade raspberry jam on Thanksgiving.
"Why would you want that?" she said. "Go to the store. Go to the freezer section. Buy some pre-made biscuits and put them in the oven."
She straight-up refused to give me the recipe, because it was hard and took a long time to make. In her mind, it was a waste of time.
Getting off the phone, it occurred to me that spending every day of your life serving a husband and five children wasn't fun at all. And then there are the grandchildren who eventually come along demanding Cloud Biscuits, a whole new expanded set of people to feed.
She was basically a slave to those hungry mouths, cooking scratch meals three times a day. When she wasn't trapped in the kitchen, she had to keep the house clean, make sure she looked good enough to be socially acceptable, and make sure her kids and husband looked good enough to be socially acceptable. And she had no days off.
I know my grandma loves her kids and her grandkids, her husband and the life she led, but man, it must have been a lot of thankless, mindless labor.
No wonder everyone went all-in on processed foods when they came around. Imagine the nice break something like a microwave dinner would give a woman working, unpaid, for her family every single day?
I also had another grandma. She was a scholar who helped found the Center for the Study of Women in Society at University of Oregon. She was a pioneering second-wave feminist who wrote books, gave lectures and traveled the world.
But, she did all of that after divorcing my grandpa, when most of her kids were out of the house. Back then, in the 1950s and the 1960s, there was no illusion about women "having it all". How could that even possibly happen? If you were taking care of a family, waiting on your husband, you had no time to follow your dreams, unless you made that your dream.
A lot of women took that approach. We call it Stockholm Syndrome now.
And of course, these women I am talking about are upper-middle-class white women. Romanticizing the 1950s is especially disgusting when you think about how women of color and poor women were treated back then, and the lack of education and choices available to them.
Because the women in this country demanded something approaching equality, Holte has the chance to live out her fantasy. Not every woman in America is so lucky.
We still don't have pay equality and in many states, we still don't have autonomy over our own bodies. Poor women and women of color still lack the opportunities of their wealthy and white peers.
And while it's getting better, women are still expected to be responsible for the emotional labor of running a household and raising the children.
But at least we can get jobs. At least we don't have to sew our own clothes, wear a full face of makeup every day and spend hours making Cloud Biscuits some ungrateful kid will wolf down, barely remembering to say thank you.
(1)According to the author, what is the future our foremothers fought for?
A. Watching shows like "I Love Lucy" and listening to vinyl recordings.
B. Having the freedom to make choices in their daily life.
C. Making Cloud Biscuits for their kids and husbands.
D. Making sure their kids and husbands socially acceptable.
(2)What does the underlined word "that" in paragraph 13 refer to?
A. Writing books, giving lectures and traveling the world.
B. Divorcing husband when kids were out of house.
C. Taking care of a family and waiting on husband.
D. Women's illusion about "having it all".
(3)What does the "Stockholm Syndrome" in paragraph 14 really mean in the passage?
A. Women have been used to the unfair treatment at home
B. Women nowadays like the way of life in the 1950s.
C. Victims end up sympathizing with the abusers.
D. Women have the chance to live out their dreams.
(4)The author thinks of the life of a 1950s housewife as ________.
A. fantastic
B. admirable
C. awful
D. unforgettable
(5)What can we learn from the passage?
A. It was a waste of time to give grandchildren the recipe.
B. All women are not lucky to follow their own dreams in America now.
C. Housewives received recognition for their efforts from family members.
D. The upper-middle-class white women did a better job in running the household.
(6)What is the author's main purpose in writing this passage?
A. To show great appreciation to her grandmas.
B. To call on housewives to claim the pay for the housework they undertake.
C. To draw readers' attention to the situations women face, especially those poor and of color.
D. To arouse women's awareness of equal pay at work.
【答案】(1)B
(2)C
(3)A
(4)C
(5)B
(6)C
【解析】【分析】本文是一篇说明文,作者认为在日常生活中拥有选择的自由是我们的祖先为之奋斗的未来,同时想让读者注意到女性所面临的处境,尤其是那些贫穷的有色人种。

(1)考查细节理解。

根据第二段中的“Everyone should be so lucky a s to get to decide what they wear and how they spend their time. That's the future our foremothers fought for.”每个人都应该很幸运,能够决定自己穿什么,如何度过时间。

