用EPDM／PP 制备成的保险杆在汽车高速行驶时受到冲撞不易碎裂，而且装饰美观，也可以注射成型，在性能方面，EPDM ／PP与聚氨酯差不多，但是成本比聚氨酯抵10％~20％，目前EPDM／PP作为汽车保险杠成为汽车工业发展趋势，如日本目前汽车保险杠80％采用EPDM／PP制造，在西欧也有60％左右汽车保险杠采用EPDM ／PP材料制备而成。
目前TPE作为汽车密封条的优越性已被国内行业人士认识，高分子量的TPE由于耐磨性好、摩擦系数小，作为汽车玻璃导槽密封条的挤出用料，更可作为汽车橡胶密封条的接角材料。
水发泡海绵状TPE在国外已研制成功，成为今后取代海绵橡胶制作汽车密封条的新趋向；且TPE着色工艺简便，常作为汽车密封条外装饰层材料，目前国内数家密封条企业引进彩色TPE和彩色橡胶共挤包覆橡胶密封条生产线，另外橡胶密封条在集装箱、建筑等领域也有应用，目前国内TPE生产量少、品种少、质量差，需求主要依赖进口。
除汽车工业外，电线电缆业是TPE消费又一重要领域，随着我国通讯事业迅速发展，对电线电缆质量和数量提出更高要求，原有的电线电缆生产工艺逐步淘汰，目前国内电线电缆企业众多，假设电缆采用TPE，用挤塑工艺生产，不但生产效率提高，而目产品质量也随着提高，同时可以简化生产工序，废旧制品及边角余料也可以回收利用，产品成本可以降低20％～50％，在家用电器领域中TPE的可用市场潜力较大，但是在我国由于价格较高，目前只有海尔和小天鹅电器公司进行应用，预计2006年汽车以外丁业将消费TPE 1.8万吨左右。
综上所述，2006年国内市场对TPE的总需求约5.4万吨左右，预计未来几年我国TPE需求增长率将保持10％～15％的高速度，2010年国内TPE需求量将达8～10万吨。
