My grandfather came from Hungary and was the only one i n his family who settled down in the United States. The rest of his family remained in Europe. When World War I
broke out, he seemed to have become another man, downhe arted. Such obvious change was not born out of concern for h is welfare, but out of fear: if his only son, my uncle, had to go t o war, it would be cousin fighting against cousin.
One day in 1918, my Uncle Milton received his draft notice. My grandparents were very upset. But my mother, at the age of 10, felt on top of the world about her soldier brother going o ff to war. The moment came when my uncle and the other soldiers,

The train slowly pulled out, but not about a thousand yard s when it suddenly paused. Everyone stared in wonder as the train slowly returned to the station. There was a dead silence before the doors opened and the men started to step out. When I was nine years old, I loved to go fishing with my da d. But the only thing that wasn’t very fun about it was that he c ould catch many fish while I couldn’t catch anything. I usually got pretty upset and kept asking him why. He always answere d, “Son, if you want to catch a fish, you have to think like a fis h”, I remember being even more upset then because, “I’m not a fish!” I didn’t know how to think like a fish. As I got a little older I began to understand what my dad re ally meant. So, I read some books on fish. And I even joined t he local fishing club and started attending the monthly meetin

皮) and the sun hurts their eyes… The more I understood fish, the more I became effective at finding and catching them.
