On May 4th, 1879, after searching half a month in the western part of Baoxing, Sichuan the hunters hired(雇用)by David succeeded in bringing him a "black-and-white bear". (8分)On Christmas Day, 2003, a woman named Nancy Sue Brown took her daughter and grandchildren to 22.
see a movie at an AMC theater. When the movie was over, the crowd made for the exits. A theater employee had just finished mopping the hallway and dutifully placed the “wet floor” sign in the slippery area. No one slipped due to the wet conditions, but someone did manage to knock over the sign. And by the time Ms. Brown got to the area, the sign was lying on the floor. And shortly thereafter, so was she. Her foot got caught in the sign, in a bad way, and she fell. Unfortunately Ms. Brown had undergone a back operation, and the fall caused more damage than it otherwise would have. So she and her husband sued (提起诉讼).
AMC argued that the entire point of the “wet floor” sign above was to warn of danger, and therefore, courts should
encourage the use by not allowing Brown’s case to proceed(继续进行). AMC referred to a case about a December, 1998 incident, where a “wet floor” sign, not in use, fell to the floor causing another trip-and-fall. In that case, Georgia’s Court of Appeals ruled in favor of the store, but didn’t go so far as to say that “wet floor’ signs couldn’t give rise to legal liability (责任) in trip-and-fall accidents. In the Brown case, the Supreme Court therefore rejected AMC’s argument that the former case applied.
But the Browns argued something surprising that the “wet floor” sign was, itself, dangerous, because “using this type of sign in areas passed by lots of customers creates an unreasonable risk of foreseeable harm to the public in the form of tripping hazards(危险).” That’s right—the safety sign, used in the way it was designed, was itself dangerous. The court thankfully didn’t accept that argument, at least not entirely. But it did conclude that Brown’s case could continue to a jury(陪审团)—“a merchant’s selection and use of equipment designed to warn customers of one danger th at have the potential to expose them to a different one.”
1、According to the text, Ms. Brown ________.
A.slipped on the wet floor B.tripped over a warning sign
C.knocked over a warning sign D.was knocked down by the crowd
2、AMC mentioned the 1998 case in order to ________.
A.accept its legal liability for Ms. Brown’s loss
B.prove MS. Brown had some physical problems
C.stress that it had no legal liability for the accident
D.prove other customers were responsible for the accident
3、What can we learn about the Brown case from the last paragraph?
A.It would be judged by jury.
B.It would not be allowed to proceed.
C.The court would rule in favor of AMC.
D.The court accepted all the arguments of the Browns.
4、The underlined word “one” in the last paragraph refers to “________”.
A.danger B.customer C.business owner D.equipment in public places 23.(8分)If a family member blames you for something you have done, it is important to be careful about how you defend yourself. It is not a good idea to use ways that cause hurt, even if they would help you make a valid point. If you can think of an instance where the other person has done exactly what they accuse you of, for example, it would not be good manners to throw it in their face. Y ou should only bring it up if you don’t have a choice. Then, you should make sure that you do it respectfully.
Even if a family member intentionally goes against reasonable wishes you may have, you should understand that people see even the most fundamental things in very different ways. Remember that people are different. If you consider any noise after midnight to be intolerable, for example, others may see it is completely acceptable. It can take them a great deal of time to change their behavior for a demand that they do not understand.
Think about the family conflicts that you are worried about now. Check to see if your parents had similar problems. People who grow up with parents who fight unfairly often repeat the same behavior. Consider changing the unfair habits that you grew up with.
Understand that memories tend to change. In long-standing family disputes, all parties involved tend to have completely different recollections of the original problem.
Families are a curious concept — while family members often feel nothing but annoyed for one another, they will also often be there for them if they should ever be in serious trouble. When you feel resentment for someone, think about how far you would go for them if they happened to be in trouble. It could help soften you. Think about how you care for the other person.
1、Which of the following does the author agree with according to the first paragraph?
A.To fight back to defend yourself.
B.To target the problem, not the person.
C.To deal with a man as he deals with you.
D.To hurt each other when angry.
2、What does the underlined word “resentment” in the last paragraph mean?
A.Curiosity. B.Kindness. C.Concern. D.Anger.
3、Which of the following statements may the author approve of?
A.Family members share the same memories over family disputes.
B.Parents should set a good example in a family.
C.It’s easy for people to agree on different ideas.
D.Y ou can defend yourself by throwing facts back.
4、What is the best title of the passage ?
A.Think about how you care for other persons.
B.Learn to concern about family members.
C.How to deal with family conflicts wisely.
D.Learn to accept each other in a family.

which runs Capital Bikeshare and is responsible for trails, bike lanes (车道) and pedestrian planning.
You bike to work every day, right?
Not every day. But most days I bike for at least part of it. So I’ll Metro and then bike from NoMa down to Navy Yard on a Bikeshare bike.
Do you stop at all stop signs?
Of course.
When you’re driving a car, have you ever shouted or shaken your fist at a bicyclist?
No, I haven’t shouted at them, but I have taken into account the kind of frustration most drivers might feel behind a cyclist. But my position is that I respect their right to be on the road and try to give them as much space as possible. Should bicyclists be required to have licenses?
No. I think that would really cut down on the convenience of bicycling. I don’t really think it makes sense and it would be a great burden for the government to try and license all riders. What we prefer is to establish policies and make it safer for everyone.
Would you support a one-day event where people can only walk or bike or take public transportation?
That would be nice, but it might be a bit of a challenge. What we saw on the Metro closure day was that on very short notice a lot of people found other ways to get to work, and that was exciting. We offered a free day membership on Bikeshare, and we had a lot of people try it for the first time. We had 149 people join or renew that day.
1、What can we infer about most drivers driving behind a cyclist?
A.They may feel annoyed and upset.

I am writing to extend my deepest gratitude to you because with your help I achieved great success in that English speech contest.

But for you timely help, I fear that I would not have gained such a great honor. For the following two years I will study hard to reward your sincere help.
Yours truly
LiMing。
