-The Lost Horizon by James Hilton “There was no boastfulness, no striving after effect, no concentrated attack upon the feelings of the beholder. These delicate perfections had an air of having fluttered into existence like petals from a flower.” -The Lost Horizon by James Hilton …and like those petals, the Chongqing Jin Yun Shan Resort flutters upon the clouds embracing the hills and mountains, offering a secluded retreat of peace and repose reminiscent of Shangri-la. Guests are welcomed by clusters of luxury villas set among the slender stalks of graceful bamboo forests with each villa occupying an existing structure’s footprint to minimize the impact on the local environment. The villas sprout from the mountain-side with strong foundations that seem to be carved out of the terrain and rise up into splayed stone walls and refined slabs pierced with view ports that hint at the veiled courtyards within. The pavilions then reach up toward the sky with light timber columns and trellises that bloom amid the mist. The surrounding verdant vegetation is maintained and celebrated by these perfectly proportioned villas that praise and honor the gracious beauty of the land. As guests continue to traverse the site along roads that follow the natural path of the land and echo the existing paths, they encounter poetic vistas of misty cloaked natural springs and serene ponds. Beyond this tranquility, the modest grandeur of the hotel is nestled in the deep, verdant pine forests and quiet clouds.

The 131,453m2 (approximately 13 hectares) site is located on top of Jin Yun Shan, approximately 45-minutes North of Chongqing. A fragrant mixture of pine and bamboo fill the site as does some scrubland and the vacant remains of a hotel and villas. The topography consists of three unique zones varying in elevation from 800 meters to 890 meters—the dense forest floor, the previously developed villa floor and the developed and modified hotel floor where the existing hotel structure still stands. Each zone is carefully considered to enhance its uniqueness and to maximize its development potential. The preliminary master plan intends to: • Take advantage of the site’s natural beauty and spectacular views • Provide a range of accommodations and real estate options that capitalize the growing demand for luxury travel and leisure activities and to attract a variety of high-end local and international buyers • Respect the natural landforms and existing landscape, carrying capacity and local architecture styles • Create an international quality resort experience with a timeless design that treasures the culture and heritage of the site • Develop a long term balance between built areas and permanent open space The development will be comprised of: • A 100-key 5-Star boutique hotel • 23 luxury villas comprised of three existing historic villas, one presidential villa and several one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom villas
