In recent years, the importance of environmental protection has become increasingly prominent due to the escalating pollution and environmental degradation that threaten our planet. As global citizens, it is our collective responsibility to take action to preserve the environment for future generations. This essay will discuss the significance of environmental protection and the measures that can be taken to ensure a sustainable future.Firstly, protecting the environment is vital for the health and well-being of all living organisms. The degradation of natural habitats, pollution of air and water, and loss of biodiversity pose significant risks to our ecosystems. For instance, the pollution of water bodies not only affects aquatic life but also impacts human health when contaminated water is consumed. Furthermore, air pollutioncan lead to respiratory diseases and other health issues, showcasing the direct correlation between environmental degradation and public health. Therefore, preserving our environment is essential for maintaining the quality of life for all beings. Moreover, environmental protection is crucial for the sustainability of our planet. The Earth’s resources are finite, and unsustainable practices such as deforestation, overfishing, and fossil fuel consumption deplete these resources at an alarming rate. If we continue down this path without making significant changes, future generations may inherit a depleted planet that can no longer sustain life. It is imperative that we adopt sustainable practices to ensure that resources are available for both current and future inhabitants of the Earth. To address these urgent issues, individuals and communities can implement several measures. Promotingrecycling and waste reduction is a fundamental step that everyone can take to minimize environmental impact. By reducing waste and recycling materials, we can conserve natural resources and energy while decreasing pollution. Additionally, transitioning to renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind power, reduces our reliance on fossil fuels and lowers greenhouse gas emissions, which are major contributors to climate change.Furthermore, raising awareness about environmental issues is crucial in fostering a culture of sustainability. Educational programs and community initiatives can encourage individuals to take part in local environmental conservation efforts, such as tree planting or clean-up campaigns. By fostering a sense of responsibility towards the environment, we can inspire others to make conscious choices that benefit both our planet and society. In conclusion, environmental protection is of utmost importance for the health of our planet and its inhabitants. By adopting sustainable practices, raising awareness, and taking collective action, we can create a healthier environment and ensure the longevity of our precious resources. It is our duty to protect the Earth and preserve it for future generations, as the actions we take today will shape the world of tomorrow.。

Nowadays, there usually exists a wide selection of electives for college students to choose from. However, students have quite different plans for their future so they always end up learning courses based on their own ideas. Some students may choose to learn a certain course in order to obtain an extra certificate for their job hunting after graduation. Because they assume that some more knowledge could ensure more chances of winning in finding a good job. Others may have their choice made just for fun. They tend to hold the idea that college life could be more colorful if they could widen their knowledge through elective courses. As far as I'm concerned, I'm inclined to choose electives based on both the value of the courses and the interest of my own.范文二Nowadays many college students prefer to have electives in their spare time because the courses can offer a variety of skills and abundant knowledge apart from what they learn in the daily courses. There are many factors that may account for it, and the following are the most conspicuous aspects. To start with, many students want to get another degree besides their own, so that they can have more competence when they seek a job. Furthermore, as for me, I don't care about degree or job, I just want to obtain some necessary skills to make my college life worthwhile. What I'm concerned most is how to own more skills that may be necessary for my future. Finally, some students want to learn anything that is different from what they are learning now. The science students, for example, want to know about Shakespeare while the art students want to tell how a vehicle works and how to deal with it when it breaks down. So, they can all get what they think is useful to their college life.On the whole, the phenomenon is one of the results of multi-demand of the employment market. There is still a long way for us to improve the elective itself, but as a student myself, I find it rewarding and interesting.

