extends from the outer L/F edges of the package to the L/F‘‘tips’’(wedge bond/stitch bond region of the innermost portion of the L/F.)2.11Reflective Acoustic Microscope An acoustic microscope that uses one transducer as both the pulser and receiver. (This is also known as a pulse/echo system.)See Figure5-Diagram of a Reflective Acoustic Microscope System.2.12Through Transmission Acoustic Microscope An acoustic microscope that transmits ultrasound System(see Figure6)comprised of:3.2.1Items3.1.1to3.1.6above3.2.2Ultrasonic pulser(can be a pulser/receiver as in3.1.1)3.2.3Separate receiving transducer or ultrasonic detection system3.3Reference packages or standards,including packages with delamination and packages without delamination,for use during equipment setup.3.4Sample holder for pre-positioning samples.The holder should keep the samples from moving during the scan and maintain planarity.4PROCEDUREThis procedure is generic to all acoustic microscopes.For operational details related to this procedure that apply to a spe-cific model of acoustic microscope,consult the manufacturer’s operational manual.4.1Equipment Setup4.1.1Select the transducer with the highest useable ultrasonic frequency,subject to the limitations imposed by the media thickness and acoustic characteristics,package configuration,and transducer availability,to analyze the interfaces of inter-est.The transducer selected should have a low enough frequency to provide a clear signal from the interface of interest.The transducer should have a high enough frequency to delineate the interface of interest.Note:Through transmission mode may require a lower frequency and/or longer focal length than reflective mode.Through transmission is effective for the initial inspection of components to determine if defects are present.4.1.2Verify setup with the reference packages or standards(see3.3above)and settings that are appropriate for the trans-ducer chosen in4.1.1to ensure that the critical parameters at the interface of interest correlate to the reference standard uti-lized.4.1.3Place units in the sample holder in the coupling medium such that the upper surface of each unit is parallel with the scanning plane of the acoustic transducer.Sweep air bubbles away from the unit surface and from the bottom of the trans-ducer head.4.1.4At afixed distance(Z),align the transducer and/or stage for the maximum reflected amplitude from the top surface of the sample.The transducer must be perpendicular to the sample surface.4.1.5Focus by maximizing the amplitude,in the A-mode display,of the reflection from the interface designated for imag-ing.This is done by adjusting the Z-axis distance between the transducer and the sample.4.2Perform Acoustic Scans4.2.1Inspect the acoustic image(s)for any anomalies,verify that the anomaly is a package defect or an artifact of the imaging process,and record the results.(See Appendix A for an example of a check sheet that may be used.)To determine if an anomaly is a package defect or an artifact of the imaging process it is recommended to analyze the A-mode display at the location of the anomaly.4.2.2Consider potential pitfalls in image interpretation listed in,but not limited to,Appendix B and some of the limita-tions of acoustic microscopy listed in,but not limited to,Appendix C.If necessary,make adjustments to the equipment setup to optimize the results and rescan.4April1999IPC/JEDEC J-STD-035 encapsulated components for the existence of delaminations,cracks,and voids.This technique has limitations that include the following: LIMITATION REASONAcoustic microscopy has difficulty infinding small defects if the package is too thick.The ultrasonic signal becomes more attenuated as a function of two factors:the depth into the package and the transducer fre-quency.The greater the depth,the greater the attenuation.Simi-larly,the higher the transducer frequency,the greater the attenu-ation as a function of depth.There are limitations on the Z-axis(axial)resolu-tion.This is a function of the transducer frequency.The higher the transducer frequency,the better the resolution.However,the higher frequency signal becomes attenuated more quickly as a function of depth.There are limitations on the X-Y(lateral)resolu-tion.The X-Y(lateral)resolution is a function of a number of differ-ent variables including:•Transducer characteristics,including frequency,element diam-eter,and focal length•Absorption and scattering of acoustic waves as a function of the sample material•Electromechanical properties of the X-Y stageIrregularly shaped packages are difficult to analyze.The technique requires some kind offlat reference surface.Typically,the upper surface of the package or the die surfacecan be used as references.In some packages,cambered packageedges can cause difficulty in Itssmall size makes it especially useful in field applications where portability is required. It is intended for (but not limited to) totally automatic fusion (Autogenous) welding of tube, pipe fittings using AMI Model 9 Tube Welding Heads.The M-207 employs a constant-current Line Inverter as the Weld Current Power source and a 16-bit microprocessor with memory for control of all system functions. The HF starter will reliably start the arc atcurrent levels of 5 amps in Argon and 10 amps in Helium using a