七年级下课时掌控第三单元作文英语

七年级下课时掌控第三单元作文英语全文共6篇示例,供读者参考篇1Yay, it's English class time again! I love learning to write cool stories and stuff in English. Mrs. Robinson is the best teacher ever. She always makes the lessons super fun and easy to understand.Today we started the third unit all about descriptive writing. At first, I wasn't sure what that meant, but Mrs. Robinson explained it really well. Descriptive writing means using lots of details to paint a picture in the reader's mind. It's like you're an artist, but instead of colors and a brush, you use words to create the image! The first thing we learned was how to describe people's appearances. Mrs. Robinson had us all pair up and describe our partner's looks to the class. I got paired with my best friend Jake. Describing him was pretty easy since I've known him forever.I said: "Jake has messy blonde hair that's always sticking up in different directions. His eyes are a warm brown color, kind of like melted chocolate. He has a sprinkle of freckles across hisnose and cheeks. When he smiles really big, you can see the gap between his front teeth."When it was Jake's turn, he made me sound like some kind of fairy princess! He's such a goof but I love him. After we practiced with appearances, Mrs. Robinson taught us about describing settings and scenery. We read this awesome story that made me feel like I was actually in an enchanted forest. The author used details about the twisted vines, dappled sunlight, and chirping bird songs to set the scene so vividly. For our homework, we had to write a few paragraphs portraying our bedroom in great detail. I decided to describe how my room looks early on a Saturday morning. I wrote:"Pale morning light filters through the thin curtains, casting a soft golden glow. Clothes and stuffed animals are strewn haphazardly, creating a rainbow of fabric across the rumpled bedsheets. The scent of pancakes wafts in from the kitchen downstairs, making my mouth water. The tranquil scene is interrupted by the sudden buzz of my alarm clock, shattering the peaceful quiet."Describing with all the senses like sight, smell, and sound really brings the words to life. It's like I'm actually there again! We're not done with descriptive writing yet though. Next up is learning how to depict emotions, personalities, and abstract ideas through detailed language. I think that will be the trickiest part so far.Emotions are hard enough for me to understand, let alone describe! How do you put a feeling like joy, anger or fear into words that really capture what it feels like? When I'm happy, it's like a bubbly, fizzy sensation in my chest. But that probably sounds weird if I write it like that.Same with portraying personalities through descriptions. My little brother is shy, energetic, and a total goofball all rolled into one crazy kid. Trying to illustrate his unique personality on paper is going to be a challenge. I'll have to pay close attention to the specific details that make him so him. Then there are those vague, esoteric concepts like love, freedom, and inner strength. How can anyone use concrete descriptions to paint a picture of something so abstract? I feel like I'll need a philosophical dictionary just to understand the words we're supposed to be describing!Despite how tricky it might be, I'm actually really excited to tackle descriptive writing for emotions, characteristics, and conceptual ideas. Being able to craft language so powerfully thatit provokes certain feelings and imagery in the reader's mind is an amazing skill. Writers must be like magical wordsmiths to wield such control over intangible things.Maybe if I practice enough, I'll get really good at it too. Then I can write beautiful stories and poems that come alive through vivid, emotional descriptions. Who knows, I might even grow up to be an author someday! For now though, I'll just focus on rocking this third unit.Bring it on, descriptive writing! This third grader is ready conquer all your challenges with the power of details. I'll describe my way to an A+ by painting word pictures that leap off the page. Let's go!篇2Hooray, We Mastered Unit 3!Boy oh boy, was 7th grade English composition Unit 3 a doozy or what? Unit 1 on basic sentence structure was pretty easy peasy lemon squeezy. And Unit 2 about expanding sentences with adjectives and adverbs wasn't too bad either. But Unit 3 on crafting longer passages and organizing ideas into paragraphs? Whew, let me tell you, that one really worked my little brain! At first, I was completely lost. The teacher kept droning on and on about "topic sentences" and "supporting details" and "concluding thoughts." It all sounded like gibberish to me. I'd been so used to just writing little standalone sentences that putting them together into bigger blobs of text made my head spin. Then we started doing the practice exercises, and I began to get the hang of it, little by little. The first step was picking a main idea for the whole paragraph. The teacher said to pick something simple, like "My Favorite Game" or "A Fun Day at the Beach." She said the main idea is like the big bucket that holds all your thoughts for that paragraph.Next, we had to write a topic sentence that clearly stated that main idea right at the start. That's like putting a label on the bucket so everyone knows what's inside. For my