这就是我们的祖先为之奋斗的未来,可知,作者认为在日常生活中拥有选择的自由是我们的祖先为之奋斗的未来。

故选B。

(2)考查代词指代。

根据第十三段中的“If you were taking care of a family, waitin g on your husband, you had no time to follow your dreams, unless you made that your dream.”如果你要照顾一个家庭,服侍你的丈夫,你就没有时间去追求你的梦想,除非你把它当成你的梦想,可知,that指代的其实是前面的内容,也就是taking care of a family, waiting on your husband。

故选C。

(3)考查词义猜测。

根据第十四段中的“A lot of women took that approach. We call it Stockholm Syndrome now.”很多女性采取了这种方式。

我们现在称之为Stockholm Syndrome,可知,我们现在把1950s很多女性接受了这个方式生活下去的这个现象称作Stockholm Syndrome。

根据上文可知,1950s很多女性的生活方式则是——照顾家庭、服侍丈夫、没有时间去追求自己的梦想,这对女性来讲是不公平的,故选A。

(4)考查细节理解。

根据第三段中的“I think it's important to remember that being a 1950s housewife was actually totally awful, and something our grandmothers and mothers fought against.”我认为重要的是要记住,作为一个50年代的家庭主妇实际上是非常糟糕的,这是我们的祖母和母亲所反对的。

可知,作者认为20世纪50年代家庭主妇的生活很糟糕。

故选C。

(5)考查推理判断。

根据倒数第四段中的“ Holte has the chance to live out her fantasy. Not every woman in America is so lucky.”霍尔特有机会实现她的梦想。

不是每个美国女人都这么幸运。

可推知,在美国,并不是所有的女性都有机会追逐自己的梦想。

故选B。

(6)考查推理判断。

根据倒数第三段“We still don't have pay equality and in many states, we still don't have autonomy over our own bodies. Poor women and women of color still lack the opportunities of their wealthy and white peers.”

You probably know the basics of how comparatives(比较级) and superlatives(最高级) work in the English language. When comparing something, you often add an "-er" to the end of the comparative adjective. The general rule is that one-syllable(音节) words get the suffix(后缀), and polysyllabic words get "more" or "most." That is, unless the two-syllable word ends in a "y"; if that's the case, you will add the suffixes and change the "y" to an "i".
But what about the word "fun"? This simple adjective only has one syllable, so you'd think you'd add suffixes on it to create superlatives. But if you were to say "I think Magic Kingdom is a funner park than Epcot." or "Disney World was the funnest vacation ever!" you might get some strange looks. It doesn't sound quite right. But…why? "Fun" is one syllable, so why do we choose "more fun" as the comparative—especially considering that the similar word "funny," which has more syllables than "fun," uses the suffixes with no problem?
Well, the problem comes from the fact that the word "fun" was not originally an adjective. Until the early 19th century, it was mostly just a noun, and it gained its meaning as "amusement" in the 18th century. But as early as the 1800s, people began using it as an adjective, the way we'd describe "a fun time" or "a fun place" today.
Basically, language is still developing. Grammarians have mostly come around to the use of "fun" as an adjective (though some dictionaries still call it informal). There was (and remains) an agreement of "Fine, you can use ‘fun' as an adjective…but, like, it's not really one, so it can't follow the rules of real adjectives." So they also agree that the answer to "is funner a word?" is yes. If you want to consider "fun," as an adjective, then "funner" is indeed a word, as is "funnest". But this doesn't mean that "more fun" and "most fun" are incorrect, though; in fact, in formal writing, you'll probably still want to use those instead of "funner" and "funnest."
The English language is chock-full of uncertain grammar rules; there's no need to insist that a word breaks the common rules of language just because we didn't used to use it in a way we do now.
(1)How do comparatives and superlatives work in the English language?
A. Put "more" or "most" before one-syllable adjectives.
B. Add "-er" or "-est" to most polysyllabic adjectives.
C. Put "more" or "most" before polysyllabic adjectives.
D. Add "-er" or "-est" straight to two-syllable words ending in a "y".
(2)People didn't used to use "funner" or "funnest" partly because ______________. A. it sounded strange to grammarians B. the English language changed a little
C. the word was originally used as a noun
D. some dictionaries considered it incorrect
(3)What can be the best title of the passage?
A. Is "funner" a word?
B. A general rule of English grammar.
C. The development of English language.
D. The comparatives and superlatives of adjectives.
【答案】(1)C
(2)C
(3)A
【解析】【分析】本文是一篇说明文,介绍了英语形容词比较级和最高级中,单词fun的比较级和最高级变化规则而展开。

