Corruption is on the rise in China

中国通缉外逃贪官(英语作文)China gives 'priority list' of wanted officials to U.S.BEIJING (Reuters) - The Chinese government has provided a "priority" list to the United States of Chinese officials suspected of corruption and are believed to have fled there, a top state-run newspaper said on Wednesday.Last year, Chinese officials said more than 150 "economic fugitives", many of them described as corrupt government officials, were in the United States.Xu Jinhui, head of the anti-graft bureau at the state prosecutor, told the official China Daily that "a priority list of alleged Chinese corrupt officials"believed to be at large in the United States has been provided to U.S. authorities. Most suspected corrupt officials overseas either worked for the government or state-owned enterprises and took bribes or embezzled public funds, Xu said. The report did not elaborate.Senior U.S. officials will meet their Chinese counterparts in August to discuss the possibility of repatriating Chinese officials who have fled to America with billions of dollars of allegedly stolen government assets, a U.S. official said last month.Xu added that Chinese authorities will start legal procedures to confiscate assets overseas, the newspaper said."Once in possession of solid evidence, we will initiate confiscation procedures according to the law," he said, again without elaborating. The United States may deport to China the ex-wife of a fugitive Chinese official indicted on money laundering and immigration fraud charges, a U.S. prosecutor said last week. But there is no extradition treaty between the two countries and Western governments have long been reluctant to hand over suspects because of a lack of transparency and due process in China's judicial system.Liu Dong, head of the Chinese Ministry of Public Security's economic crimes division, told the China Daily that U.S. authorities are prejudiced against China's legal system and "mistakenly believe we would undertake unfair prosecution of suspects".The Chinese government has launched a campaign, dubbed Operation Fox Hunt, to hunt down officials and businessmen who have absconded, often taking theirill-gotten gains with them, part of President Xi Jinping's battle against deep-seated graft.Separately, state news agency Xinhua said Xu Gang, the deputy governor of southern Fujian province, has been sacked after authorities launched a corruption investigation.Xinhua, citing the Communist Party's central Organisation Department, said the government has removed Xu's "leadership position" as he is being investigated for suspected serious breaches of party discipline and the law, the usual euphemism the government uses for graft. The article did not give more details and it was not possible to contact Xu for comment.(Reporting by Ben Blanchard, Additional reporting by Sui-Lee Wee; Editing by Michael Perry)Frankie 59 minutes agoThe list is too long to get it done in US alone;Maybe the net is full of holes to allow some big fish to escape unharmed. Most of stolen funds had vanished in some remote corners of earth and will be hard to get it back.As a Chinese cliche- the heavenlynet is loose but never fail to catch. We will see how far and wide this net is cast, then we will see how many they can catch.FEK 1 hour agoI'm sure CCP assassin squad is waiting for the green light if US doesn't comply. He said, "If you claim $20K and he counts $21K, they will confiscate the total amount.""If you claim $21K and he counts $20K, they will confiscate the total amount."If one fills out the declaration form with an amount todeclare and hands the declaration form to the customs officer, before (if) he decides to count the amount, he will ask you one more time, "Is this amount accurate?" 中国革命历史英语作文高中
中国革命历史英语作文高中Throughout the vast tapestry of human history, few nations have undergone as profound a transformation as China did during its revolution. This essay aims to explore the pivotal moments and the ideological shifts that marked the Chinese revolution, and how it has shaped the country's modern identity. The Chinese revolution is a complex narrative that spans several decades, with its roots in the early 20th century. It was a time when China, once an imperial power, found itself beset by internal strife and external threats. The fall of the Qing Dynasty in 1912 marked the end of over two millennia of imperial rule, paving the way for a series of events that would redefine the nation. One of the most significant chapters in the history of the Chinese revolution is the rise of the Communist Party of China (CPC). Founded in 1921, the CPC initially struggled to gain a foothold amidst a landscape of warlords and foreign influence. However, under the leadership of figures like Mao Zedong, the party began to rally the peasantry and workers around a vision of a socialist China. The Long March (1934-1935) stands as a testament to the resilience and determination of the CPC. Faced with thethreat of annihilation by the Nationalist forces led by Chiang Kai-shek, the Communists undertook a grueling retreatthat covered thousands of miles. This journey not onlyallowed the CPC to regroup but also became a symbol of their indomitability. The Second Sino-Japanese War (1937-1945) and the subsequent Chinese Civil War (1946-1949) were critical in consolidating the power of the CPC. The war against Japanese aggression galvanized the Chinese people, and the CPC positioned itselfas the defender of the nation's sovereignty. By the time the civil war ended, the CPC emerged victorious, and on October 1, 1949, the People's Republic of China was proclaimed. The establishment of the People's Republic of China marked a new era in the country's history. The CPC set about transforming China through a series of social and economic reforms. Land reforms redistributed land to the peasants, and industrialization campaigns aimed to modernize the nation's economy. However, this period was also marked by challenges such as the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution, which had significant social and economic repercussions. The Chinese revolution also had a profound impact on the country's foreign policy. China's emergence as a communist state during the Cold War led to a complex relationship with the Western world. However, the policy of Reform and Opening Up, initiated by Deng Xiaoping in the late 1970s, began to integrate China into the global economy, leading to rapid economic growth and a rise in international prominence. In conclusion, the history of the Chinese revolution is astory of struggle, transformation, and the rebirth of anation. It is a narrative that continues to influence China's path on the world stage. As high school students studyingthis period, it is essential to understand not only the historical events but also the ideological shifts and their long-term implications on China's development and its role in the global community.。

