If you telephone him early in the day, while he is shaving or having breakfast, the time of the call shows that the matter is very important and requires immediate attention. The same meaning is attached to telephone calls made after 11:00 p. m. If someone receives a call during sleeping hours, he assumes it's a matter of life and death. The time chosen for the call communicates its importance. In social life, time plays a very important role. In the US guests tend to feel they are not highly regarded if the invitation (邀请) to a dinner party is extended only three or four days before the party date. But this is not true in all countries. In other areas of the world it may be considered foolish to make an appointment too far in advance because plans which are made for a date more than a week away tend to be forgotten. The meaning of time is different in different parts of the world. Thus, misunderstandings arise between people from cultures that treat time differently. To be on time is valued highly in American life, for example. If people are not on time, they may be regarded as not polite or not fully responsible. In the US no one would think of keeping a business associate waiting for an hour; it would be bad-mannered. A person who is five minutes late is expected to apologize. If he is less than five minutes late, he will say a few words of explanation, though perhaps he will not complete the sentence.6.If you telephone someone early in the day, it means___________________.A. you are expected to explain whyB. you are not kind enoughC. you want to show your concern for himD. you have a very important matter to discuss7.The expression "a matter of life and death" means__________________.A. an issue of the greatest importance and emergencyB. a very important appointmentC. a matter of whether someone should live or dieD. a strong desire to communicate8.In the US guests tend to feel they are not highly regarded_______________.A. if the invitation to a dinner party is not extended early enoughB. if the invitation to a dinner party is extended too far in advanceC. if the invitation to a dinner party is not extended repeatedlyD. if the invitation to a dinner party is extended to too many people 9. By the end of the 1970s, for example, considerably less than half of the women in the United States still believed that they would put their husbands and children ahead of their own careers.More and more American women have come to believe that they should be equal partners in their marriages. This stage of marriage, although still unusual in most American marriages at present, will grow most rapidly in the future. In an equal marriage, the wife gets a full-time job or career which has equal importance to her husband's. The long-standing division of labor between husband and wife comes to an end. The husband is no longer the main provider of family income, and the wife no longer has the main responsibilities for household duties and raising children. Husband and wife share all these duties equally. Power over family decisions is also shared equally. The rapid change in women's attitudes toward marriage in the 1970s reflected the rapid changes in the larger society. The Women's Liberation Movement appeared in the late 1960s, demanding an end to all forms of prejudice against females. An Equal Rights Amendment (修正案) to the US Constitution was proposed which would make any form of prejudice on the basis of sex illegal, and though it has failed to be confirmed, it continues tohave millions of supporters.1. 关于业余时间对孩子的重要性的英语作文

关于业余时间对孩子的重要性的英语作文

关于业余时间对孩子的重要性的英语作文全文共3篇示例,供读者参考篇1The Importance of Leisure Time for KidsAs a high school student juggling academics, extracurricular activities, and the pressures of teenage life, I can't stress enough how crucial leisure time is for our wellbeing and development. In today's fast-paced world, where we're constantly bombarded with assignments, deadlines, and expectations, it's easy to lose sight of the value of downtime. However, leisure time is not just a luxury; it's an essential component of a balanced, healthy lifestyle, especially for us kids. From my personal experience, I've come to realize that leisure time serves as a much-needed respite from the relentless demands of school and other commitments. After hours of intense studying or participating in after-school activities, having the opportunity to engage in hobbies, socialize with friends, or simply relax can significantly boost my mental and physical energy levels. It's like taking a deep breath of fresh air, allowingme to recharge and approach my responsibilities with renewed vigor and focus. One of the most significant benefits of leisure time is its positive impact on our mental health. The constant pressure to excel academically and meet societal expectations can take a toll on our emotional wellbeing. Leisure activities provide an outlet for stress relief, enabling us to escape the pressures of daily life and indulge in activities that bring us joy and fulfillment. Whether it's reading a captivating novel, practicing a sport, or pursuing a creative endeavor, these moments of enjoyment can help alleviate anxiety, boost our self-confidence, and promote a sense of overall contentment.Furthermore, leisure time plays a crucial role in our cognitive development. While structured learning environments are essential for acquiring knowledge and skills, leisure activities encourage creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking. When we engage in hobbies or recreational pursuits, we have the freedom to explore, experiment, and think outside the box. This fosters intellectual curiosity, enhances our ability to adapt to new situations, and cultivates a lifelong love for learning that extends beyond the classroom. One aspect of leisure time that often goes unnoticed is its contribution to our social development. Many leisure activities involve interacting with peers, whether it's playing team