2009年6月英语四级试题参考答案及听力原文Part I Writing作文范文:Free Admission to MuseumsNowadays, an increasing number of museums are admission-free to visitors home and abroad. The hidden reason behind this is not hard to analyze as there’s a growing awareness for the aut horities regarding the urgency of popularization of culture, knowledge and history with every average person in our society. Only with free access to this live ‘database’, can most people fully enjoy what museums could offer to them. However, free admission to museums might lead to some social problems as well. The most obvious problem is that it might give museums a very heavy economic burden which directly impedes the sustainable development of these organizations. As a result, our government has to work out other ways to collect funds from different channels, which might be difficult to operate or control. On the other hand, free admission attracts too many visitors, some of which might not be well-purposed and do some conscious or unconscious damage to the valuable treasures which used to be well-preserved in the museums. As a university student, I am in favor of the free-admission conduct. Yet it is proposed that some measures should be taken to solve the potential problems caused by it. For example, museums can make some regulations to guide the behavior of visitors or set some ‘closed’ days for museums for regular maintenance. Only in this way can free-admission to museums become a long-lasting phenomenon and have sustainable development.Part II Reading Comprehension (Skimming and Scanning)1. A. Obviously, a growing number of people are beginning to realize that it is our duty to do that in the present days, since the concept of “a green world” has become the focus of the society. The idea of “a green campus” is beyond a green environment. To begin with, the development on the campus is to be sustainable and recyclable. Some of the authorities' budget should be on how to reduce of the waste. What's more, we'd better be aware of the seriousness of pollution aroundus. Thus the idea of environmental protection may become a common occurrence in our daily life.It is necessary that effective actions should be taken to protect our campus from waste and pollution, and hence these activities are to play an increasingly important role in our day-to-day life. Certainly, there is little doubt that further consideration must be paid to our green campuses.范文(二)In recent years, extravagance and waste have become increasingly serious in some of the university campus. We can see that papers, bottles and cans are thrown away after use; food is wasted just because of its poor taste; clothes are discarded simply owing to their old fashion. As a consequence, people in mounting numbers put great emphasis on creating a green campus. There are at least two criteria to distinguish what is green campus. On the one hand, natural resources must be conserved and made full use of, for example, we, as college students, should take the wise use of papers and second-hand textbooks into account. On the other hand, education to build up thrift habits must be promoted by relevant departments and professionals at various levels.Accordingly, it is necessary for us to take effective steps. For one thing, university authorities should respond with the demand for more rigid conservation of our natural resources, such as water, electricity, and so on. For another, we should enhance the awareness of college students that creating a green campus is of utmost significance to both our society and ourselves.范文:I am the part of the Green CampusThe Olympic Games was hold in our country last year. “Green and Environment-protecting ” is one of the Three Themes of it. Our government has made a great effort in order to protect the environment, build more green project to keep the ecological balance, push the recycling economy, and protects the water resource. As a university student, we should play an active role in the actions aimed at the realization of green and environment-protecting home and. We will start it from ourselves, our classmates, our friends and other people around us. We can stop cars running through our campus streets. And in the bathrooms, we will never leave the water running on after using. We will never throw things everywhere without thinking, They are wrong. These things are taking place everyday everywhere in our school. So, let's begin to act! Don't talk loudly in public places. Turn off the water tap after using it. After washing the clothes, use it to flash the toilet.Go to school by bike or by bus instead of by private car. Save your pocket money and contribute to environmental protection organizations. Collect waste paper or bottles for recycling. Plant more trees and flowers. We can start from every little thing around us to truly realize the green campus. Publicize the theme of green and environment-protecting, and let us really reach the “Green and Environment-protecting” goal in our generation. This is the responsibility of everyone who loves life and peace.2010年6月大学英语四级Due Attention Should Be Given to Spelling如今不少学生在英语学习中不重视拼写出现这种情况的原因这种现象导致的结果[范文]Due Attention Should Be Given To SpellingNowadays, students attach less importance to the spelling of words in the process of English study. This phenomenon greatly influences s tudents’ writing and brings on worries among teachers. There are possibly three reasons contributing to this phenomenon. First, exam-oriented education makes the students pay less attention to spelling. Second, some teachers should also be responsible for it because they don’t emphasize the importance of spelling during teaching. Last but not least, some students are too lazy to recite words.Since spelling is one of the most important factors in English study, due attention should be given to it. As for me, I think, first, exams should be modified to add some factors into it, which would help students pay more attention to spelling. Then, schools should also set effective mechanisms to help teachers as well as the students to realize the importance. Finally, for students themselves, they can, through other ways, make them be interested in word spelling. Only by these can we surly realize the importance of spelling and make improvement.2010年12月大学英语四级作文:Directions:For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a short essay entitled How Should Parents Help Children to Be Independent? Most of parents Love and care for children so much that children has less chances to deal with problems by themselves. Consequently, children get used to depending on their parents in everything and lack of ability to solve problems independently, which is bad for their growing. There are some effective ways for parents to help their children beindependent. To start with, parents should give their children more chances to experience the world and life around them. Thus their children can enhance the capability to overcome the difficulties and handle problems independently. In addition, parents should offer enough assistance when their children need some instructions and advices. In this way, they depend on their parents in a right way and can solve problems independently when they face the same one next time. Last but not least, parents should allow their children to make decisions independently. Children would improve the ability to deal with the problems they are confronted with in their life. From the above discussion, I strongly believe that parent should help their children be independent by instructing them in a proper way rather than planning and considering everything for them. It’s children who decide their future and fate, so it would be beneficial for them to live independently with some proper instructions of their parents2011年6月大学英语四级Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a short essay on the topic of Online Shopping. You should write at least 120 words following the outline given below:1. 