Every year the White House celebrates the day after Easter Sunday in style. The President and First Lady throw a party for thousands of guests – mostly kids – on the White House South Lawn and nearby. There is plenty to do at this all-day affair--everything from storytelling and stage shows to art activities--and plenty to eat. But it is the egg rolling that attracts the most attention. Easter involves eggs, and the White House celebration has lots of them. Thousands of hard-boiled eggs are dyed different colors, and guests go home with special wooden eggs.
Washington. D,C has been hosting egg parties for quite some time. Some say Dolley Madison and also Abraham Lincoln held egg –rolling parties. The Easter parties are never the same. In the late 1880s, John Philip Dousa, a famous director, started performing at them. In the late 1920s, he even wrote a musical composition called ―Easter Monday on the Write House Lawn‖. In those years, guests played Egg Ball, toss and catch or Egg Croquet (槌球戏). Sometimes they went on an egg bunt. While egg rolling was a big part of every party, egg – rolling races didn’t begin until the early 1970s. And it wasn’t until 1969 that the While House Easter Bunny was invited. He has been a every party since then.
Only a lew things can stop the White House Easter event. It has been canceled because of war, weather, and work being done on the Whine House. But nothing seems to keep kids away from this popular public event – one of the oldest in While House history. Two years ago, more than ten thousand guests celebrated Easter and egg rolling in White House style.

People can be addicted to different things –e, g alcohol, drug, certain foods, or even television. People who have such an addiction are compulsive (强迫的); they have a very powerful psychological need that they feel they must satisfy. According to psychologists, many people are compulsive spenders. They feel that they must spend money. This compulsion, like others, is impossible to explain reasonably. For compulsive spenders who buy on credit, charge accounts are even more exciting than money. In other words, compulsive spenders feel that with credit, they can do anything. Their pleasure in spending large amounts is actually greater than the pleasure that they get from the things they buy.
There is even a special psychology of bargain hunting. To save money, of course, most people look for sales, low prices, and discounts. Compulsive bargain hunters, however, often buy things that they don’t need just because they are cheap. They want to believe that they are helping their budgets, but they are really playing an exciting game. When they can buy something for less than other people, they feel that they are winning. Most people, experts claim, have two reasons for their behavior: a good reason for the things that they do and the real reason.
It is not only scientists, of course, who understand the psychology of spending habits, but also business people. Stores, companies, and advertisers use psychology to increase business. They consider people’s needs for love, power, or influence, their basic values, their beliefs and opinions, and so on in their advertising and sales methods.
Psychologists often use a method called behavior therapy(疗法) to help individuals solve their personality problems. In the same way, they can help people who feel that they have problems with money.
60.According to the psychologists, a compulsive spender is one who spends large amounts of money __ ___.

63.From the text we may safely conclude that compulsive spenders or compulsive bargain hunters ___ __.

―Go for it!‖
The expression ―go for it!‖ is a way of encouraging someone to try
something. ―Go for it!‖ means you should not worry about failure or he

yards. The team must make a critical decision.
The conservative choice is to kick the ball and accept temporary defeat in order to gain a good position for your team the next time it gets the ball. The more exciting choice, however, is to try a fourth and final time to gain the remaining yards needed.
People present are certain to shout their advice. Some will shout: ―Kick the ball!‖ But others will encourage the team to take a chance. ―Go for it!‖ they will scream.
In the nineteen eighties, people began using this expression in many kinds of situations to encourage someone to act bravely.
There is no guarantee that the action you ―go for it‖ will succeed.
But that is the chance you take when you decide to go for it. You put your fears behind. You choose courage over safety. You hold your breath and go for it.
68.The expression ―Go for it!‖ comes from _______.

A Letter to High School Students in Liaoning
Dear fellow students,
Our government is aiming to build a ―harmonious society‖. I think it is every citizen’s duty to work hard to achieve this goal.
As high school students, what should we do?
In my opinion, it is our essential obligation to care about our country, our hometown and our school. And we should make efforts to maintain harmonious relationship between people. In family life, we should be honest to our parents. At school, we should get along well with our classmates and pay respect to our teachers. Other coinsures are our friends and the natural environment is our home, so we must be nice to them. And saving energy guarantees humans to live longer on earth without much worry.
As for myself, I will devote myself to building our harmonious society in my daily life. For example, I will help my classmates and even strangers with their problems. I hope my actions can inspire more people to join as.
Dear fellow students, Let’s start fight now and spare no effort to do a little bit every day, every hour, and every minute?