sports, participating in club activities, or simply hanging out with friends. These social interactions teach us valuable skills such as communication, cooperation, and conflict resolution, all of which are essential for building healthy relationships and navigating the complexities of life. Moreover, leisure time provides opportunities for personal growth and self-discovery. As we explore various interests and passions, we gain a better understanding of our strengths, weaknesses, and individual preferences. This self-awareness is crucial for developing a sense of identity and setting goals for the future. It also allows us to explore potential career paths and cultivate skills that may prove invaluable in our future endeavors.Despite the numerous benefits of leisure time, it's essential to strike a balance between structured activities and downtime. While leisure activities are invaluable, they should complement, rather than replace, our academic and extracurricular篇2The Importance of Free Time for KidsAs a student, my life is pretty hectic with school, homework, extracurricular activities, and the general stresses of growing up. However, I know that having time to simply be a kid and enjoy leisure activities is incredibly important for my development and wellbeing. Free time allows me to recharge, explore my interests, be creative, and just have fun - all crucial things for a healthy childhood. These days, it seems like kids are overscheduled and have barely any downtime. We're shuffled from school, to tutoring sessions, to sports practices, to music lessons, with our parents hoping that cramming in all these activities will help us get into a top college someday. While having a balanced schedule with some structured activities is good, having zero free time is incredibly stressful and robs us of important opportunities. One of the biggest reasons free time is so vital is that it allows us to just be kids and use our imaginations through unstructured play. When I'm not adhering to a rigid schedule, I can engage in the type of creative, open-ended play that kids have enjoyed for generations. I can build elaborate fortresses with pillows and blankets, act out fantasies with my toys and dolls, or come up with wacky games with neighborhood friends. This type of imaginative play is how we develop creativity,problem-solving abilities, and healthy social skills from a very young age.Having free times also enables me to explore new interests and hobbies at my own pace, without the pressure of structured lessons or activities. Maybe I'll pick up reading books about dinosaurs for fun and develop a passion for paleontology. Or I'll start tinkering with electronics and coding and realize I have a knack for engineering. Or I'll mess around with painting and drawing and discover an artistic talent I never knew I had. Exploring personal interests through leisure time allows me to find intrinsic motivations and discover my true calling in life. From a physical health standpoint, leisure time gives me opportunities to run around, be active, and get exercise outside of scheduled gym classes or sports teams. I can go ride my bike, roller-blade around the neighborhood, or simply play games like tag and hide-and-seek that get my heart pumping. Having big chunks of unstructured outdoor play is so important for kids' fitness levels and helps prevent childhood obesity and diabetes. It's also been shown to reduce behavioral issues, anxiety, and depression in kids by allowing them to release energy and endorphins. But free time isn't just important for kids' physical and creative development - it's also crucial for our mental health and emotional wellbeing. Having leisure time with no strict schedules gives me a break from the stresses of academic pressures, social dynamics, and the general turbulence of growing up. I can decompress and process my thoughts and emotions through relaxing activities like reading, listening to music, taking a walk, or just lounging around. This downtime reduces feelings of burnout, anxiety and allows me to better cope with the many challenges of childhood and adolescence.Being a kid today comes with so much pressure to check off endless boxes and live by the strict schedules set by adults. We're instructed on how to spend almost every waking minute between school, homework, lessons and organized activities. While these structured components of childhood have their places, it's also absolutely vital that kids today have adequate free time to just be kids. We need ample opportunities for unstructured play, exploring personal interests, getting physical activity, and most importantly, taking breaks from the intense pressures of modern childhood. Free time is what allows us to recharge, discover our passions, exercise our creativity, and develop into healthy, well-rounded individuals. Having pocketsof leisure time isn't a luxury - it's an essential component of a balanced, fulfilling childhood.篇3The Importance of Leisure Time for KidsAs a busy high school student juggling classes, extracurricular activities, household chores, and the ever-present demands of social media and technology, I can't stress enough how important leisure time is for kids like me. In our fast-paced, overscheduled lives, having unstructured free time to relax and recharge is absolutely vital for our overall well-being and development.Today's kids face immense pressure to excel academically, build an impressive resume for college applications, and stay constantly connected and productive. We are overwhelmed with obligations, leaving little room to just be kids. However, numerous studies have shown that leisure time allows children to reduce stress, explore their passions and creativity, and simply enjoy being young. For starters, having ample free time to relax is crucial for managing the stress and anxiety that comes with being an overscheduled kid. The hustle and pressure to perform can takea serious toll on our mental