A key first step in bettering your evaluation ability is to look carefully at your sourcesof healthy information. Reasonable evaluation includes knowing where and how to fins relevant information, how to separate fact from opinions, how to recognize poor reasoning, and how to analyze information and the reliability of sources. 71 Go to the original source. Media reports often simplify the results of medical research. Find out for yourself what a study really reported, and determine whether it was based on good science. Think about the type of study. 72Watch for misleading language. Some studies will find that a behavior “contributes to” or is “associated with” an outcome; this does not mean that a certain course must lead to a certain result. 73 Carefully read or listen to information in order to fully understand it.Use your common sense. If a report seems too good to be true, probably it is. Be especially careful of information contained in advertisements. 74 Evaluate “scientific” statements carefully, and be aware of quackery(江湖骗术).75 Friends and family members can be a great source of ideas and inspiration, but each of us needs to find a healthy lifestyle that works for us.Developing the ability to evaluate reasonably and independently about the health problems will serve you well throughout your life.A. Make choice that are right for you.B. The goal of an ad is to sell you something.C. Be sure to work through the critical questions.D. And examine the findings of the original research.E. Distinguish between research reports and public health advice.F. Be aware that information may also be incorrectly explained by an author’s point of view.G. The following suggestions can help you sort through the health information you receive from common sources.Passage9(2013·高考北京卷)UrbanizationUntil relatively recently, the vast majority of human beings lived and died without ever seeing a city. The first city was probably founded no more than 5,500 years ago.____1_____In fact, nearly everyone lived on farms or in tiny rural (乡村的) villages. It was not until the 20th century that Great Britain became the first urban society in history—a society in which the majority of people live in cities and do not farm for a living.Britain was only the beginning. ___2____The process of urbanization—the migration (迁徙) of people from the countryside to the city—was the result of modernization, which has rapidly transformed how people live and where they live. In 1990,fewer than 40% of Americans lived in urban areas. Today, over 82% of Americans live in cities. Only about 2% live on farms.____3____Large cities were impossible until agriculture became industrialized. Even in advanced agricultural societies,it took about ninety-five people on farms to feed five people in cities.____4_____Until modern times, those living in cities were mainly the ruling elite(精英) and the servants, laborers and professionals who served them. Cities survived by taxing farmers and were limited in size by the amount of surplus food that the rural population produced and by the ability to move this surplus from farm to city.Over the past two centuries, the Industrial Revolution has broken this balancebetween the city and the country. _____5_____Today,instead of needing ninety-five farmers to feed five city people, one American farmer is able to feed more than a hundred non-farmers.A.That kept cities very small.B.The rest live in small towns.C.The effects of urban living on people should be considered.D.Soon many other industrial nations became urban societies.E.But even 200 years ago, only a few people could live in cities. Over forty percent of Americans worry about losing eyesight, but it’s easy to include steps into our daily life to ensure healthy eyes. Here are five suggestions for a lifetime of healthy eyesight:Schedule yearly exams. 36 Experts advise parents to bring babies 6 to 12 months of age to the doctor for a careful check. The good news is that millions of children now can have yearly eye exams and following treatment, including eyeglasses.Protect against UV rays(紫外线). Long-term stay in the sun creates risk to your eyes. No matter what the season is, it’s extremely important to wear sunglasses. 37 Give your eyes a break. Vitamins(维生素) C and E help protect eyesight and promote eye health.Practice safe wear and care of contact lenses(隐形眼镜). Many Americans use contact lenses to improve their eyesight.

For Questions 41-45,you are required to reorganize these paragraphs int0 a coherent text by choosing from the list A-G to filling them int0 the numbered boxes. Paragraphs E and G have been correctly placed. Mark your answers on ANSWER SHEET 1. (10 points)Long before Man lived on the Earth, there were fishes, reptiles, birds, insects, and some mammals. Although some oftheseanimals were ancestors of kinds living today, others are now extinct, that is,they have no descendants alive now.41. Very occasionally the rocks showimpression of skin, so that, apart from color, we can build up a reasonablyaccurate picture of an animal that died millions of years ago. The kind of rockin which the remains are found tells us much about the nature of the originalland, often of the plants that grew on it, and even of its climate.42. . Nearly all of the fossils that we know were preserved in rocksformed by water action, and most of these are of animals that lived in or nearwater. Thus it follows that there must be many kinds of mammals, birds, andinsects, of which we know nothing.43. . There were also crab-like creatures, whose bodies were coveredwith a horny substance. The body segments each had two pairs of legs, one pairfor walking on the sandy bottom, the other for swimming. The head was a kind ofshield with a pair of compound eyes, often with thousands of lenses. They wereusually an inch or two long but some were 2 feet.44. . Of these, the ammonites are very interesting and important. They have a shell composed of many chambers, each representing a temporary homeof the animal. As the young grew larger it grew a new chamber and sealed offthe previous one. Thousands of these can be seen in the rocks on the DorsetCoast.45. .About 75 million years ago the Age of Reptiles was over andmost of the groups died out. The mammals quickly developed, and we can tracethe evolution of many familiar animals such as the elephant and horse. Many ofthe later mammals, though now extinct, were known to primitive man and werefeatured by him in cave paintings and on bone carvings.[A] The shell gush have a long history in the rock and many differentkinds are known.[B] Nevertheless, we know a great deal about many of them because theirbones and shells have been preserved in the rocks as fossils. From them we cantell their size and shape, how they walked, the kind of food they ate.[C] The first animals with true backbones were the fishes, first knownin the rocks of 375 million years ago. About 300 million years ago theamphibians, the animals able to live both on land and in water, appeared. Theywere giant, sometimes 8 feet long, and many of them lived in the swampy poolsin which our coal seam, or layer, or formed. The amphibians gave rise to thereptiles and for nearly 150 million years these were the principal forms oflife on land, in the sea, and in the air.[D] The best index fossils tend to be marine creatures. These animalsevolved rapidly and spread over large areas of the world.[E] The earliest animals whose remains have been found were all verysimple kinds and lived in the sea. Later forms are more complex, and amongthese are the sea?lilies, relations of the star?fishes, which had long armsand were attached by a long stalk to the sea bed, or to rocks.[F] When an animal dies the body, its bones, or shell, may often becarried away by streams into lakes or the sea and there get covered up by mud.If the animal lived in thesea its body would probably sink and be covered withmud. More and more mud would fall upon it until the bones or shell becomeembedded and preserved.[G] Many factors can influence how fossils are preserved in rocks.Remains of an organism may be replaced by minerals, dissolved by an acidicsolution to leave only their impression, or simply reduced to a more stableform.41.【解析】选[B]。

