•Setup the application communication parameters
•Outline the CBF application framework
•Point out the application file and folder structure

3.2 Setting up the Controller IP Address
The Freelance 800F system uses standard Ethernet and TCP/IP protocol to
communicate between its’ nodes, therefore the first step is to setup the IP addresses of
the AC 800F controllers and the PCs.
The setting of IP address of PCs is well known, we concentrate on setting IP address
for the AC 800F controller.
3.2.1 Two Different Methods of Setting the IP Address
For Freelance 800F system, there are two different methods of setting the IP address:
1.Standard setting where all IP addresses are set with the same format :-
172.16.1.X (here X stands for the last number of IP address)
and the subnet mask is set to
255.255.240.0
2.Non- Standard setting which allows you to setup any IP address and subnet mask
for Freelance 800F system nodes.
3.2.2 Setting the AC 800F Controller IP with Hardware Switch
For the standard setting method, a hardware switch is used (shown in the picture
below). To set the least significant number of the IP address, position 1-F is used. If a
redundant controller is used, position F must be selected on the redundant Ethernet
board. Position 0 on the main Ethernet board is used for non-standard setting.
3.2.3 Setting AC 800F Controller IP Address through Diagnostic Port
For the non-standard settings, the RS232 diagnostic port (on the controller’s power
supply module) is used to set up the controller IP address.
3.2.3.1 Setting Up the Link
Connect the diagnostic cable TK801 to the serial port of the workstation to the
diagnostic port of the power supply module.
Open a HyperTerminal Link, and select COM1 as the communications medium. To
get the correct settings press the “Restore Defaults” button on the properties window.
The settings should be as follows.
Set the Port settings as follows.
Bits per second 9600
Data Bits 8
Parity None
Stop Bits 1
Flow control None
3.2.3.2 Communicating via the Link
On the AC 800F, set the “Run/Stop” switch to stop.
The “Run/Stop” LED will turn red.
Press the “Reset” pushbutton for approximately 5s. The fault LED will light.
Release the “Reset” pushbutton and the results of the self-test will output to the
HyperTerminal window.
Look carefully for a message requesting the engineer to press the “space bar”within
2s in order to interrupt the booting procedure. The user could change this setting later.
Press the “space bar”to allow changes to be made.
To make changes enter “C” followed by “Enter”. This will enable the parameters to be
scrolled through and changed where necessary.
Each time the “Enter” key is pressed, the controller scrolls on to the next parameter.
To change the IP address for example, input a new one and press “Enter” key.
On completion enter “S” to save the changes and then “B” to continue booting.
Place the “Run/Stop”switch back to “Run”.
3.3 CBF Software Installation
Before installation, you need to read the actual release notes, and install the hardware
license key (dongle) on the PC.
For a new installation of CBF, please follow the procedure starting from 3.3.1.
For an upgrade installation, you need to do the following step before starting from
3.3.1.
•Make a parameter upload of the process stations
•Export old projects
•Uninstall existing Freelance 800F software
•Reboot your PC
3.3.1 Run Autoplay.exe from the Installation CD
3.3.2 Select Freelance 800F Software
3.3.3 Hints Before Starting Installation
NOTE!Ensure before you start a software upgrade, that your
existing project files are exported in the .csv format.
The Export handling is described in chapter 19.
3.3.4 License Agreement
3.3.5 Selecting Software Components
If software components are to be installed later, then the procedure is similar to the
basic installation.
The installation window displays whether a package is already installed or not. 3.3.6 Installation in progress
3.3.7 Setup Complete Message
3.3.8 Subdirectory Import
In case of a Freelance 800F software upgrade, it is possible to import the subfolders
from the previous Freelance 800F version to the new installation path.
3.3.9 Exit Setup
3.4 Setting via System Configure Menu
During the installation, you will be asked to do some system settings like time
synchronization or Resource-ID, but you can also do the settings or change the
settings after installation via a configure menu.
3.4.1 Starting the System Configure Menu
3.4.2 Time Synchronization and IP Address
During the installation you will be asked for the IP address and Subnet mask for the
CBF application. You can take these specifications from the network properties. Here
you have also to decide whether your PC is to be time-synchronized by the AC 800F
controller or not.
The assignment of the Resource-ID corresponds to the unique addressability of your
CBF software on the PC.
Several applications, such as CBF, OPC, and DigiVis can be installed on the same PC.
The unique assignment of the addressing consists of the IP address and the Resource-
ID. The IP address is like a house number of the PC and the Resource-IDs are
corresponding to the names of the house inhabitants.
3.4.3 Authorization Key Installation
The Freelance 800F system licensing method requires you to install a hardware key
(dongle) and import a software file to the same PC, when they match, the license will
work. You use the authorization key installation to browse and install the software file.
3.4.4 Upgrading the Controller Boot Loader
It is very important to have all the controllers’ Boot EPROM contents of a project
upgraded, especially when we replace a broken controller with a new one. We do this
through the Ethernet connection.
Select Boot “EPROM Download” and enter the IP address in the “Host name 1” box.
Input 2 is only used for redundant controllers.
Left click on “Download” and the “Download Information” window will first display
Connecting followed by Loading.
NOTE!During loading it essential that the power is not removed.
On completion the controller will auto restart. However it will require a full download.
3.4.5 Language Settings
You can install CBF software in several languages on the same PC. For having loaded
the dimension and message texts in the correct language, please select the
corresponding language. Text files can also be imported subsequently and be made
available by selection for the CBF software.
3.4.6 DigiVis Settings
In one Freelance 800F project, each running application (DigiVis or CBF) needs to be
assigned a unique Resource-ID. The DigiVis Resource-ID is assigned here.
It is possible to set auto start of DigiVis here.
It is recommended to select “No, start DigiVis manually”
3.4.7 Changing Installation Settings
At any time it is possible to make modifications to the installation. For this however,
the application has to be closed, and after modification, opened again.
This is necessary if your CBF PC is used in different projects and you must adapt the
IP address to the local specifications.