Corruption and integrity are two sides of the same coin. Corruption undermines the rule of law, weakens the foundation of society, and damages the trust between the government and the people. It is essential for every individual to uphold integrity and resist corruption in all aspects of life.Corruption not only harms the economy but also erodes public trust in government institutions. 军阀混战英语作文Warlordism in China refers to the period of time in the early 20th century when various military commanders, known as warlords, fought for control over different regions of the country. This period of chaos and instability was marked by violence, corruption, and the breakdown ofcentral authority. The roots of warlordism can be traced back to the fall of the Qing Dynasty in 1911 and the subsequent power vacuum that was left in its wake. With the central government weakened, local military leaders began to assert their own authority and vie for control over different regions. These warlords often ruled through a combination of military force, political maneuvering, and alliances with other warlords. The result was a period of intense conflict and bloodshed as warlords fought for dominance. The country was divided into a patchwork of territories, each controlled bya different warlord and his private army. Thisfragmentation made it difficult for the central governmentto assert its authority and maintain order. In addition to the violence and instability, warlordism also brought about widespread corruption and lawlessness. Warlords often used their power to enrich themselves and their supporters, while ordinary citizens suffered from extortion, theft, and other forms of abuse. The breakdownof central authority also meant that basic services such as law enforcement and infrastructure maintenance were neglected, further exacerbating the suffering of the people. The period of warlordism finally came to an end withthe rise of the Nationalist government under Chiang Kai-shek in the late 1920s. Through a combination of military campaigns and political maneuvering, Chiang was able to defeat or co-opt many of the warlords and reunify much ofthe country under the authority of the central government. However, the legacy of warlordism continued to linger, and the country would continue to face periods of conflict and division in the years to come.In conclusion, warlordism in China was a period of chaos and instability marked by violence, corruption, and the breakdown of central authority. The rise of warlords and their private armies led to widespread suffering and hardship for the people, and it took the rise of a strong central government to finally bring an end to this period of strife. The legacy of warlordism continues to influence China to this day, serving as a reminder of the dangers of unchecked power and the importance of a strong, unified government.。

Corruption is on the rise in China. It exists in almost any field, like economy, politics, education and in different forms, say, bribery, embezzlement, graft, back-door deals, nepotism. Bribery in political areas is most eye-catching, for cases in which some high-ranking officials exchange their power for benefits are often reported in the media. Even in the educational field, some illegal or dishonest practices like unreasonable charges, taking bribes, selling diplomas, academic cheating taking the forms of plagiarism(剽窃)、fabrication(伪造数据)以及duplicate/multiple publication (一稿多发)etc. are not in the minority. Corruption has become a great barrier in the development of our society.
Then what contribute to these corruption acts? The causes are complicated but mainly come down to the following. Firstly, greed in human nature is the root of the phenomenon. Many people chase a luxurious life and material enjoyment. They find it very difficult to resist the temptation of money, power, and beauties. Because of being greedy, they can never satisfy their demands. So they forget their principles and become corrupt. Secondly, the election system is not faultless. Many incompetent and immoral people are appointed to important positions with highly centralized powers. They have final say in everything. So it creates the soil for them to be corrupted. Thirdly, the supervision mechanism is imperfect. The subordinates or the public have no way to know what they are doing. So there are a lot of loopholes for corruption.
To combat corruption is urgent for us. First of all, we should perfect the system of promotion to ensure that only the capable people with moral sense can be promoted to leading positions. What’s more, the supervision mechanism should be established and enforced. There should be a code of rules to make those in charge behave themselves, or they will be punished severely. Lastly, the public should enhance their sense of masters. They should discipline themselves to stay away from illegal acts and watch over those in charge of power.。
