本课是新目标英语八年级上册第4单元第一课.本单元围绕谈论交通工具(transportation)和距离为中心话题,这个题材开展多种教学活动,与上一单元联系紧密.本节课是本单元的重点.通过学习谈论交通方式,为今后学习合理安排行程,合理选用交通工具以及设计实践调查报告并提出解决问题的简单方案打下基础,同时通过Howdoyougettosp?以及pairwork的反复操练,进一步提高学生听、说、读、写综合素质能力。

间主题单元学习概述本单元以交通为话题、以谈论出行方式为功能,以紧扣话题的5个对话、1个短语篇为载体,在具体语境中呈现了How、How far、How long 引导的特殊疑问句及回答,谈论如何到达目的地、行程多久及距离多远。
