初三六选五(一)
A.B.C.D.E.F.1.It was a warm day in July. Alice and her sister were sitting on the grass in a field. Alice's sister was reading but Alice was bored. 1 She looked around and sighed. She was hot and she was beginning to feel sleepy. She yawned again.
Suddenly a White Rabbit with pink eyes ran past her.
"Oh dear! Oh dear! I'm late! Very late!" he was speaking to himself. 2 He looked at it and said,"Oh dear! Oh dear!" again, and continued running.
"How very curious!" Alice thought "A rabbit in a jacket with a pocket watch! 3 "
She got up and ran after him. He went across the grass to the corner of the field and disappeared down a rabbit hole. 4
Down, down, down she fell, into the deep, dark hole. She looked down. 5 All around her there were a lot of bookshelves and cupboards. There were also some pictures and maps on the walls. She saw some jars on the shelves. She picked one up and read the label.
I wonder where he's going.
There was nothing for her to do.
She couldn't see the bottom of it.
She opened it but it was empty.
He stopped and took a big watch out of his jacket pocket.
Alice followed him down the hole, too.
A.B.2.There is no one like you in the world. 1 You should be confident, because you are special, just like there are no two same leaves in the world.
As we all know, nobody is perfect. If you are not the most beautiful or the smartest person, that's OK. 2 then try your best to make some changes. If you have tried your best but still aren't satisfied, ask yourself two simple questions. First, are you happy with who you are? 3 then there is nothing to worry about. If you are OK with yourself and you have done your best in everything, you should be satisfied.Second, have you given yourself enough time to improve? 4
Self-confidence is also very important. If you are confident, you will be OK with the way you are. If you are not confident, here is some advice. First, find out your talents and try to use them. 5 Third, forgive yourself for some mistakes you have made.
If you feel there is a room for improving,
You know improving takes time.
C.D.E.F.Build up your confidence at first.
If the answer is yes,
Second, don't always compare yourself with others.
So you should learn to be happy with yourself.
A.B.C.D.E.F.3.下面的材料A~F 分别介绍了六种宠物。