现在网上购物已成为一种时尚2. 网上购物有很多好处,但也有不少问题3. 我的建议[范文]Online ShoppingOnline shopping, as an act of buying products and services over the Internet, is growing in popularity ever, which has been significantly shocking our lifestyles. Many individuals favor this kind of shopping because of its ease. But like any other newborn device, people may unconsciously expose themselves to the threat from it by incaution. For those who work for lengthy hours, the internet offers them much convenience. First of all, they do not have time to visit the store during regular trading hours, while online retailers allows orders twenty-four hours a day. As well, online shopping gives the customers the facility to compare prices and features of the products thanks to the detailed product description. In most occasions, the items are cheaper than online than in the conventional stores, making it an appeal to most people. While there are numerous advantages of online shopping, there are also threats and fears regarding this way of shopping. Information security is the key concern. Online payment may not be so secure because of identity theft. Another problem of online shopping is encountering misleading and false product information. In my viewpoint, online shopping is a double-edged sword. Buying on reputed online stores is a good solution to ensure the pleasure and comfort of the internet shopping.2011年12月大学英语四级For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a short essay entitled Nothing Succeeds Without a Strong Will by commenting on the humorous saying, "Quitting smoking is the easiest thing in the world. 恩波版:Free admission to museums?Nowadays, a lot of museums open to the public for free, and a lot of people are attracted to go there, however, it also brought some unexpected problems. At present, people can get knowledge from many ways like libraries, internet, and other sources. However, there is also much information that people cannot get from the above ways. Free admission museums supply more chances for the public to get knowledge that cannot be easily accessed. People can learn more things about history. Art. Science and so on. Although, this kind of policy brought much convenience to the public . it also caused some problems. For example. Beggars and shabby-dressed people may enter the museums and cause bad reputation among the public, along with the increasing number of people getting into museums. There will be no enough service establishments to meet the requirements. Besides, under the policy of free admission. The cultural relics displayed there may be inevitably broken or damaged by the crowds. Moreover, the crowds in the museums may also cause security problems. In my opinion, free admission is a good policy for the public, and it brings the public much convenience. But, we should also take possible measures to protect the cultural relics and maintain the order of spot. Besides, we can also take the policy of giving free admission first to children. Then to the retired person, and last to the public, I think, this may help to solve the problems.昂立版范文一:Nowadays, an increasing number of museums are open to the public with free admission. The reason for it lies in the fact that the government has been attaching great importance to provide more opportunities for citizens to explore and get access to the knowledge world。

She was puzzled and somewhat disappointed because she liked the individual otherwise. He had a perfect resume and gave good responses to her questions, but the fact that he never looked her in the eye said “untrustworthy,” so she decided to offer the job to her second choice.“It wasn’t until I attended a diversity workshop that I realized the person we passed over was the perfect person,” Tiffany confesses. What she hadn’t known at the time of the interview was that the candidate’s “different”behavior was simply a cultural misunderstanding . He was an Asian-American raised in a household where respect for those in authority was shown by averting(避开) your eyes.“I was just thrown off by the lack of ye contact; not realizing it was cultural,” Tiffanysays. “I missed out ,but will not miss that opportunity again.”Many of us have had similar encounters with behaviors we perceive as different. As the world becomes smaller and our workplaces more diverse, it is becoming essential to expand our under-standing of others and to reexamine some of our false assumptions .Hire AdvantageAt a time when hiring qualified people is becoming more difficult ,employers who can eliminate invalid biases(偏爱) from the process have a distinct advantage .My company, Mindsets LLC ,helps organizations and individuals see their own blind spots . A real estate recruiter we worked with illustrates the positive difference such training can make .“During my Mindsets coaching session ,I was taught how to recruit a diversified workforce. I recruited people from different cultures and skill sets .The agents were able to utilize their full potential and experiences to build up the company .When the real estate market began to change, it was because we had a diverse agent pool that we were able to stay in the real estate market much longer than others in the same profession.”Blinded by GenderDale is an account executive who attended one of my workshops on supervising a diverse workforce . “Through one of the sessions ,I discovered my personal bias ,” he recalls . “I learned I had not been looking at a person as a whole person , and being open to differences .” In his case , the blindness was not about culture but rather gender .“I had a management position open in my department ;and the two finalists were a man and a woman . Had I not attended this workshop , I would have automatically assumed the man was the best candidate because the position required quite a bit of extensive travel . My reasoning would have been that even though both candidates were great and could have been successful in the position , I assumed the woman would have wanted to be home with her children and not travel .”Dale’s assumptions are another example of the well-intentioned but incorrect thinking that limits an organization’s ability to tap into the full potential of a diverse workforce .