With modern medical science, for example, it is possible for babies to grow up healthily and for people to live longer. On one hand, the increase in live expectancy and improving mortality rates sound good. On the other hand, the overgrowth of population presents a threat to the existence of human society. Every country around the world should carry out a family planning program. Only in this way can our society have a steady development.A Letter of ComplaintJuly 5, 2008 Dear Sir or Madam,I am writing to inform you that I wish to move into a new room next semester. I would like to live in a room of my own, for I find the present sharing arrangement inconvenient. The reason for my dissatisfaction is my roommate’s inconsiderate behavior. For one thing, his friends are visiting him frequently; for another, he regularly holds noisy parties. Under the circumstances, I find it difficult to focus on my study, and I have been behind in my assignments.I hope that you will agree that it is the only choice for me to move into a room of my own. Thus, I would be very thankful if you could find a single room for me, preferably not in the same building but as near to the campus as possible.Yours truthfully,Li MingBe YourselfNowadays, it is very common that a “top” person sets the pace, while the others follow their lead. For example, the top person decides that it is smart to wear pink sweaters. Pretty soon everybody is wearing a pink sweater. As foe such a phenomenon, some people claim that imitating the top crowd is very cool. They feel very proud of following their lead. However, other people think that one will lose his or her personality when copying the top crowd. As far as I’m concerned, develop your own standards and your own judgment. If you know the crowd is planning something you disapprove of, you should have the courage to bowout politely. In this way, you’ll have the satisfaction of standing on your own two feet. Keep this in mind-you are the unique one in the world. How to Arrange Your Time at College?Nowadays, people are divided on the question how students should arrange their school days. Some people claim students should spend the whole school days in academic studies. However, others contend physical exercise should be a required part of every school day.As for me, I will choose the latter without hesitation. Being a student, his or her main task is to work hard on his or her academic study. Only by studying hard can he or she obtain adequate knowledge from academic studies. Nevertheless, I don’t think a student should focus on studying too much, he or she should join in meaningful activities. For instance, doing physical exercise is a good way to make students’ life more colorful and beneficial. In a word, when students gain knowledge from academic studies, they should not neglect to relax themselves and take regular physical exercise.。