请根据Mary ,Kim ,Eric ,Mr. Brown 和Mrs. Miller 五个人的需求,帮助他们选出合适的宠物。

1 Mary likes to be quiet. She wants to keep a nice pet at home. She hopes it can decorate her room. But she doesn't want to spend too much money on it. 2 Kim, a college student, knows little about animals. He only wants to play with the pet. But his room isn't big enough. 3 Eric likes to play with the pet. If it can follow his instructions, he must be very happy. He hopes they can be good friends. 4 Mr. Brown is a businessman. He is busy with his work every day. He wants to choose a clever pet for his daughter who is only 4 years old. He doesn't care how much it costs. 5 Mrs. Miller is a housewife. She feels lonely at home. She wants a pet that can talk. She hopes it can make her life lively. But she is afraid of getting hurt.
Birds are colorful and nice to look at. Some birds can even say hello to the masters. They are safe and stay in their cages. However, training a bird takes time.
If you love to be silent, a fish is one of the best pets for you. It can add beauty to your home as well. But you must make sure fish eat the right kind of food. Cleaning their home needs much time.
Hamsters don't need a large place to live and can be easily taken care of. You can play with them. If you touch them with your fingers, they may hurt you.
Keeping a turtle as a pet is fun. Turtles are the quietest pets. If you are less than five years old, you'd better not keep turtles because they can spread salmonella (沙氏门菌).
Many families keep dogs because they are smart. They can even understand what you say. They like to play with their masters. But you need to spend time walking them.
Cats may be many children's best choice. They are beautiful and cute. However, keeping cats may cost much money because you need to buy some toys for them.
4.The term "culture shock" is used to describe the anxiety (焦虑)produced when a person moves to a new environment. When you visit a new place, you are forced to meet your everyday needs, like food and language in a totally new and different way. 1 After all, it is you who must take steps to feel better. Here are a few suggestions.
A. B. C. D. E. F. 2 You may feel annoyed that you are experiencing a culture shock after having prepared so long
and so hard for your trip. No matter how much information you read and how well you speak English, you can't always do everything perfectly.
An open mind helps. Try not to form an opinion about the new culture soon. You might be quick to judge the food, manners and the ways to communicate and as a result would want to do things the way you are used to. Do not think of the US culture as better or worse, just different—you will be more willing to try new things. 3
Participate (参与). Just watching life go by you is not going to help you much. You will have to try out
a few things for yourself. 4 People around you will usually be ready to help if something goes wrong.
If you are unsure of what to do in a new environment, follow others.
Be Humorous. 5
Finally, believe that you can live with the differences and confusions(困惑)and still learn and enjoy yourself.
Don't worry about making a mistake.
Getting over culture shock depends upon you.
Do not expect to do things perfectly the first time.
Our cultures help us understand who we are and what we believe.
Try to accept the differences you are finding between your home and host cultures.
Never forget that humor is one of the best methods for almost any difficult situation.
5.Sometimes you just need to have a great party! There's nothing like hosting and seeing all your friends
together in the same place. But how do you do it? Here are some ways.
Decide on a theme
Try to come up with a theme that might get everyone excited. Write down different fun activities, types of music, and others that help you think of possible themes. Or don't have a theme at all 1 .
Pick a place for your party
Where are you going to have the party? Will it be a big event? Could you have it at your house or a friend's house? Did you have a place in mind, like a restaurant, movie theater, or park? 2 Decide on the time for your party
If it's a birthday party, most people try to have the party on that day. Or, 3 , so you and your guests don't have school or work the next morning. Most parties are after dinner, but a brunch or afternoon party works, too.
4
A.B.C.D.E.F.This will be partly decided by where you're having the party. Make sure that the place is large enough. Also think about whether you want your friends to bring friends or not. That could seriously change how many heads you have to plan for and mouths you have to feed.
Get the word out
You can talk to guests in person about the party or just call them. Start talking about the party at least two weeks before, so they don't make plans and 5 . Remind them once or twice before the party, too.
Make sure the place is suitable for the activities
any weekend evening or night is best
Sometimes it's just nice for friends to get together
Decide how much you will spend
Plan your guest list
you have enough time to plan everything
A.B.C.D.E.6.Certain things you do at one place might be totally OK. But you do the same thing in another place and it does not come through at all or it might even be totally misunderstood. 1 .
To start with, attention is paid to personal space by Finns a lot. When waiting in line, they keep one meter or more from each other. If you are standing too close to someone while talking you will notice that 2 .
Second, do not make eye contact with Finns. For them, eye contact is not very common, even when talking to friends and family. It might be a sign of rudeness in other cultures not to look each other in the eye when talking. 3 .
Also, touching strangers in Finland is not allowed. They might feel uncomfortable. For most Finns, physical contact while talking even among friends is not common. They do not give kisses on the cheek when greeting each other. Mostly the greeting is saying hi or shaking hands.
Finns do not talk about their salaries and it is very impolite to ask even friends about how much they earn. 4 . No one comments about each other's appearance or clothes unless someone asks for an opinion.Because of all these, Finns are often considered unfriendly. Anyway, as the saying goes, " 5 ."Next time you travel to Finland, remember these rules.
When in Rome, do as the Romans do
the other person is trying to get a bit further away from you
In Finland it is simply just the opposite
Here are some rules you should know about when you are in Finland
Physical contact might make the other person feel uncomfortable
F.It is simply considered a part of their personal space
A.B.C.D.E.F.7.Billionaire Bill Gates reads about 50 books a year. Knowing the habits of successful people can help us improve and here are Gates' tips on how to read.
● Take notes in the margins (空白处).When you're reading, you have to focus on it. Are you taking the new knowledge? 1 For me,taking notes helps make sure that I'm really thinking hard about what's in there. Sometimes it takes me a long time to read a book because I write so much in the margins.● 2
I don't let myself start a book that I'm not going to finish Take a book called Infinite Jest for example. I watched The End of the Tour, a movie based on that book. I loved it. 3 If the book was like three-hundred-page book, there's no doubt that I want to read it after watching that movie. But it's quite long and hard to understand. I don't want to make an exception. 4
● Spare at least an hour every day.
You'd better sit down for an hour at a time, or you are not able to focus on what's in the book. 5 Maybe it is possible for magazine articles or short YouTube videos. So every night I'm spending a little over an hour reading a book and make some progress.
It's my rule to get to the end.
Don't start what you can't finish.
But now I'm trying to decide if I'm starting or not.
You should prepare a lot before you start reading a book.
Are you connecting it with the knowledge you have learned?
It's not that kind of thing you can do five minutes here, ten minutes there.