“I learned from the class that instead of imposing my gender biases into the situation , I needed to present the full range of duties, responsibilities and expectations to all candidates and allow them to make an informed decision .”Dale credits the workshop , “because it helped me make decisions based on fairness .”Year of the Know-It-AllDoug is another supervisor who attended one of my workshops .He recalls a major lesson learned from his own employee.“One of my most embarrassing moments was when I had a Chinese-American employee put in a request to take time off to celebrate Chinese New Year . In my ignorance , I assumed he had his dates wrong , as the first of January had just passed . When I advised him of this , I gave him a long talking-to about turning in requests early with the proper dates .“He patiently waited , then when I was done , he said he would like Chinese New Year did not begin January first , and that Chinese New Year ,which is tied to the lunar cycle ,is one of the most celebrated holidays on the Chinese calendar . Needless to say , I felt veryembarrassed in assuming he had his dates mixed up . But I learned a great deal about assumptions , and that the timing of holidays varies considerably from culture to culture .“Attending the diversity workshop helped me realize how much I could learn by simply asking questions and creating dialogues with my employees , rather than making assumptions and trying to be a know-it-all ,”Doug admits . “The biggest thing I took away from the workshop is learning how to be more ‘inclusive’ to differences.”A better Bottom LineAn open mind about diversity not only improves organizations internally , it is profitable as well . These comments from a customer service representative show how an inclusive attitude can improve sales .”Most of my customers speak English as a second language . One of the best things my company has done is to contract with a language service that offers translations over the phone . It wasn’t until my boss received Mindsets’ training that she was able to understand how important inclusiveness was to customer service . As result , our customer base has increased .”Once we start to see people as individuals . and discard the stereotypes , we can move positively toward inclusiveness for everyone . Diversity is about coming together and taking advantage of our differences and similarities . It is about building better communities and organizations that enhance us as individuals and reinforce our shared humanity .When we begin to question our assumptions and challenge what we think we have learned from our past , from the media, peers , family , friends , etc , we begin to realize that some of our conclusions are flawed(有缺陷的) or contrary to our fundamental values . We need to train our-selves to think differently , shift our mindsets and realize that diversity opens doors for all of us ,creating opportunities in organizations and communities that benefit everyone .1.What bothered Tiffany during an interview with her candidate?A)He just wouldn’t look her in the eye.B)He was slow in answering her questions.C)His answers to some of her questions were irrelevant.D)His answers to some of her questions were irrelevant .2. Organized by the New York-based nonprofit Earth Pledge, the show inspired many top designers to work with sustainable fabrics for the first time. Several have since made pledges to include organic fabrics in their lines. The designers who undertake green fashion still face many challenges. Scott Hahn, cofounder with Gregory of Rogan and Loomstate, which uses all-organic cotton, says high-quality sustainable materials can still be tough to fine . “Most designers with existing labels are finding there aren’t comparable fabrics that can just replace what you’re doing and shat your customers are used to,” he says. For example, organic cotton and non-organic cotton are virtually indistinguishable once woven into a dress. But some popular synthetics, like stretch nylon, still have few eco-friendly equivalents. Those who do make the switch are finding they have more support. Last year the influential trade show Designers & Agents stopped charging its participation fee for young green entrepreneurs(企业家) who attend its two springtime shows in Los Angeles and New York and gave special recognition to designers whose collections are at least 25% sustainable . It now counts more than 50 green designers, up from fewer than a dozen two years ago. This week Wal-Mart is set to announce a major initiative aimed at helping cotton farmers go organic: it will buy transitional(过渡型的) cotton at higher prices , thus helping to expand the supply of a key sustainable material . “Mainstream is about to occur,” says Hahn. Some analysts(分析师) are less sure . Among consumers, only 18%are even aware that ecofashion exists, up from 6% four years ago. Natalie Hormilla, a fashion writer, is an example of the unconverted consumer, when asked if she owned any sustainable clothes, she replied: “Not that I’m aware of.” Like most consumers, she finds little time to shop, and when she does, she’s on the hunt for “cute stuff that isn’t too expensiv e.” By her own admission, green just isn’t yet on her mind. But –thanks to the combined efforts of designers, retailers and suppliers –one day it will be.57. What is said about FutureFashion?A) It inspired many leading designers to start going green.B) It showed that designers using organic fabrics would go far.C) It served as an example of how fashion shows should be organized.D) It convinced the public that fashionable clothes should be made durable.58. According to Scott Hahn, one big challenge to designers who will go organic isthat .A) much more time is needed to finish a dress using sustainable materials .B) they have to create new brands for clothes made of organic materials .C) customers have difficulty telling organic from non-organic materials .D) quality organic replacements for synthetics are not readily available .59. We learn from Paragraph 3 that designers who undertake green fashion .A) can attend various trade shows free .B) are readily recognized by the fashion worldC) can buy organic cotton at favorable prices .D) are gaining more and more support .60. What is Natalie Hormilla’s attitude toward ecofashion?A) She doesn’t seem to care about it. C) She is doubtful of its practical value.B) She doesn’t think it is sustainable D) She is very much opposed to the idea61. What does the author think of green fashion?A) Green products will soon go mainstream.B) It has a very promising future.C) Consumers have the final say.D) It will appeal more to young people.Passage TwoQuestions 62 to 66 are based on the following passage.Scientists have devised a way to determine roughly where a person has lived using a strand(缕) of hair , a technique that could help track the movements of criminal suspects or unidentified murder victims .The method relies on measuring how chemical variations in drinking water show up in people’s hair.