benefits, while others argue that itwill pose a threat to the security of college students. In my view, weneed to recognize that opening sports facilities to the public hasmore pros than cons.First,it has dramatically improved the health level of the whole soci-ety.People can eXercise on the playground to invigorate health ef-fectively,reduce the risk of heart disease, and lower the odds ofobesity, which not only prolong peoples life but also curtail thewholeeXpenditure of healthcare.Second, making university sportsfacilities available to the public contributes to the cost-cutting ofthegovernment. If thecampus sports facilities are not open to thepublic, government willalso build them elsewhere, which is boundto increase its budget pressure. In the mean time, the utilization ofsports facilities in schools will also be reduced if the public cannotaccess to them, resulting wasting of resources. In conclusion, although too many “non-students”might cause se-curity problem toward the university, this can be overcome by strict-er regulation, while allowing people to use sports facilities in thecampus will undoubtedly bring agreat deal of benefits to the wholesociety. 4In recent days, our university is soliciting students opinions on whether university libraries should be open to the public. This is a topic that has sparked much debate. On one hand, there are several advantages to opening university libraries to the public.Firstly,it promotes knowledge sharing.Libraries are treasure troves of knowledge, and by opening them up, more people can access a wide range of academic resources, books, journals, and research materials. This can contribute to the overall improvement of societys intellectual level.Secondly,it can enhance theuniversitys social image.Demonstrating an openness and willingness to share knowledge with the public shows that the university is committed to serving the community and not just its own students.Thirdly, it may encourage more interaction and cooperation between the university and the outside world. For eXample, local residents who use the library might have opportunities to collaborate with university researchers or participate in academic activities. On the other hand, there are also concerns. One major worry is overcrowding. If the library is open to the public, it may become too crowded, especially during peak periods. This could disrupt the study environment for university students who rely on the library for quiet study spaces.Another concern is the potential misuse of resources. Some members of the public might not handle the books and materials properly, leading to damage or loss. Moreover, security issues might arise as it becomes more difficult to monitor who is using the library. In conclusion, while opening university libraries to the public has its merits in terms of knowledge sharing and community engagement, it also poses challenges in terms of crowd control and resource management.A careful balance needs to be struck to ensure that both the university community andthe public can benefit from an open library while minimizing the negative impacts. 5The question of whether university libraries should be open to the public is a compleX one.As a student, I have given this matter a great deal of thought. For those in favor of opening, it can be argued that it is a way to give back to society.Universities are often funded by public resources, so opening their libraries allows the public to access the knowledge and information that they have helped to support.Additionally,it can inspire lifelong learning.People from all walks of life can use the library to eXpand their horizons and pursue personal growth. Moreover, it can foster a sense of community. The library can become a place where people from different backgrounds come together to learn and eXchange ideas. However, opponents point out several drawbacks. One issue is the strain on resources.University libraries are designed to meet the needs of students and faculty. If the public is allowed in, there may not be enough study spaces, computers, and books to go around. This could negatively affect the educational eXperience of university students.Another concernis security. With more people coming in and out of the library,it becomes more difficult to ensure the safety of the facilities and the people using them. There is also the possibility of noise and disruption, which can interfere with the study and research activities of students. In my opinion, university libraries could be selectively open to the public. For eXample, certain areas could be reserved for university users during peak study times, while other areas could be open to the public at specific hours. This way, the benefits of knowledge sharing and community engagement can be achieved while minimizing the negative impacts on students and the university community. 6The debate over whether university libraries should be open to the public is an important one.On the surface, it seems like a simple question, but there are many factors to consider. One of the main arguments for opening university libraries to the public is that it can increase access to education. Not everyone has the opportunity to attend university, but by opening the libraries, people can still access valuable educational resources. This can help to level the playing field and provide opportunities for self-improvement.Additionally,it can promote cultural eXchange.People from different cultures and backgrounds can come together in the library and learn from each other. On the contrary, there are concerns about the impact on university students. If the library is open to the public, it may become more difficult for students to find study spaces and access the resources they need. There is also the risk of damage to books and facilities. Some members of the public may not be as careful with the materials as university students and faculty. Moreover, there could be issues with security and privacy. With more people in the library, it becomes more challenging to ensure the safety and privacy of students and their work.In conclusion, while opening university libraries to the public has its potential benefits,it also presents challenges.A compromise could be to implement a system where the public can access the library under certain conditions, such as during specific hours or with a library card. This would allow for some degree of access while also protecting the interests of university students and the integrity of the librarys resources. 7The issue of whether university libraries should be open to the public is a topic of much discussion on our campus. Those who advocate for opening the libraries argue that it can enhance social cohesion.By providing a place for people to gather and learn, university libraries can help to build stronger communities. It can also be a source of inspiration for those who are passionate about learning but may not have access to other educational resources. Moreover,it can promote intellectual growth and creativity.People from different fields and disciplines can interact and share ideas, leading to new insights and discoveries. However, opponents worry about the practical implications. One concern is the management of resources.University libraries have limited space and resources, and opening them to the public may strain these resources. There could be issues with book availability, computer access, and study spaces.Another concern is the potential for disruption. The library is a place of study and research for university students, and the presence of the public may cause distractions and noise. In my view, a balanced approach is needed.University libraries could consider opening certain sections or resourcesto the public while maintaining dedicated areas for university students. This could involve setting up separate study areas for the public and implementing stricter rules on noise and behavior.Additionally, the university could work with the community to educate users on proper library etiquette and resource management. In conclusion, the decision to open university libraries to the public should be carefully considered, taking into account the needs of both the university community and the public.By finding a middle ground, we can ensure that everyone has access to knowledge while maintaining a productive learning environment. 8As our university considers whether to open its library to the public, it is essential to However, the impact of social media on interpersonal communication is a topic of much debate. Inthis essay, I will explore both the positive and negative effects of social media on how we connect with one another. On the positive side, social media has made it easier for people to stay in touch with friends and family, regardless of geographical distance. It has given a voice to the voiceless, allowing individuals to express their opinions and share their experiences on a global platform. Furthermore, it has facilitated the formation of online communities where people with common interests can connect and collaborate. However, the negative effects of social media on interpersonal communication are also significant. Thereliance on digital communication can lead to a decline in face-to-face interaction, which is crucial for building deep and meaningful relationships. The constant exposure to curated and often idealized versions of other people's lives can lead to feelings of inadequacy and envy. Additionally, the anonymity and distance that online platforms provide can sometimes embolden individuals to engage in negative behaviors such as cyberbullying and the spread of misinformation. In conclusion, while social media has undoubtedly made communication more convenient and accessible, it is essential to be aware of its potential drawbacks. It is crucial to strike a balance between online and offline interactions to maintain the quality of our interpersonal relationships.
Part V Writing (30 minutes)Directions: For this part ,you are allowed thirty minutes to write a composition on the topic How to Succeed in a Job Interview? You should write at least 100 words, and base your composition on the outline given in Chinese below:1.