1:A talk(give)tomorrow is written by Professor Zhang. 其余另有几个大概代词汇的形式变更,如no one/none、other/another等.例2:The king decided to see the painter by (he). 指示代词汇:this that these those such same大概代词汇:some any each every one none no one few a few little a little all both other another others neither either 等疑问代词汇:what which who whom whose 等,用于特殊疑问句对接代词汇战闭系代词汇是考主从复合句的对接闭系,应根据主从复合句的闭系决定采用. 3:I am(tall)than Liu Wen.He is the tallest students in my class. 4:The children were playing on the ground,enjoying____,dirty but happy. 5:His boss was____angry as to fire him. 6:He did not do_____his father had asked him to do. 7:Those_____want to go to the village must sign here. What whether, as if, as though叹息句 becausehow 对接代词汇 what, who whom whose对接词汇 which how many/much2.并列句并列连词汇 no matter+wh-等句子对接副词汇 when where why how -ever 名词汇性从句 no matter+wh- 等主语从句表语从句种类宾语从句共位语从句先止词汇闭系代词汇that which who whim whose3. 10:Mr Smith took a plane to London ____ of taking a train. 11:Just then,he saw a blackboard in_____ of him. 常常使用的连词汇有and,or,but,so,for,while等,常常使用的闭联短语有both……and,either……or,neither……nor,not only……but also等.例12:Little Wang Jun could not go to school,_____his family was too poor. 13:____ Marrie and Jannie like going to the theatre. 冠词汇只但是正在a,an,the之间推断;常常使用的介词汇有in,at,on,before,during等,常常考查牢固拆配;副词汇的量仍旧比较多,如:however,never,yet,much等,然而普遍不会考查.ly形式的办法副词汇.例14:Jackie likes to drive at____ high speed. 15:Old Tom’s grand·daughter used to visit him _____ Saturday afternoons. 16:Though Liu Qiang did the same work ____ Zhang Wen did,he got a lower pay ______ Zhang Wen. 27:It was only one day left , _____ ,his father had no idea to answer him. 1.…The exam, ________was originally to be held in our classroom, was changed to the library at the last minute.2…the head of the village was tying up his horse to my car to pull it to a small town some 20 kilometres away ________there was a garage. 3.
常见的表示例证关系的标志词语有:for example, for instance, in fact/as a matter of fact, actually, in other words/that is to say 等。

English Composition Topic: The Impact of Technology on Social InteractionIn the modern era, technology has become an integral part of our daily lives. It has revolutionized the way we communicate, work, and entertain ourselves. One of the most significant impacts of technology is on social interaction. On one hand, it has made it easier for people to connect with each other regardless of distance. On the other hand, it has also raised concerns about the quality of these interactions.Firstly, technology has bridged geographical gaps like never before. With the advent of social media platforms, instant messaging, and video calls, people can now maintain relationships with friends and family members who are thousands of miles away. This has created a global community where sharing experiences, ideas, and emotions is just a click away. Moreover, technology has also facilitated the formation of new relationships. Online platforms provideopportunities to meet people with similar interests, leading to the creation of niche communities. These communities can offer support, advice, and camaraderie, which can be particularly valuable for those who may feel isolated in their offline lives. However, the ubiquity of technology in social interactions also has its downsides. Face-to-face communication has become less frequent, leading to a potential decrease in social skills. There is a risk that people may become more comfortable interacting through screens rather than in person, which can result in a lack of empathy and understanding.Additionally, the quality of relationships may be compromised. While it is easy to amass a large number of online friends, the depth and authenticity of these connections can be questionable. The curated nature of online profiles may lead to a performance of identity rather than genuine self-expression, which can affect thetrust and closeness in relationships. In conclusion, technology has undeniably transformed social interaction in both positive and negative ways. It has the power to connect us like never before, but it is essential to be mindful of the potential pitfalls. Striking a balance between online and offline interactions, and ensuring that technology enhances rather than replaces meaningful relationships, is key to harnessing its benefits while mitigating its drawbacks.