“You’re what you eat and drink, and that’s recorded in you hair,” said Thure Cerling, a geologist at the University of Utah. While U.S diet is relatively identical, water supplies vary. The differences result from weather patterns. The chemical composition of rainfall changes slightly as raid clouds move. Most hydrogen and oxygen atoms in water are stable , but traces of both elements are also present as heavier isotopes (同位素) . The heaviest raid falls first .As a result, storms that form over the Pacific deliver heavier water to California than to Utah.Similar patterns exist throughout the U.S. By measuring the proportion of heavier hydrogen and oxygen isotopes along a strand of hair, scientists can construct a geographic timeline. Each inch of hair corresponds to about two months.Cerling’s team collected tap water samples from 600 cities and constructed a mop of the regional differences. They checked the accuracy of the map by testing 200 hair samples collected from 65 barber shops. They were able to accurately place the hair samples in broad regions roughly corresponding to the movement of raid systems.“It’s not good for pinpointing (精确定位),”Cerling said . “It’s good for eliminating many possibilities.”Todd Park, a local detective, said the method has helped him learn more about an unidentified woman whose skeleton was found near Great Salt Lake. The woman was 5 feet tall. Police recovered 26 bones, a T-shirt and several strands of hair. When Park heard about the research, he gave the hair samples to the researchers. Chemical testing showed that over the two years before her death, she moved about every two months. She stayed in the Northwest, although the test could not be more specific than somewhere between eastern Oregon and western Wyoming.“It’s still a substantial area,” Park said “But it narrows it way down for me.”62. What is the scientists’ new discovery?A) One’s hair growth has to do with the amount of water they drink.B) A person’s hair may reveal where they have lived.C) Hair analysis accurately identifies criminal suspects.D) The chemical composition of hair varies from person to person.63. What does the author mean by “You’re what you eat and drink” (Line 1, Para.3)?A) Food and drink affect one’s personality development.B) Food and drink preferences vary with individuals.C) Food and drink leave traces in one’s body tissues.D) Food and drink are indispensable to one’s existence.64. What is said about the rainfall in America’s West?A) There is much more rainfall in California than in Utah.B) The water it delivers becomes lighter when it moves inland.C) Its chemical composition is less stable than in other areas.D) It gathers more light isotopes as it moves eastward.65. What did Cerling’s team produce in their research?A) A map showing the regional differences of tap water.B) A collection of hair samples from various barber shops.C) A method to measure the amount of water in human hair.D) A chart illustrating the movement of the rain system.66. What is the practical value of Cerling’s research?A) It helps analyze the quality of water in different regions.B) It helps the police determine where a crime is committed.C) It helps the police narrow down possibilities in detective work.D) It helps identify the drinking habits of the person under investigation.Part V Cloze (15 minutes)Part VI Translation (5 minutes) Kimiyuki Suda should be a perfect customer for Japan ’s car-makers. 09年6月Free Admission to MuseumsRecently, free admissions to museums have aroused extensive public attention as well as hot debates and there are quite a lot of people against this idea. Personally speaking, I firmly believe that it is still not the right time for our country to offer free admissions to museums.Firstly, with such a big population we Chinese are sharing relatively limited resources, museums included. Obviously, free admissions will put even greater pressure on that, which will possibly lead to dilemma: either set extra restriction to visits, which goes opposite to admissions free of charge, or severely shorten the life length of the museum resources because of the visit boom.Secondly, despite the state aid from our government as compensation for the loss of ticket income, almost all the museums are still facing huge financing gap in operation and reservation. Meanwhile, the visit boom has posed a real challenge in managing level.Last but not least, the majority of our population has not formed cultural habit of paying regular visits to museums. The boom mostly reflects many people's enthusiasm on the free admissions but the museums themselves. We've still got a long way to go before we could enlighten proper public awareness of our museum resources. In summary, we may follow the western pattern of free admission, which allows part of the population such as children or the elderly to enjoy the preferential treatment as a slow release of our boom pressure; we may also turn to commonweal organizations and the public for help on the financial challenge besides the government support. We could at the mean time develop diverse function of our museums and further the ethnical education of our population as indirect protection for our invaluable museums resources. But before we could find a better way to solve problems ahead, we should take the step of full scale free admission to museums.12月Creating a Green CampusRecently the topic of a green campus has been widely debated which has aroused public attention.Undoubtedly, a green campus, the indispensable part for the development of college students, has a profound impact on both individulas and society, for its significance cannot be denied.A green campus environment, rather than anything else, plays a decisive role in the growth of college students. Needless to say, a green campus includes not only the places where the students live, but also the mental environment. If there were no green surrounding among the collegestudents, their soul would be not as pure as we wish.In that case, in no place other than campus should we attempt to make a green atmosphere. In view of the seriousness of the situation, it is imperative for us to take effective measures to creat a green campus. In the first place, it is essential that law and regulations be worked out and enforced by thegovernment and authorities.Furthermore, it is ripe time that we enhanced the awareness of the students themselves. Only in this way, can we get a satisfactory results. With these measures taken, it is reasonable for us to believe that a green campus will be achieved in the near future.。