health. Leisure activities like reading for pleasure, playing outside, or just lounging around give our minds a much-needed break from the daily grind. When we're able to relax and unwind, our bodies release feel-good hormones like endorphins that boost our mood and emotional well-being.Moreover, leisure time fosters creativity, curiosity, and independent thinking – key elements for intellectual growth. With no structured agenda, we're free to explore our interests and passions at our own pace. An afternoon spent tinkering away building model rockets, getting lost in fictional worlds through novels, or composing lyrics allows our imaginations to run wild in a way that isn't possible during highly regimented school or extracurricular activities. This freedom to play, discover and create nurtures the critical thinking and problem-solving abilities that will serve us well in the future. From a social perspective, leisure time enables kids to develop vital interpersonal skills through unstructured play and socializing. Play dates at friends' houses, neighborhood games of pick-up basketball, or just hanging out allow us to communicate, cooperate, resolve conflicts and build lasting bonds in alow-pressure environment. These organic social interactions arekey for emotional intelligence and teaching kids how to navigate different social dynamics.Furthermore, leisure activities provide an outlet to develop interests and hobbies that could potentially turn into fruitful careers. That video game obsession as a kid could inspire a love of computer programming. The hours spent dribbling a basketball alone in the driveway could be the start of a professional athletic career. Having ample free time to freely explore different hobbies and interests allows us to discover our innate talents and true passions in life.Despite the endless benefits of leisure time, it's becoming an endangered concept in today's frenzy to overschedule kids. We're inundated from a young age with the notion that every waking moment must be devoted to building a resume for college through clubs, sports, volunteering, intensive academic courses and more. Parents williamingly enroll their kids in a dizzying array of extracurriculars, fearing they'll fall behind their peers in the hyper-competitive race for university admissions.Overscheduling is particularly pervasive in affluent communities, where parents have the resources to provide their kids with endless enrichment opportunities. The conventional wisdom seems to be that more is better – the more academictutors, music lessons, elite travel sports teams we can pack into a childhood, the better. But at what cost? Research indicates that over-scheduling can lead to increased childhood anxiety, depression, anger issues, headaches and stomachaches. Somewhere along the line, we've lost sight of the fact that being a kid should be fun and care-free, not a drawn-outresume-building exercise. As a teen, I've witnessed firsthand the unhealthy culture of overscheduling and its impact. I've seen friends succumb to crippling burnout, meltdowns and even alarming self-harm due to the immense pressure they face. I know teens who have been denied basic leisure time as a punishment for perceived underperformance. The messaging is clear – pursuing your interests and passions solely for enjoyment is frivolous; every activity must check a box for college admissions. Is this really the message we want to impart on the next generation about the value of leisure and play?Of course, I'm not advocating that we should completely abandon organized activities and slip into an endless cycle of laziness. Extracurriculars, when pursued in moderation, provide wonderful learning experiences, leadership growth, and productive use of time. Rather, I believe we need to strike ahealthier balance that leaves ample room for unstructured leisure. A life of all work and no play is detrimental not just for kids, but for people of all ages.As a society, we need a philosophical shift in how we view leisure time – not as a luxury or waste, but as an indispensable component of human development and well-being. Childhood should be a precious time to explore one's interests, recharge, and learn simply through the act of play, before inevitable adult responsibilities take over. Promoting leisure time isn't promoting laziness, it's promoting balance, creativity and joy in children's lives. For kids' sake, let's stop the overscheduling madness. Resist the urge to overfill our schedules at the expense of free time. Encourage us to pick up hobbies purely for fun and personal growth, not just resume-builders. Build leisure time into our routines as sacred time for relaxation and following our curiosities. Reimagine childhood not as a resume-crafting boot camp, but as a carefree time for discovering our passions, recharging our batteries, and just being kids. Our overstressed, overworked selves will be forever grateful for it.。

利用好课余时间的重要性英语作文

利用好课余时间的重要性英语作文The Importance of Making Good Use of Free TimeHi there! My name is Sophie, and I'm a 10-year-old student in the 5th grade. Today, I want to talk to you about something that's really important for kids like us – making good use of our free time. You might be thinking, "Free time? What's that?" Well, it's the time we have when we're not in school or doing our homework. It's the time we can choose to do whatever we want, and that's why it's so precious! Now, I know some of you might be tempted to just spend all your free time playing video games, watching TV, or scrolling through social media. And while those things can be fun in moderation, if we spend too much time on them, we're missing out on so many other amazing opportunities. You see, free time is like a blank canvas, and we get to be the artists who decide what masterpiece we want to create. We can use our free time to explore new hobbies, learn new skills, or even just spend quality time with our families and friends. One of my favorite