practice paragraph about my favorite game, I wrote: "My absolute favorite game in the whole world is basketball."After the topic sentence, it was time to pack that bucketful of details! The teacher called these the "supporting sentences." These gave more description and examples about the main idea. Staying on topic was key. For my basketball paragraph, I wrote afew sentences describing why I love the fast pace, teamwork, and jumping to score baskets. Then, just before wrapping it up, we needed one last zinger of a sentence to leave the reader satisfied. The teacher called this the "concluding sentence." It's like putting a lid on that full bucket so nothing else can get in or out. For basketball, I concluded: "Playing basketball is an awesome way to get exercise, be part of a team, and have nonstop fun!"Once I understood the paragraph "bucket" pattern oftopic-supportings-conclusion, Unit 3 stopped seeming so impossible. I was filling up buckets left and right! A paragraph about my summer vacation, one for my favorite book, another describing my crazy little brother. Buckets buckets everywhere!Admittedly, some of my first paragraphs had just a few sentences while others droned on forever. But Mama Ramirez, my English teacher, was super supportive and marked up my drafts to show me how to control the length. Too short needed more supporting details to fill the bucket. Too long needed to cut some rambling sentences that went off topic. Little by little, I got better at packing each paragraph nice and full, but not overflowing. The next huge leap was stringing multiple paragraphs together into a whole essay piece. Wow, this really boggled my brain at first! Paragraphs on their own made sense, but putting a bunch of them together felt like utter chaos. Mama Ramirez to the rescue again! She showed us a trick for organizing the paragraphs in a line, kind of like arranging buckets on a window ledge. First, you need to pick one big overall theme for the whole piece to tie it all together. For me, this became "The Best Reasons to Join Your School Basketball Team."篇3Unit 3 Was Super Hard But I Mastered It!Oh my gosh, you guys! Unit 3 in my 7th grade English class was sooooo difficult. I thought I was never going to get through it. But I worked really really hard and didn't give up, and now I totally mastered it! Let me tell you all about my big struggle and huge accomplishment.Unit 3 was all about writing essays and big papers. We had to learn all the different parts like the introduction, body paragraphs, conclusion, and things like thesis statements and supporting details. My teacher Mr. Patterson gave us so manynotes and handouts about it. He made us do pre-writing activities and outlines before we could even start the actual writing. It was a huge pain! The first essay we had to write was just a basic 5 paragraph essay about our favorite movie. That one wasn't too bad since we got to pick our own topic and I love movies. I wrote about how amazing the new Marvel movie was. I followed all the rules about having a hook and thesis in the introduction, then 3 body paragraphs with clear topic sentences and examples. And I wrapped it up with a conclusion that restated my thesis. I got an A- on that one!But then things started getting really tough. Next we had to write a persuasive essay trying to convince the reader about something. We had to come up with a claim and provide strong evidence to support it. I chose to write that virtual reality gaming is the future of entertainment. I had some good points but Mr. Patterson said my evidence wasn't quite persuasive enough. I only got a B on that one.The worst assignment by far was the big research paper we had to write. We had to find a topic, do tons of research and take notes from different sources, make an outline, and then write thewhole paper, which had to be at least 5 pages long! I spent weeks working on this thing.I decided to write about whether schools should ban junk food and only serve healthy meals in the cafeteria. I made a claim that they should ban junk food, and then had to find all this evidence about nutrition, obesity rates, and student health. Taking notes from books, websites, and journals was such a drag. When it finally came time to write the actual paper, I was so stressed out. I had to follow all the proper formatting for headings, citations, and the works cited page. Putting all my research together into a coherent paper with smooth transitions and clear reasoning was really hard. I worked on drafts for days and days.Somehow I managed to turn it in on time, and a few weeks later, I got it back with a score...and I got an A- Mr. Patterson wrote that it was very well researched and I made a compelling argument. I was so relieved and proud of myself. After that huge research paper, the last part of Unit 3 was easy breezy. We learned about different modes of writing like descriptive, narrative, expository, and more. Those writing assignments were a piece of cake compared to that massive paper.By the time Unit 3 was over, I felt like I had leveled up my writing skills so much. All that pre-writing, outlining, drafting, and formatting practice really paid off. Now I'm totally prepared for longer essays and research papers in high school and college. Yay me!Unit 3 was definitely a major obstacle and I wanted to give up so many times. All the rules, the outlining, the research...it was just so much work. But I stuck with it and learned so much valuable stuff. I'm really glad Mr. Patterson pushed us so hard because now I'm a master writer and researcher. Bring on Unit 4, I'm ready!