For questions 8–10, complete the sentences with the informationgiven in the passage. How Do You See Diversity? As a manager, Tiffany is responsible for interviewing applicants for some of the positions with hercompany. During one interview, she noticed that the candidate never made direct eye contact. Shewas puzzled and somewhat disappointed because she liked the individual otherwise. He had a perfect resume and gave good responses to her questions, but the fact that he neverlooked her in the eye said ―untrustworthy,‖ so she decided to offer the job to her second choice.―It wasn‘t until I attended a diversity workshop that I realized the person we passed over was theperfect person,‖ Tiffany confesses. What she hadn‘t known at the time of the interview was thatbehavior was simply a cultural misunderstanding. He was anthe candidate‘s―different‖ Asian-American raised in a household where respect for those in authority was shown by averting(避开) your eyes.―I was just thrown off by the lack of eye contact; not realizing it was cultural,‖ Tiffany missed out, but will not miss that opportunity again.‖Many of us have had similar encounters with behaviors we perceive as different. As the worldbecomes smaller and our workplaces more diverse, it is becoming essential to expand ourunderstanding of others and to reexamine some of our false assumptions.Hire AdvantageAt a time when hiring qualified people is becoming more difficult, employers who can eliminateinvalid biases (偏见) from the process have a distinct advantage. My company, Mindsets LLC,helps organizations and individuals see their own blind spots. A real estate recruiter we workedwith illustrates the positive difference such training can make.―During m y Mindsets coaching session, I was taught how to recruit a diversified workforce. Irecruited people from different cultures and skill sets. The agents were able to utilize their fullpotential and experiences to build up the company. When the real estate market began to change, itwas because we had a diverse agent pool that we were able to stay in the real estate market muchlonger than others in the same profession.‖Blinded by GenderDale is an account executive who attended one of my workshops on supervising a diverseworkforce. ―Through one of the sessions, I discovered my personal bias,‖ he recalls. ―Ihad not been looking at a person as a whole person, and being open to differences.‖ In his c the blindness was not about culture but rather gender.―I had a management position open in my department; and the two finalists were a man and awoman. Had I not attended this workshop, I would have automatically assumed the man was thebest candidate because the position required quite a bit of extensive travel. My reasoning wouldhave been that even though both candidates were great and could have been successful in theposition, I assumed the woman would have wanted to be home with her children and not travel.Dale‘s assumptions are another example of the well-intentioned but incorrect thinking that limitsan organization‘s ability to tap into the full potential of a diverse workforce.―I learned from the class that instead of imposing my gender biases into the situation, I needed topresent the full range of duties, responsibilities and expectations to all candidates and allow themto make an informed decision.‖ Dale credits the workshop, ―because it helped me make decisions based on fairness.‖Year of the Know-It-AllDoug is another supervisor who attended one of my workshops. He recalls a major lesson learnedfrom his own employee.―One of my most embarrassing moments was when I had a Chinese-American employee put in arequest to take time off to celebrate Chinese New Year. In my ignorance, I assumed he had hisdates wrong, as the first of January had just passed. When I advised him of this, I gave him a longtalking-to about turning in requests early with the proper dates.―He patiently waited, then when I was done, he said he would like Chinese New Year off, not theWestern New Year. He explained politely that in his culture the new year did not begin Januaryfirst, and that Chinese New Year, which is tied to the lunar cycle, is one of the most celebratedholidays on the Chinese calendar. Needless to say, I felt very embarrassed in assuming he had hisdates mixed up. But I learned a great deal about assumptions, and that the timing of holidaysvaries considerably from culture to culture.―Attending the diversity workshop helped me realize how much I could learn by simply askingquestions and creating dialogues with my employees, rather than making assumptions and tryingto be a know-it-all,‖ Doug admits. ―The biggest thing I took away from the workshop is learninghow to be more ?inclusive‘ to differences.‖A Better Bottom LineAn open mind about diversity not only improves organizations internally, it is profitable as well. These comments from a customer service representative show how an inclusive attitude canglish as a second language. One of the best thingsimprove sales. ―Most of my customers speak Enmy company has done is to contract with a language service that offers translations over the phone. It wasn‘t until my boss received Mindsets‘ training that she was able to understand how important inclusi veness was to customer service. As a result, our customer base has increased.‖Once we start to see people as individuals, and discard the stereotypes, we can move positivelytoward inclusiveness for everyone. Diversity is about coming together and taking advantage of ourdifferences and similarities. It is about building better communities and organizations that enhanceus as individuals and reinforce our shared humanity. When we begin to question our assumptions and challenge what we think we have learned fromour past, from the media, peers, family, friends, etc., we begin to realize that some of ourconclusions are flawed (有缺陷的) or contrary to our fundamental values. We need to train。

2009年英语四级作文It was a hot summer day, and I was feeling restless and bored. I decided to go for a walk in the park to clear my head and get some fresh air. As I strolled along the winding paths, I couldn't help but notice the vibrant colors of the flowers and the cheerful chirping of the birds. It was a welcome change from the hustle and bustle of city life.Suddenly, I spotted a group of children playing on the playground. Their laughter and energy were contagious, and I found myself smiling as I watched them run around and climb on the jungle gym. It was a simple joy to witness their carefree happiness, and it reminded me of the innocence and wonder of childhood. As I continued my walk, I came across an elderly couple sitting on a bench, holding hands and watching the world go by. There was a quiet contentment in their eyes, and it made me realize the beauty of growing old with someone youlove. It was a touching sight that filled me with a sense of hope and warmth. After a while, I found a peaceful spot by the lake and sat down to take in the serene surroundings. The gentle breeze and the sound of water lapping against the shore were soothing, and I felt a sense of calm wash over me. In that moment, I was grateful for the simple pleasures of nature and the opportunity to escape from the chaos of everyday life.。