things to do in my free time is reading. I love getting lost in the pages of a good book and letting myimagination run wild. Reading has taught me so much about the world, and it's also helped me improve my vocabulary and writing skills. But reading isn't the only thing I enjoy doing. I also love trying out new recipes in the kitchen. Cooking is like a fun science experiment, where you get to mix different ingredients together and see what delicious creations you can come up with. Plus, it's a great way to bond with my family and learn about different cultures through their cuisines.Another passion of mine is art. I love to paint, draw, and create all sorts of crafty things. Art allows me to express myself in a unique way and let my creativity shine. It's also a great stress-reliever after a long day at school.Of course, physical activity is important too, and that's why I try to spend some of my free time playing sports or going for bike rides or hikes with my friends and family. Not only is it good for my health, but it's also a lot of fun and a great way to make new friends. And let's not forget about giving back to our community. In my free time, I sometimes volunteer at a local animal shelter or help out with neighborhood clean-up events. It's so rewarding touse my free time to make a positive difference in the world around me.The possibilities for how to spend our free time are endless, and that's what makes it so exciting! We can try out new things, explore our interests, and discover talents we never knew we had.But it's important to remember that free time is also a time for rest and relaxation. It's okay to spend some of our free time just hanging out with friends, watching a movie, or taking a nap. We all need to recharge our batteries sometimes. The key is to find a balance and use our free time in a way that enriches our lives and helps us grow as individuals. We shouldn't waste it mindlessly scrolling through social media or playing video games for hours on end.So, my friends, I challenge you to make the most of your free time. Try out new hobbies, learn new skills, spend time with loved ones, and don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Our free time is a precious gift, and it's up to us to make the most of it.Who knows? You might discover a hidden talent or passion that shapes the rest of your life. Or you might just have a lot offun and create some amazing memories along the way. Either way, it's a win-win!So, let's get out there and make the most of our free time. The world is full of endless possibilities, and it's up to us to explore them. Happy adventuring!。

The time of the day when something is done can give a special meaning to the event. In the United States, it is unusualto telephone someone very early in the morning. If you telephone him early in the day, while he is having breakfast, the time of the call shows that the matter is very important and requires attention at once. The same meaning is given to telephone calls made after 11:00 p.m. If someone receives a call during sleeping hours, he may think it is a matter of life or death. The time chosen for the call communicates its importance. In daily life, time plays a very important part. In the United States, guests will feel they are less important if the invitation to a dinner party is received only three or four days before the party date. But this is not true in all countries. In other areas of the world, it may be considered foolish to make an invitation too far ahead because plans which are made for a date more than a week away are likely to be forgotten. The meaning of time varies in different parts of the world. In the western world, especially in the United States, people think of time as something fixed in nature, something from which one cannot get away. As a result, Americans think of time as a road into the future, along which one progresses. Those who can plan their time well are more likely to achieve success.Since time has such different meanings in different cultures, communication is often difficult. Free time plays a very important role in people's lives. But people are having differing opinions about which the better way of spending it is to play ball games or dancing with your friends or watch TV at home? As far as I am concerned, I would like to spend my leisure time outside.
Firstly, outdoor activities improve physical health.
A healthy body is very important it is the foundation of conducting other works. Without a healthy body students can not study well, a worker can not finish his job well. And by going outdoors, I can have fresh air. There is nothing more refreshing and energizing than a walk in the morning. In contrast, indoor activities involve less physical exercise and are relatively sedentary few hours’work before a computer causes pains in the neck and back. As a result, it is more likely for me to develop various diseases.
Secondly, outdoor activities offer better opportunities to meet acquaintance of kids from different neighborhoods. By playing football together I can make a lot of new friends with different background. In contrast, by indoor activities, for instance, throwing a part or inviting friends for a cup of tea, I can only meet friends from a relatively limited circle.
Admittedly, outdoor activities do have some downsides. For instance, they can be dangerous. It is not unheard of that hikers get lost in the wildness or suffer from fatal
accidents. However, these problems all can be solved by some effective measures. For example, getting fully prepared before going out such as asking for some professional advises.
In conclusion, outdoor activities are good for health, more exciting and beneficial for personal relationships. In contrast, indoor activities are relatively sedentary and predicable. Although outdoor activities might have some drawbacks, after balancing all the pros and cons, they are my preferable choice when it comes to spending free time.。