篇4Wow, Unit 3 of my 7th grade English writing class was really tough! But I worked super hard and now I feel like I'm an expert. Let me tell you all about it!It started off with learning about different types of essays. That was kind of boring at first, but then I realized how important it is to know whether you're writing a persuasive essay, a narrative essay, an expository essay, or something else. The structures and purposes are really different. For the persuasive essay part, we had to pick a topic we felt strongly about and try to convince the reader to agree with our view. I chose to write about why kids should get less homework. I found lots of research showing homework doesn't really help elementary students learn better. Too much can even be stressful and lead to health issues! I laid out my arguments using strong transition words and backed everything up with facts from reliable sources. My teacher said my counterarguments showing the other side were also really well done. The narrative essay unit was fun because I got to work on creative writing skills. The challenge was setting up an engaging plot with a clear situation, rising action, climax, and resolution. I wrote a story about going camping with my family and how everything went wrong in a funny way. Using strong descriptive language and building tension through the conflicts made it way more interesting to read than just summarizing what happened. Throwing in some dialogue to develop the characters was harder than I expected, but good practice. As for the expository essay, that was probably the most difficult for me. You have to take a more objective view and explain or inform the reader about a topic in a logical,well-structured way. No messing around with made-up storieshere! I chose to write about the history of basketball, which I had to research thoroughly using lots of different sources. Citing all those sources correctly with the proper formatting was so confusing at first. But I think I nailed the essay structure with a hook introduction, clear thesis statement, body paragraphs explaining all the key points, and a conclusion that restated the main ideas. Whew!Overall, Unit 3 really leveled up my essay writing game. I might still mix up affect and effect or its and it's sometimes. But now I understand the important elements that go into each different type of essay like a pro. Thesis statements, transitions, evidence, conclusions - got it down! Bring on Unit 4, I'm ready!篇5Wow, Unit 3 in English was really hard! I felt like I was going to pull my hair out trying to understand all the grammar rules and vocabulary words. But I didn't give up, and after a lot of hard work, I think I finally got it mastered! Let me tell you all about it.First up was learning the past perfect tense. Man, that one really had me stumped for a while. I kept mixing it up with the simple past. But Ms. Roberts explained it really clearly - the past perfect is for talking about something that happened beforeanother action in the past. Like "I had studied hard before the test." The hard part was remembering to use "had" plus the past participle. I made a ton of flashcards and my mom quizzed me every night until it finally clicked. The vocabulary was rough too. We had to learn words like "acquire," "spontaneous," and "encounter." I'm like, what even ARE those words?? My brain couldn't handle all the big fancy words at first. But I made up silly rhymes and stories to help me remember their meanings. Like for "spontaneous," I imagined this spontaneous dancing zebra just randomly breaking out in dance moves. Weird, I know, but it worked!Reading comprehension was probably the toughest part though. We had to analyze all these stories and poems for things like themes, figurative language, and author's purpose. At first my head was just spinning. But Ms. Roberts taught us ways to mark up the texts and look for clues. We also did a lot of discussions where everyone shared their ideas. Hearing my classmates' insights really helped me understand the deeper meanings better. There was a ton of writing too - essays, stories, poems, you name it. I'm not gonna lie, I'm not a huge fan of writing. It's just so hard to get all my thoughts out clearly on paper! But Ms.Roberts gave us super helpful graphic organizers and checklists to plan out our writing. And she let us share our drafts with partners to get feedback, which was awesome. I could tell my writing skills were really improving by the end of the unit.Oh, and I can't forget about that giant Unit 3 project! We had to do tons of research on a famous artist or author and then create a multimedia presentation about their life and work. I picked Maya Angelou since my parents love her poems. It was a huge amount of work - I had to read her biography, analyze examples of her writing, make a slideshow and video, and prepare a speech to present it all. I'm not going to lie, there were times I wanted to give up because it was just so overwhelming. But Ms. Roberts broke it all down into smaller steps for us, and she met with each