The considerations about the boundaries
1. Length ---The topic itself or the amount of time may suggest its length. ---Your paper’s length will determine your treatment of a topic ---If you aren’t sure how long to make your paper, discuss your plans with the instructor who assigned it.
How can you become a successful writer? ---Have confidence that your ideas are worthwhile and that your reader genuinely wants to know what you think. ---Much of your success as a writer depends on a strong desire, confidence, and an unflagging determination to communicate clearly with your readers.

Audience ---Audiences can vary widely in terms of their education, age, interests, experiences, attitudes, and knowledge of your topic. ---How well you assess these factors in your intended audience can help to determine the effectiveness of your writing. ---How familiar your audience is with your subject can determine the kind of topic you choose to discuss.
2.1.3 Narrowing a general subject
---When you are given a free choice of topics then you must narrow the topic to a particular aspect of that general subject. ---You must narrow the subject of your essay to a specific focus so that you can write about it clearly and completely.
Faced with choosing topics of your essay, you should try to ask the following questions:
▲ What’s my pleasure of a new hobby and the challenge of a new book or movie? ▲ What am I skilled at: playing the guitar, becoming a first-class house-sitter, or knowing more about computers and so forth?
4. Occasion ---The occasion for your college writing assignments is most often an essay or exam you write in class or a longer paper you write at home. ---Different situations require different responses. ---Careful consideration of the occasion for your writing will help give your essay direction.