A museum can never be considered as a financial burden to society. I suggest that the Government should invest a small amount of money on advertisements for the museums in the city. Forexample, ads of the museums should be forwarded on the travel brochures or maps of the city. Consequently tourists come and admission tickets are collected. Both reputation and funds are earned. Conclusion (23 words) In brief, museums should play a role as an instructive means of the city and incomes from admission can keep them running properly.范文2I think this view is not entirely right. In fact, the heart is, and I am disgusted with the poor quality of the people who go in, for example, make much noise and so on, but they can not be refused entry to the grounds. The scavenging or migrant workers or college students are able to enjoy the museum or the public service of ordinary citizens, we have no reason to prevent their entry or disgust. If the public needs to be improved quality, can we hope that museums and libraries as much as possible to facilitate such a body, the less expensive services for the public to enhance public scientific and human qualities, even if the beginning of the drawbacks of free will bring about a certain, but the long-term to stress is beneficial to the public. In addition, the museum free of charge is another meaning, we are beginning to realize the public service shouldbe for the public, and not become a source of profit. In addition to museums, libraries, parks and even public health services, public university education should be as much as possible so that more people have the opportunity to enjoy, instead of being the high cost of tickets, or to stop at the door.。

However, free admission to museums might lead to some social problems as well. The most obvious problem is that it might give museums a very heavy economic burden which directly impedes the sustainable development of these organizations. As a result, our government has to work out other ways to collect funds from different channels, which might be difficult to operate or control. On the other hand, free admission attracts too many visitors, some of which might not be well-purposed and do some conscious or unconscious damage to the valuable treasures which used to be well-preserved in the museums。

You should write at least 150 words following the outline given below in Chinese:1. “永不言弃”一直被认为是一种积极的生活态度,是个人成功的关键因素2. 但是,也有人认为适当的放弃才是明智的选择3. 你对此的看法及理由【范文】Do We Need “Never give up”?It is widely accepted that “Never give up”, a strong and positive life attitude, is the key for individual success on the grounds that permanent persistence may boost our confidence, strengthen our will, and provide us a second chance for success when we are in hardship. However, others argue that sensible abandonment is more precious than blind persistence because the wise one should choose the most suitable area for himself/herself.In my opinion, we need to learn to give up timely. The most immediate reason is that we should adjust our aim carefully in order to go ahead continuously. Sometimes, to give up those unrealistic targets is essential for success. Besides, the attitude “Never give up” exhausts us both mentally and physically. Only through learning to give up can we lead a pleasant and relaxing life. Finally, the temporary comprise means a new start, a beginning bringing new hopes, expectations and opportunities for us.Passive as giving up sounds alike, it represents a more mature and realistic mentality. You should write at least 150 words following the outline given below in Chinese:目前假文凭现象屡见不鲜这种现象造成的危害我们应该怎么做【范文】How to Eliminate Fake Diplomas? There has been a serious epidemic of fake diplomas in some big cities recently. Usually a certificate of Bachelor’s Degree costs about 200 yuan, which is rea lly cheap compared with the 4 years of hard work and the pretty big sum of fees involved in normal ways of getting the diploma. The victims of fake diplomas are first of all employers, who pay high salaries but do not get real talents. People who have genuine diplomas are also hurt greatly. They have honestly spent 4 or even more years and great energy working hard in schools, but cannot get any advantage in job hunting. To combat the epidemic, practical ability and individual personality should be recognized as important factors of excellent job performance. Besides, effective measures supported by advanced IT technology should be introduced and taken to help employers distinguish genuine diplomas from fake ones.四、谈谈你对选秀节目的看法On TV Show时下电视选秀节目非常流行有人认为选秀很好,能给普通人展示自己的机会我的观点【范文】On TV ShowTV has been one medium of communication that has connected millions. And it is this link that makes talent hunt shows on the tube amazingly influential. Young faces conveying disappointment or even overwhelming joy have become a common sight on as many channels as your remote allows you to surf. Some people have their opinions on the TV shows. The advantages of the shows are clear to some people. For one thing, in terms of business, the increasing popularity of talent shows has helped the channels in generating huge income by way of advertising and promotions. For another thing, the TV shows can make the common people have opportunity to show themselves.Personally, I side with the former opinion. It is a wonderful feeling and a great way to relax for me to watch talent shows and see ordinary people like myself become famous and win cashprizes. As long as talent shows are entertaining and inspiring us, there is great sense in keeping and encouraging them.五、A Letter of Advice假设你是一名大四学生,即将毕业离校,请你根据四年的大学生活的经历给大一新生写一封忠告信:1. 作简单介绍2. 大一新生如何适应大学生活3. 强调学习英语的重要性【范文】A Letter of AdviceDear Freshmen,I, the undersigned, am a senior in the Computer Science Department of Peking University. I would like to say a few words to you, which I hope would be helpful to you.To begin with, the change of ideas is of most importance for freshmen to adapt themselves to campus life. During the middle school days, we usually depend upon our teachers at school and parents at home. However, the life and study on university campus features independence, which is essential to our psychological development. In my view, we had better always bear in mind the idea of independence. What’s more, English learning is a must. On one hand, without CET 4 certificate, we can not get our degree when we graduate from university. On the other hand, when we hunt for job, English level is a deciding factor. Therefore, I do hope that all of you will have a good understanding of the necessity of learning English well.Good Luck to you!Sincerely YoursLi Ming。

