spot v.
Glancing at the bits of wood and metal that lay around him, the man sadly picked up the mattress and carried it into his house.
Glimpse—⽆
新⼆第42课,when he began to play a tune, we had our first glimpse of the
snake.
Peer—

Once upon a time, in a kingdom far away, a baby girl was born. Her skin was pure as snow. Her hair was dark as night. They called her Snow White.Probably because that was the most pretentious name they could come up with.(很久以前,在一个遥远的国家里,一个小女孩诞生了。 But no one has to muster up courage to enter a less pretentious antique shop.

New Year resolutions
New Year resolutions
The New Year is a time for resolutions. Mentally, at least, most of us could compile formidable lists of ‘dos’ and ‘don'ts’. The same old favourites recur year in year out with monotonous regularity. We resolve to get up earlier each morning, eat less, find more time to play with the children, do a thousand and one jobs about the house, be nice to people we don't like, drive carefully, and take the dog
for a walk every day. Past experience has taught us that certain accomplishments are beyond attainment. If we remain inveterate smokers, it is only because we have so often experienced the frustration that results from failure. Most of us fail in our efforts at self-improvement because our schemes are too ambitious and we never have time to carry them out. We also make the fundamental error of announcing our resolutions to everybody so that we look even more

I offered to pay him for his help but he refused(payment).
Captain Fawcett has just refused/denied a strange request from a businessman.
All those not holding tickets will be refused/denied entry.
The secretary denies that she has stolen the letter.
bring,take与fetch
If youre going to the kitchen, would you mind bringing me a glass of water please?