A.B.C.D.E.F.9.In the age of the Internet, the idea of going to a public library to borrow a book may seem old-fashioned in many parts of the world. 1 It is the Czech Republic (捷克共和国). 2 In fact, there is one library for every 1, 971 Czech people. The survey found —four times as many, relative to population, as the average European country, and 10 times as many as the United States, which has one for every 19, 583 people. 3 It's a long story. In 1919, the government introduced a law to promote national education in their own language. Every place, from a big city to a tiny village, must have one library. And it worked.
The library law lasted for around 80 years, even in wartime. In 2001, to save money, the requirement was dropped. 4 Even today, Czech people visit libraries very often. If you think these libraries are outdated, you are wrong. 5 Today, they are used as local people's meeting places. They also hold art exhibitions (展览) and computer classes. But for most Czech people,no matter how the libraries change, their biggest function is still lending books.
However, the reading habit has been kept.
Why are there so many libraries?
There are more libraries than grammar schools.
They are doing what they can to stay close to people's lives.
But people in one country are still keeping the habit of going to libraries.
Libraries are everywhere in the country.
10.When facing difficulties, what will you do? Will you move forward or backward? Some people choose to step backward waiting to see if there will be anyone coming to help. 1 In China, these people are called "nong chao er"(弄潮儿). 2 Maybe you can never imagine that "chao" stands for the Qiantang River tidal bore (钱塘湖).
The Qiantang River runs across Zhejiang Province. Every year, in August on the Chinese lunar calendar (农历), big waves show up on the river. 3 The "wall" is think and low at first. Then it become wider and rises higher. Besides, they can move as fast as a car, and sometimes, even faster than it.
What activities can people have during the bore? Tide-watching is a popular one. It first began in Southern Song Dynasty. Visitors went tide-watching from all over China. 4 The best riders could keep

Others stand out and fight bravely.
People even held a big water sports meet.
But what is "chao"?
Thousands of people cheer for them on the banks.
The waves look like a long, white wall.
A.B.C.D.E.F.11.请阅读以下短文,并从下列方框里的六个句子中选择五个还原到原文中,使原文的意思完整、连贯。

Taking good notes is a time-saving skill that will help you to become a better student in several ways. 1 Second, your notes are excellent materials to refer to when you are studying for a test. Third,note-taking offers variety to your study time and helps you to hold your interest.
You will want to take notes during classroom discussions and while reading a textbook or doing research for a report. 2 Whenever or however you take notes, keep in mind that note-taking is a selective process. 3
The following methods may work best for you.

●Carefully read the text and watch for words that can show main points and supporting facts.
● Write your notes in your own words.● 4
●Note any questions or ideas you may have about what was said or written.
As you take notes, you may want to use your own shorthand (速记法). When you do, be sure that you understand your symbols and that you use them all the time. 5
Use words, not complete sentences.
First, the simple act of writing something down makes it easier for you to understand and remember it.
Otherwise, you may not be able to read your notes later.
That means you must first decide what is important enough to include in your notes.
If you want to improve your study, you should take notes.
You will also want to develop your own method for taking notes.
12.请阅读下文,并从下列方框里的六个句子中选择四句还原到原文中,使原文的意思完整连贯。

A. B. C. D. E. F.Most people experience culture shock when they first arrive in a foreign country. It even happens if they
are just visiting and it cannot really be avoided. It is natural. I am going to tell you about the four common stages that people experience.
1 . During this stage, everything about the new country is exciting. The different food, customs
and habits of the culture seem amazing. Often a person will not miss anything about their own culture at this stage. There are too many new things to be interested in and most people feel very cheerful. But for many people this stage does come to an end.
Next is the negotiation 谈判stage. After spending some amount of time in the new country, you will find that the changes between new and old start to become clear. Challenges in communication and understanding of different cultures may lead to anger and can make you feel lost. Anxious, lonely feelings can also arise at this stage. 2 .
The third stage is called the adjustment stage. Everything about the culture is beginning to make sense.
People will usually get used to their daily life. 3 They have a better idea of what to expect in the new country. The life in the new country is normal now.
The final stage is known as the mastery stage. 4 They know what to expect and can join in completely with the new way of life.
Problems also start becoming easier to solve.
But then I remember that I am doing valuable research that will help us better understand the world.
The first stage is known as the honeymoon stage.
At this point, people will feel completely comfortable within the new culture.
It's very common here and people usually don't talk with each other very much.
People will miss their family and friends, and may strongly wish to return to what they understand as
normal.

