Grundig Digta SonicMic II
1. Insert the DigtaSoft Pro CD. If the installation doesn't automatically launch, browse the CD and
double-click Setup .
2. Simply follow the prompts for network or local installation. Most installations will be local (as in local
computer or workstation). Note that you may need to reboot your computer after the installation.
3. Plug the Digta SonicMic II into any available USB port on a notebook computer. If this is a desktop
computer, use a rear USB port (preferably one of the 2 ports that are closest to the Ethernet jack). NEVER use a USB hub or front or side USB port on a desktop computer.
4. Run the Audio Setup Wizard via the following:
Running the NaturallySpeaking Audio Setup Wizard
1. Begin by opening Dragon/ Tools/Accuracy Center and clicking on Check your audio settings
2. Select the Digta SonicMic II US sound source under Choose your sound system and click Next
3.Click Next
4.Click Start Volume Check, read until the text turns gray and then click Next
5.Click Start Quality Check, read until the text turns gray and then click Next
6.Click Begin dictating followed by pressing Finish
Programming the Digta SonicMic II buttons
1. Begin by clicking the Windows Start button, All Programs/Grundig Business Systems
GmbH/AdapterServerConfig to launch the application. You might want to additionally drop a shortcut to this application in your Windows Startup folder so that the application is always ready.
2.Even though you have launched the Grundig program, you won't be able to view it because the
application is minimized in Windows taskbar. You may need to click on the little "show hidden icons" triangle in your taskbar. Bringing up the AdapterServerConfig is not as straightforward as you might expect. Begin by right clicking on the AdapterServerConfig application in the taskbar (note the icon we have circled in red) and select Properties. Do not click on About
AdapterServerConfig because as silly as it sounds, it does not launch the application.
3.You should see the following:
4.The USB (HID) is the default setting which refers to your unit. This doesn't need to be changed but
to the right you will see options for changing the double-click and long click times. Note the Button event selection where we have circled Click action and Action settings. These are the single click button controls (single push of the button). To the right of these options you will see a section where you can program a double-click action and a long click action so you can program up to 3 events for each button. For the moment, we will keep this simple by focusing on programming the Insert button which is the upper right button on your microphone (includes a little orange dot in the middle), with a single click event.
5.Position your mouse to the immediate right of the INSERT menu (referring to the insert button) and
Left Click under the Click action caption. You should see the following drop-down menu which probably won't make much sense until you Left Click:
6.You'll see a number of options but for the purposes of NaturallySpeaking, you will only be
concerned with 2 options which are Hotkey and Dragon Speech Recognition. Example #1 will explain how to program one of the built-in Dragon Speech Recognition commands and example #2 will explain how to program a Hotkey:
Example #1:
(a) Mouse Left Click on Click action and choose Dragon Speech Recognition (previous picture)
(b) Mouse Left Click on Action Settings and choose Microphone sleep/on (next picture)
Example #2:
(a) Mouse Left Click on Click action and choose Hotkey (next picture)
(b) Mouse Left Click on Action Settings. You will see the following:
(c) Press and hold down the {Ctrl} Key. While holding down the {Ctrl} Key, press and hold down the
{Shift} Key and while holding down these 2 keys, press the letter D to create Ctrl + Shift + D which is the NaturallySpeaking default hotkey for launching the Dictation Box. You could optionally program this command as explained in Example #1 but with hotkeys, you have additional options that aren't necessarily included in NaturallySpeaking. Note that if you wish to change your hotkey choice back to None, press the {Del} Key.
7.Follow the previously outlined procedures for programming the Double-Click action and the Long
Click action keys.
8.You can eliminate manually launching the AdapterServerConfig utility by right clicking on the
AdapterServerConfig utility, in the taskbar, and selecting Start AdapterServerConfig at Login.