of us individually for guidance along the way. Little by little, it all started coming together. I'm actually really proud of how my final project turned out! I felt like a total expert on Maya Angelou by the time I presented it to the class. Ms. Roberts said my hard work and perseverance really showed.Looking back now, Unit 3 was definitely the hardest unit we've done so far this year. But I learned SO much - way more than I even realized at the time. All the grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, analyzing, researching, presenting...it was a lot.But I stuck with it and used all the strategies Ms. Roberts taught us, and it paid off big time. I feel like a way better reader, writer, and all-around student now. Sometimes learning is hard and frustrating, but that just makes accomplishing it feel even more awesome! So to all my fellow 7th grade English students out there, keep pushing through Unit 3! You've got this. Do all the practice, use the tools your teacher gives you, ask for help when you need it, and most of all...DON'T GIVE UP! It's gonna click eventually, I promise. And when it does, you'll feel like a total rock star. Unit 3 may be hard, but mastering it makes it all worth it. Now, who's ready to take on Unit 4??篇6Yay, it's English class again! I love when we get to work on our writing. Mrs. Smith is really nice and always makes it fun. Today we're starting the third unit all about descriptive writing. That's where you use a lot of details to describe things so the reader can picture it really clearly in their mind. The first thing Mrs. Smith had us do was read a few examples of really great descriptive paragraphs. One was about a beautiful garden and it made me feel like I was really there, smelling theflowers and looking at all the pretty colors. The other one described this kid's super messy bedroom and I could totally picture clothes and toys thrown everywhere! Using a lot of specific details is key for descriptive writing.Next, Mrs. Smith gave us a practice exercise. She put a random object in a box and we had to reach in and feel it without looking. Then we had to write down as many descriptive words as we could about what it felt like - was it smooth or rough, hard or squishy, big or little, etc. I got a really cool seashell! I described how it was bumpy on the outside but smooth on the inside, and felt cool and sandy. Johnny got a bouncy ball and said it was squishy but firm at the same time. Descriptive writing uses tons of adjectives! After that, we moved on to the main assignment for the unit. Mrs. Smith told us we each had to pick one person, one place, and one object that was important to us. Then we had to write super detailed descriptive paragraphs about each one, painting a picture with words. She gave us a whole list of questions to think about to include lots of specific details. For my person paragraph, I picked my dad. I wrote about his crinkly smile lines from laughing so much, his bald head that's always kind of sunburnt, and his ginormous hairy feet that arebigger than my whole body! I described his favorite red t-shirt that has a hole in the sleeve and is starting to look pretty worn. For smells, I included his aftershave that mom got him for Christmas and the grease smell that gets stuck on him from working on cars all day. I tried to paint a full picture of my dad through all the details! Then for my place paragraph, I chose to write about our backyard. I described the prickly bushes around the edge that always leave scratches on my legs when I run through them. I talked about the rusty old swing set that creaks every time I swing on it and the little clubhouse me and my brother made out of an old cardboard box. I included the fresh smell of the grass after dad mows it and the taste of the sour lemon drops that fall off the tree. My favorite part was describing how the fireflies blink in the summer and make the whole yard glow golden at night. For my object paragraph, I picked my childhood teddy bear that I've had since I was a baby. His name is butterscotch because of his tan fur. I wrote all about how he's missing one eye and his fur is bald in some spots from being cuddled so much. His arm is also ripped at the seam and you can see some stuffing poking out. But I love the way he smells like my bedroom mixedwith a hint of fabric softener from being washed so many times. I described how he's superbly squishy and the perfect size for hugging. He's just the most comforting thing ever. After we all wrote our three descriptive paragraphs, we had to swap with a partner and give each other friendly feedback. Sara read mine and said I used really vivid language that allowed her to clearly picture everything I described. She suggested adding a few more details about textures and sounds. Then I read her paragraphs and told her she did an amazing job describing that bakery her grandma takes her to - I could practically smell the fresh bread and pastries!overall, I feel like I'm really starting to get the hang of this whole descriptive writing thing. Using tons of specific sensory details for sights, sounds, smells, tastes, and textures is key. I can't wait for our next assignment where we take our paragraphs and expand them into full descriptive essays. This unit is going to make me a super descriptive writing master!。