You should write at least 120 words following the outline given below:1. 越来越多的博物馆免费开放的目的是什么?2. 也会带来一些问题3. 你的看法Part II Reading Comprehension (Skimming and Scanning)(15 minutes)Directions: In this part, you will have 15 minutes to go over the passage quickly and answer the questions on Answer Sheet 1. For questions 1-7, choose the best answer from the four choices marked A),B),C )and D). For questions 8-10, complete the sentences with the information given in the passage. How Do You See Diversity(多样;不同;千变万化)?As a manager, Tiffany is responsible for interviewing applicants for some of the positions with her company. During one interview, she noticed that the candidate(投考者;候选人)never made direct eye contact. She was puzzled and somewhat disappointed because she liked the individual otherwise. He had a perfect resume(1重新开始,2再拿;重占)and gave good responses to her questions, but the fact that he never looked her in the eye said “untrustworthy,”so she decided to offer the job to her second choice.“It wasn’t until I attended a diversity workshop that I realized the person we passed over was the perfect person,” Tiffany confesses. What she hadn’t known at the time of the interview was that the candidate’s “different” behavior was simply a cultural misunderstanding. He was an Asian-American raised in a household where respect for those in authority(1.权威;威信2.权威人士)was shown by averting (避开) your eyes.“I was just thrown off by the lack of eye contact; not realizing it was cultural,”Tiffany says. “I missed out, but will not miss that opportunity again.”Many of us have had similar encounters(遭遇,偶然遇到)with behaviors we perceive(察觉,理解;发觉)as different. As the world becomes smaller and our workplaces more diverse, it is becoming essential to expand our understanding of others and to reexamine some of our false assumptions(假定;假设).Hire AdvantageAt a time when hiring qualified people is becoming more difficult, employers who can eliminate(除去;淘汰)invalid biases (偏见) from the process have a distinct advantage. My company, Mindsets LLC, helps organizations and individuals see their own blind spots. A real estate recruiter we worked with illustrates(加插图;举例说明)the positive difference such training can make.“During my Mindsets coaching session, I was taught how to recruit(n.新兵,新成员;vt.招募,吸收)a diversified workforce(劳动力). I recruited people from different cultures and skill sets. The agents were able to utilize(利用)their full potential and experiences to build up the company. When the real estate market began to change, it was because we had a diverse agent pool that we were able to say in the real estate market much longer than others in the same profession.”Blinded by GenderDale is an account executive who attended one of my workshops on supervising a diverse workforce. “Through one of the sessions, I discovered my personal bias(偏见),” he recalls. “I learned I had not been looking at a person as a whole person, and being open to differences.” In his case, the blindness was not about culture but rather gender.“I had a management position open in my department; and the two finalists were a man and a woman. Had I not attended this workshop, I would have automatically assumed the man was the best candidate because the position required quite a bit of extensive travel. My reasoning would have been that even though both candidates were great and could have been successful in the position, I assumed the woman would have wanted to b e home with her children and not travel.” Dale’s assumptions are another example of the well-intentioned but incorrect thinking that limits anorganization’s ability to tap into the full potential of a diverse workforce.“I learned from the class that instead of imposing my gender biases into the situation, I needed to present the full range of duties, responsibilities and expectations to all candidates and allow them to make an informed decision.”Dale credits the work shop, “because it helped me make decisions based on fairness.”Year of the Know-It-AllDoug is another supervisor who attended one of my workshops. He recalls a major lesson learned from his own employee.“One of my most embarrassing moments was when I had a Chinese-American employee put in a request to take time off to celebrate Chinese New Year. In my ignorance, I assumed(假装,假定)he had his dates wrong’, as the first of January had just passed. When I advised him of this, I gave him a tong talking-to about turning in requests early with the proper dates.“He patiently waited, then when I was done, he said he would like Chinese New Year off, not the Western New Year. He explained politely that in his culture the new year did not begin January first, and that Chinese New Year, which is tied to the lunar cycle, is one of the most celebrated holidays on the Chinese calendar. Needless to say, I felt very embarrassed in assuming he had his dates mixed up. But I learned a great deal about assumptions(假定;假设), and that the timing of holidays varies considerably from culture to culture.“Attending the diversity workshop helped me realize how much I could learn by simply asking questions and creating dialogues with toy employees, rather than making assumptions and trying to be a know-it-all,” Doug admits. “The biggest thing I took away f rom the workshop is learning how to be more ‘inclusive(包括一切的;包括的)’to differences.”A Better Bottom LineAn open mind about diversity not only improves organizations internally, it is profitable as well. These comments from a customer service representative show how an i nclusive attitude can improve sales. “Most of my customers speak English as a second language. One of the best things my company has done is to contract with alanguage service that offers translations over the phone. It wasn’t until my boss received Mindsets’training that she was able to understand how important inclusiveness was to customer service. As a result, our customer base has increased.”Once we start to see people as individuals, and discard(抛开;遗弃)the stereotypes, we can move positively toward inclusiveness for everyone. Diversity is about coming together and taking advantage of our differences and similarities. It is about building better communities and organizations that enhance(增加;提高)us as individuals and reinforce(增强) our shared humanity. When we begin to question our assumptions and challenge what we think we have learned from our past, from the media, peers, family, friends, etc., we begin to realize that some of our conclusions are flawed (有缺陷的) or contrary to our fundamental(基础的;基本的;重要的)values. We need to train ourselves to think differently, shift our mindsets and realize that diversity opens doors for all of us, creating opportunities in organizations and communities that benefit everyone.注意:此部分试题请在答题卡1上作答。
2009年6月英语四级真题+听力原文
2009年6月大学英语四级考试真题解析Part I WritingFree Admission To Museums Nowadays,an increasing number of museums are admission-free to visitors home and abroad. The hidden reason behind this is not hard to analyze as there’s a growing awareness for the authorities regarding the urgency of popularization of culture, knowledge and history with every average person in our society.Only with free access to this live‘database’,can most people fully enjoy what museums could offer to them. As a university student,I am in favor of the free-admission conduct.Yet it is proposed that some measures should be taken to solve the potential problems caused by it.For example, museums can make some regulations to guide the behavior of visitors or set some ‘closed’days for museums for regular maintenance.Only in this way can free-admission to museums become a long-lasting phenomenon and have sustainable development.Part II Reading Comprehension(Skimming and Scanning)1.A.由题干中的bothered,Tiffany,during an interview,定位到第一段第二、三句。