"There are much more things China should be proud of. Many Chinese people often criticize China. At first. I believed that they didn't like China or that they loved Western countries. But later, I realized that they just set a very high standard for China. 5 China must be much better than other countries, "
The foreign language level is surprising.
This country of 1.4 billion people makes me feel safe.
A foreign girl living in China gave a very touching answer.
They believe that it's not enough to be number one in the world.
She believes China will be the strongest country in the world in future.
So it's convenient for people to travel in China.
A.B.C.D.14.Nowadays, there are many families in which both parents have jobs outside the home. And many couples are still working outside when their kids return home from school. Sometimes after school, kids will stay at home under the supervision (监管)of people like grandparents. 1 Because these kids have their own keys to the houses, they are often called latchkey (挂钥匙的)kids.
Being latchkey kids at home doesn't mean that they will get harmed by bad guys. Neighbors may agree to help parents watch kids outside the home. 2 For example, they're able to use an alarm system. And they are usually willing to call 911.
Besides, many latchkey kids know how to do some simple housework alone. For example, some latchkey kids may be able to prepare simple after-school snacks. 3 And they also know how to properly spare their time when being alone. However, some kids can still feel worried or helpless whenever parents are not around. 4 Special cameras can now be set up at home to provide real-time monitoring (监控). Now parents of latchkey kids may be able to enter a safe website, so that they can watch and guide their kids from their workplaces.
However, some working parents may still feel guilty about leaving their kids alone and unsupervised. So some parents choose to work at home. 5
Some parents now use technology to solve their latchkey kids' situations.
It lets them avoid hunger before parents arrive home.
Some latchkey kids can be more confident and brave.
And these kids also know how to prevent possible dangers.
E.F.This allows them to keep a balance between work and family.
But often some kids have to spend some time without supervision.
A.B.C.D.E.F.15. 1 Sometimes you can find a job easily, by walking into a local store and looking at its notice board (布告栏). Local stores often have areas for people to put small signs telling the services that they need or they can provide. 2
Another popular tool for finding a job is the Internet. For example, people around the world can use the Craigslist Web site (网站) to buy things, meet people or find a job. 3 Another useful way to find a job is through a university. 4 Many college students like this way better.
At times, some experts (专业人士)can also help people find a job. Susan Miller has her own company called California Job Services in Los Angeles. She says her company helps people find a job by first helping them understand their strengths, goals and interests. 5 So with her help, many people have succeeded in finding a good job.
It is said that the site can receive two million new jobs each month.
Looking after children or cleaning houses can get well paid.
Such services include looking after children or cleaning houses.
For example, students at the University of Texas can go to the job center to get help.
Then she provides them with methods to help them find the right job.
People can find jobs in many ways.
16.How much physical activity do you do in a week? Are you getting enough exercise? 1 For example, people who exercise regularly are less likely to suffer from many diseases. Regular exercise reduces the risk of early death by 30%. It also improves your sleep quality.
Today, most adults are much less active than in the past because our jobs are far less physical than the work our grandparents used to do. 2 This lack of regular physical activity means people burn fewer calories than in the past, so we need to do something to consume our energy. Experts think adults need to do 2.5 hours of moderate exercise per week. 3
Exercise can be expensive, but it doesn't have to be, Team sports such as football can be cheap because all the players share the cost of the field. 4 It can also be very social.
If you don't want to spend any money, try one of the following activities. Go for a run. The only equipment you need is a pair of running shoes If you take the bus, try getting off one stop early and walking the extra distance. Go to the park. 5 You can play different kinds of games there. This is a great way to involve family members and friends.

Try getting a group of friends or family together.
This could be fast walking or cycling on a flat road
Regular activity benefits your health in many ways.
You should get more exercise and eat less to keep fit.