You can start your essay with the sentence "The use of translation apps is becoming increasingly popular. " You should write at least 120 words but no more than 180 words. Consequently ,people are getting more opportunities to speak or meet another language but their own mother tongue with the development of the economy. Undoubtedly , an app of translation is crucial for people who cannot handle the language perfectly. But the viewpoints are split one whether this kind of apps are wholly a good thing.Where there is a light , there is a shadow. Some people argue that a translation app will bridge them with the native speakers adequately no matter who will be a traveler or a businessman. It will pose a huge threat for people who can not understand what they say. Fortunately , everyone will interact richly with the apps like this. On the other hand, some people think that the translations app cannot fully create and convey the feelings on the authentic language. As a result , it will bring more misunderstandings. Besides, the opponents take the point of view that people will be more over-reliant on the mobile-phones and Internet. From where I stand , I would take the the translation on this kind of apps as a reference rather than a kind of dependence. The most effective and beneficial way to express yourself and communicate with a foreigner is to improve one’s ability to exert this unfamiliar language. As an old saying goes is Practice makes perfect.

Electives Course
We all know that elective course can make a free space for everyone to show their strong points, develop their imaginations, creations and personal styles. Every term our school would offer a range of elective courses which you can choose according to your own areas of interest. I always read all course information and analysis which one is suitable for us study. This semester, I took an course about psychological health as my eclective course.
Nowadays, it is a common phenomenon that people go to have some psychological consultations, including students in school. I always face great pressure from study and life. Being depressed for a long time, I doubt if I am physically healthy. So I choose it as my eclective course of this term.
During the course, my mental state improved greatly. First and foremost, I tried to build up a healthy lifestyle. Furthermore, I realized that we need to find different ways to relax ourselves when we face severe competition. Thirdly, we should be sympathetic. Thanks to the electives course.

Elective Course—Fashion and Image Design
All the universities offer various electives for students to choose. They may make different choices due to different reasons. But as far as I am concerned, Fashion and Image Design course is worth studying for each individual.
First, a good appearance may help us make a better impression in social contacts. The way we are dressed helps us to preserve a sense of our own value and personality. Second, Fashion adds spice to life with its rich color, variety, and beauty. The world will be a dull place to live in if we always wear clothes of the same style and color. And the third, also the most important, being well-dressed is of psychological importance. Because dress properly can enhance our self-confidence in appearance, which will lead to confidence in our success in life.
That’s the reason why I choose this course. The confident people are the most charming people, I believe that Fashion and Image Design will give you an unusual life.

Elective Course
As a college student in the new era, we should pay attention not only to human deveploment, but also to harmonious co-existence between man and nature. In the beginning of the term, I chose an elective related to the environment. I want to learn some theory concerning environmental protection.
Though it may be hard for some people to willingly accept, no one, regardless of race, religion or nationality, can deny that the world we live in is becoming increasingly intolerable because of the effects of global warming. But the lack of knowledge about the importance of protecting environment hinders the solving of the problem. This is the reason that I took the course.
In the course, I have learned many problems that I have never realized before. It is urgent that immediate and effetive actions should be taken right away. As an individual, there are lots way to reduce
the global warming: to ride a bike instead of a car; to use environmental plastic bags and so on. Moreover we can call people to plant more trees which help improve and beautify the environment.
The more loving care showed for the environment, the more beautiful the world will become. Let us do our own bit towards protecting the environment. Let us be doing!。