consumers,only18%are even aware that ecofashion exists,up from6%four years ago.Natalie Hormilla,a fashion writer,is an example of the unconverted consumer, when asked if she owned any sustainable clothes, she replied:“Not that I’m aware of.”Like most consumers, she finds little time to shop, and when she does, she’s on the hunt for“cute stuff that isn’t too expensive.”By her own admission, green is very much opposed to theidea61.What does the author think of green fashion?A)Green products will soon go mainstream.B)It has a very promising future.C)Consumers have the final say.D)It will appeal more to young people.Passage TwoQuestions62to66are based on the following passage.Scientists have devised a way to determine roughly where a person has lived using a strand(缕)of hair,a technique that could help track the movements of criminal suspects or unidentified murder victims. The method relies on measuring how chemical variations in drinking water show up in people’s hair.“You’re what you eat and drink, and that’s recorded in you hair,”said Thure Cerling,a geologist at the University of Utah. While U.S diet is relatively identical, water supplies vary. The differences result from weather patterns. The chemical composition of rainfall changes slightly as raid clouds move. Most hydrogen and oxygen atoms in water are stable, but traces of both elements are also present as heavier isotopes(同位素).The heaviest raid falls first. As a result, storms that form over the Pacific deliver heavier water to California than to Utah.Similar patterns exist throughout the U.S.By measuring the proportion of heavier hydrogen and oxygen isotopes along a strand of hair, scientists can construct a geographic timeline. Each inch of hair corresponds to about two months.Cerling’s team collected tap water samples from600cities and constructed a mop of the regional differences. They checked the accuracy of the map by testing200 hair samples collected from65barber shops. They were able to accurately place the hair samples in broad regions roughly corresponding to the movement of raid systems.“It’s not good for pinpointing(精确定位),”Cerling said.“It’s good for eliminating many possibilities.”Todd Park,a local detective, said the method has helped him learn more about an unidentified woman whose skeleton was found near Great Salt Lake. The woman was5feet tall.Police recovered26bones,a T-shirt and several strands of hair. When Park heard about the research,he gave the hair samples to the researchers. Chemical testing showed that over the two years before her death, she moved about every two months. She stayed in the Northwest, although the test could not be more specific than somewhere between eastern Oregon and western Wyoming.“It’s still a substantial area,”Park said“But it narrows it way down for me.”62.What is the scientists’new discovery?A)One’s hair growth has to do with the amount of water they drink.B)A person’s hair may reveal where they have lived.C)Hair analysis accurately identifies criminal suspects.D)The chemical composition of hair varies from person to person.63.What does the author mean by“You’re what you eat and drink”(Line1,Para.3)?A)Food and drink affect one’s personality development.B)Food and drink preferences vary with individuals.C)Food and drink leave traces in one’s body tissues.D)Food and drink are indispensable to one’s existence.64.What is said about the rainfall in America’s West?A)There is much more rainfall in California than in Utah.B)The water it delivers becomes lighter when it moves inland.C)Its chemical composition is less stable than in other areas.D)It gathers more light isotopes as it moves eastward.65.What did Cerling’s team produce in their research?A)A map showing the regional differences of tap water.B)A collection of hair samples from various barber shops.C)A method to measure the amount of water in human hair.D)A chart illustrating the movement of the rain system.66.What is the practical value of Cerling’s research?A)It helps analyze the quality of water in different regions.B)It helps the police determine where a crime is committed.C)It helps the police narrow down possibilities in detective work.D)It helps identify the drinking habits of the person under investigation.Part V Cloze (15minutes)Part VI Translation (5minutes)Kimiyuki Suda should be a perfect customer for Japan’s car-makers.He’s a young, successful executive at an Internet-services company in Tokyo and has plenty of disposable 67.He used to own Toyota’s Hilux Surf,a sport utility vehicle. But now he uses 68subways and grains .“It’s not inconvenient at all ,”he says 69,“having a car is so 20th century.”Suda reflects a worrisome 70in Japan;the automobile is losing its emotional appeal,71among the young ,who prefer to spend their money on the latest electronic devices.72mini-cars and luxury foreign brands are still popular ,everything in between is st years sales fell 6.7percent,7.6percent 74you don’t count the mini-car market .There have been 75one-year drops in other nations :sales in Germany fell 9percent in 200776a tax increase .But experts say Japan is77in that sales have been decreasing steadily 78time.Since 1990,yearly new-car sales have fallen from 7.8million to 5.4million units in 2007.67.A)profitC)income B)payment D)budget68.A)mostlyC)occasionally B)partially D)rarely 69.A)ThereforeC)Otherwise B)Besides D)Consequently 70.A)driftC)current B)tideD)trend 71.A)remarkablyC)specially B)essentially D )particularly 72.A)WhileC)When B)Because D)Since 73.A)surgingC)slipping B)stretching D)shaking 74.A)unlessC)as B)if D)after 75.A)lowerC)broader B)slighter D)larger 76.A)liable toC)thanks to B)in terms of D)in view of 77.A)uniqueC)mysterious B)similar D)strange 78.A)overC)on B)against D)behind Alarmed by this state of79,the JapanAutomobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA)80a comprehensive study of the market in2006.It found that a81wealth gap, demographic (人口结构的)changes and82lack of interest in cars led Japanese to hold their 83longer ,replace their cars with smallerones 84give up car ownership altogether .JAMA 85a further sales decline of 1.2percent thisyear. Some experts believe that if the trend continues for much longer ,further consolidation (合并)in the automotive sector is86.79.A)messC)growth B)boom D)decay 80.A)proceededC)launched B)relieved D)revised81.A)quickeningC)strengthening B)widening D)lengthening 82.A)averageC)abundant B)massive D)general 83.A)labelsC)vehicles B)cycles D)devices 84.A)orC)but B)untilD)then 85.A)concludesC)reckons B)predicts D)prescribes 86.A)distantC)temporary B)likelyD)immediate。

For another, we should cultivate the awareness of people that museums are extremely vital to us humans. It is high time that we attached great importance to our motherlands’ splendid and glorious culture of more than five thousand years.
It is my view that free admission to museums is of utmost significance. For one thing, we should appeal to our authorities to legislate strict laws and regulations to protect these museums.
Although free admission to museums enjoys distinct advantages, it also brings harmful effects. In the first place, these valuable cultural relics displayed may be damaged or destroyed consciously or unconsciously by the crowds. In the second place, it becomes a huge economic burden for museums to run as usual without any profits from the visitors.
