Introduction

As the summer break approaches, it’s important to keep the children engaged in learning activities to prevent the “summer slide,” which is the loss of academic skills often experienced during extended breaks from school. To help our Kindergarten Senior Class continue to develop their English language skills during the summer, we have created a fun and comprehensive English learning plan. This plan aims to keep the children excited about learning while reinforcing the skills and knowledge they have gained throughout the school year. The activities included in this plan are designed to be interactive, playful, and age-appropriate, ensuring that the children have a great time while learning.

Week 1: Phonics Play

To kick off the summer break, we will focus on phonics with fun and engaging activities that will reinforce the children’s understanding of letter-sound relationships. We will start by reviewing the alphabet and the sounds of each letter. Then, we will move on to activities

su ch as “Letter Sound Scavenger Hunt,” where the children will search for objects that start with a specific letter sound, and “Phonics Bingo,” a game that will challenge their listening skills while having fun. We will also incorporate storytelling and songs to make the learning experience more enjoyable.

Week 2: Story Time Adventures

During the second week, we will immerse the children in the world of storytelling. We will focus on reading and creating stories, allowing the children to use their imagination and language skills. Each day, we will read a different story and engage the children in discussions about the characters, settings, and plot. We will also encourage them to create their own stories using story prompts and picture cards. Additionally, we will have a “Storytelling Show and Tell” session where the children can share their favorite stories with the class.

Week 3: Creative Writing

In the third week, we will encourage the children to express themselves through creative writing.