告诉了我们单词fun词性的历史演变,英语充满了不确定的语法规则;没有必要仅仅因为我们过去不像现在这样使用一个词就认为它违反了语言的一般规则。

(1)考查细节理解。

根据第一段中的“The general rule is that one-syllable words get the suffix, and polysyllabic words get 'more' or 'most.'"一般规则是单音节单词词尾添加后缀,多音节单词则需要添加"more"或"most"。

可知在英语比较级和最高级中,在多音节形容词前加"more"或"most"。

故选C。

(2)考查细节理解。

根据第三段中的”Until the early 19th century, it was mostly just a noun, and it gained its meaning as "amusement" in the 18th century. But as early as the 1800s, people began using it a s an adjective, the way we'd describe "a fun time" or ‘a fun place“today.”直到19世纪早期,它还只是一个名词,到了18世纪才有了"娱乐"的含义。

但早在19世纪,人们就开始把它用作形容词,我们今天用它来形容"有趣的时间"或"有趣的地方"。

可知过去的人们不习惯使用"funner"或"funnest",部分原因是这个词最初用作名词。

故选C。

(3)考查主旨大意。

根据第二段中的“But what about the word "fun"? This simple adjective only has one syllable, so you'd think you'd add suffixes on it to create superlatives.”但是"乐趣"这个词呢?这个简单的形容词只有一个音节,所以你会认为你应该在它上面加上后缀来创造最高级。

以及倒数第二段中的“So they also agree that the answer to "is funner a word?" is yes.”所以他们对"funner是一个词吗?"的说法是肯定的。

本文主要内容都是围绕着fun的比较级和最高级变化规则展开论述,故A选项"funner是一个词吗?"符合文章主旨。

故选A。

【点评】本题考点涉及细节理解和主旨大意两个题型的考查,是一篇文化知识类阅读,考生需要准确捕捉细节信息,并根据上下文进行概括和归纳,从而选出正确答案。

Mr Gibb said, "Schools obviously are free to set their own behaviour policies but my own view is that schools should ban (禁止)mobile telephones and smart phones inside school, and particularly inside classrooms. I believe very strongly that children should be limiting their own use at home. Every hour spent online and on a smart phone is an hour less talking to family, and it's an hour less exercise and it's an hour less sleep. And of course it is a lack of sleep that research is showing can have a damaging effect on a child's mental health.”
The parents are told that children will be asked to break off at least every two hours and avoid social media before bedtime. The UK would be following in the footsteps of European countries if schools were to introduce a ban. with French pupils being told to leave their smart phones at home when they returned from their summer holidays last year.
At the Festival of Education at Wellington College last summer, Professor Michael from America said that any sensible head would ban mobile phones. "It's far too distracting for children having mobile phones. Texting, playing games, all this takes place. Mobile phones go off in classrooms, disrupting lessons. Ban them. If children want to use a phone in an emergency they can use the school phone."
(1)What's Nick Gibb's attitude towards using mobile phone in school?
A.Cautious.
B.Supportive.
C.Indifferent.

7.阅读理解
Stress is one of the most common causes of health problems in modern life. Too much stress results in physical, emotional, and mental health problems.
There are numerous physical effects of stress. Stress can affect the heart. It can increase the pulse rate, make the heart miss beats, and can cause high blood pressure. Stress can affect the respiratory (呼吸的) system. It can lead to asthma and cause a person to breathe too fast, resulting in a loss of important carbon dioxide. Stress can affect the stomach. It can cause stomachaches and problems of digesting food. These are only a few examples of the wide range of illnesses and symptoms resulting from stress.
Emotions are also easily affected by stress. People suffering from stress often feel anxious. They may have panic attacks and feel tired all the time. When people are under stress, they often overreact to little problems. For example, a normally gentle parent under a lot of stress at work may yell at a child for dropping a glass of juice. Stress can make people angry, moody, or nervous. Long-term stress can lead to a variety of serious mental illnesses. Depression, an extreme feeling of sadness and hopelessness, can be the result of continued and increasing stress. Alcoholism and other addictions often develop as a result of overuse of alcohol or drugs to try to relieve(释放)stress. If stress is allowed to continue, then one's mental health is put at risk.
It is obvious that stress is a serious problem. It attacks the body. It affects the emotions. Untreated, it may eventually result in mental illness. Stress has a great influence on the health, our feelings and our minds. So, reduce stress: stop the world and rest for a while.
