Good morning, dear judges! I'm xxx, from xxx.It's my great honor to be here to share my teaching design with you. Today my topic is Unit 3 Sports and fitness, Living Legends. To make my presentation more clear, I will divide it into the following aspects: the analysis of teaching material, students, methods, teaching procedures, and blackboard design.
First, let me introduce the teaching material. This article is the reading part of Unit 3, Book 1. The topic of this passage is "Living Legends By reading the text, students can get information about Lang Ping and Michael Jordan, including their achievements and their attitudes towards difficulties. At the same time, students can explain the reasons why the author chooses them as legendary figures, so as to feel the spiritual power of athletes. By the end of the class, students can combine their own life experience and discuss the legendary people in their mind.
Based on the teaching material, I will set my teaching aims as follows: (l)The knowledge aims are to enable students to get basic information about Lang Ping and Jordan, and understand why they can be called sports legends.
(2)The ability aims are to develop students' reading skills of skimming and scanning, and find accurate information from the text.
(3)And the emotional aims are to make students feel the spirit of athletes and learn from them, while improving the awareness of inheriting the spirit of sports.
Besides, my teaching key point is to get students to know specific information about Lang Ping and Jordan, while the difficult point is to teach students to extract detailed information through scanning accurately in a short period of time.
Then let's move on to the second part, analysis of the students. Senior 1 students have already known something about sports and some of them are interested in it, but they are devoid of proficient reading skills and may know little about these legendary figures. So I will organize various activities to give them a platform in the classroom to use foreign language and improve themselves.
The next part is teaching methods. In this lesson, I will use Task-based Icmguage teaching method and Communicative language teaching method. Through this lesson, students will work in groups to finish several tasks and they can get comprehensive language using skills by autonomic learning, cooperating and exploring.
OK, then we will come to the most important part, the teaching procedures.
Lead-in is the first step of classroom teaching. And in this part, I will ask them two questions and show some pictures about famous sports players. Who are your fhvorife sports Dlayers? W/?y do you like these 女ood athletes? These two questions focus on the characters themselves and their common characteristics, which will lead to today class's topic.
After that, I will show students several meanings of the word “legend" and make them to guess the general idea of the passage according to the titles and pictures. And then, I will take them to review the new words we have learned last class.
Now, the third step is while-reading.
(l)Students will be given 3 minutes to read the passage quickly in the stage of global reading. And while reading, they need to finish these two tasks.
(2)Then we will come to the detailed reading part, in this part, students are going to read the two paragraphs separately and get detailed information about these two person:
I will also show them a chart to better sort out the information.
When reading paragraph 1, students will think about two questions about Lang Ping, which can be figured out through the following activities. They need to find the structure of this paragraph and then try to figure out some questions in pairs.
The same tasks will be done when reading the second paragraph. I will provide reference answers after selecting a few students to show their answers.
(3)In the end of the detailed reading part, I will let them complete the chart.
In post reading part, students will think and share.students will have 6
minutes to think of What can we learn form them?Then use the accumulated expressions to share their thoughts with their partner. After thinking,! will invite some students to share with the whole class.
The final part is homework. Students are going to finish the Exercise 5 in the page 39 of textbook and then write a short passage about their favorite legendary figures, which can help them consolidate what they have learned from this lesson.
Until now, my teaching procedure is finished.
As for my blackboard design, on the top of the blackboard is the title, in the center is a chart about the characters, achievements and influences of the two person.
In this lesson, I lead the students to understand the text step by step. In the whole period I just act as a director, giving the students some detailed tasks and letting the students explore the knowledge by themselves or in teamwork. But there are some new language points inthe passage need to be further explained in the next class.