suitably preparedthoriated or ceriated tungsten electrode with an arc gap of 0.080 inch or less, with weldhead cables of 100 feet or less.Protective devices are installed in the HF starter and at suitable points in the system toprevent HF feed through the power lines or to internal, sensitive components.The Starting Frequency is approximately 10 MHz and will vary with components andcables.8.0 MeteringDuring the weld sequence, one of the displays provides sliding scale indicators whichdisplay Amperes, Arc Volts and Rotation Speed.The meters are intended as an information and trouble-shooting guide and are notintended to be used for Quality Control or calibration purposes.9.0 MicroprocessorThe M-207 contains a 16-bit microprocessor with BATRAM memory. The microprocessor has operating software which supplies all of the standard functions of this Specification.All standard commands are inputted into the microprocessor via the display panel keys.All steps of operation and programming are prompted by the displays (in English, French or German) contained in the display panel.Model 207 Automatic GTAW Welding System10.0 EMI SuppressionThe M-207 is equipped with a heavy-duty Pi-Network filter, connected to the input power line, to prevent propagation of EMI either into or out of the M-207. All-metal enclosures and internal shields prevent radiated EMI.11.0 Operation, ModesThe M-207 has three (3) basic modes of operation. The modes are selected via a 3-way keylock mode switch. The key can be removed to lock the system into any of its threemodes as described below:11.1 Operate Mode: The operate mode is really two-fold: Non-welding Functions andAutomatic Weld Sequence. Automatic fault detection for gas flow, coolant flow, overheating, etc.Engages “All Stop” automatically.Automatic Weld Sequence: Sequence Start is initiated by the operator and thefollowing events occur automatically in the sequence described below:8. Pre-purge Time: 0 to 999 seconds with automatic initiation of arc gassolenoid at beginning of sequence.9. Arc Initiation (after pre-purge): Via impulse HF Starter.10. Arc Detection: After Arc Initiation, the M-207 will detect if there is an arc. Ifarc start is not successful, it will notify the operator to start over; ifsuccessful, the following will all start at the same time:Current Upslope Time: 0.0 to 99.9 seconds. The current will rise during thistime to its maximum programmed value.Rotation Start Delay Time: 0.0 to 99.9 seconds. This programmed function sets theperiod of time that the level 1 primary current value will be used beforeswitching to level 2 or end of sequence.11. Levels: After upslope the Primary current will be at its full programmedvalue and will remain at that value until the level 1 time is over. Up to 99levels of Primary current and Time for each can be programmed and thesystem will advance from level to level as each level time is completed. Alllevels do not have to be programmed.When the last level time (1, 2, 3, 8, 12, etc.) is complete, the system will“Sequence Stop” automatically.12. Sequence Stop: When the last programmed level time is over, the systemwill do the following:Downslope Time: 0 to 99.9 seconds. The current will progress to 0Amperes during this time. When the current is less than 3 Amperes, theArc will go off.Rotation Delay: The arc will continue to rotate for the same time as thedownslope and stop rotating when the arc goes out.13. Post-purge Time: 0 to 999 seconds. When the arc goes out the gas willcontinue to flow until this programmed time is complete.14. Return-to-Home and Reset: When the post-purge time is complete, the arcgas solenoid will turn off and Model 9 rotors will automatically return to the“open” position for Head removal. The system will reset to be able torepeat the sequence on the next weld.11.2 Operate Lock ModeWhen the three-way keylock is in this position, the selected weld schedulecannot be changed. When engaged in theprogramming mode, the M-207 will perform the following.1. The display will ask if the user wants to Create a new weld schedule, Copyan existing schedule, Modify an existing schedule, Transfer the weldschedule memory to another M-207 or Delete a weld schedule.2. When the above choice is made the display will prompt the programmer foreach step.3. See the M-207 operation manual for further programming details.11.4 PrinterThe M-207 is supplied standard with a printer and print select key. The printercan issue a copy of the following items:1. A complete list of all weld schedules in memory including day and date ofprint.2. A complete copy of all program parameters for any particular weld scheduleincluding day and date of print. The system can be set up to issue a copyof this automatically after every weld.3. A complete copy of all actual function values during a weld including dayand date of print and a statement as to whether or not the functionsperformed as programmed.4. A complete copy of all weld numbers contained in the optional M-207-EMM(External Memory Module).12.0 Additional Standard Features12.1 Weld Count: The system will keep track of how many times a particular weldschedule has been used.12.2 Tenth Increments: The system can be set up to be able to program amperesand weld level time in increments of 0.1 instead of the standard 1 amp or 1second.12.3 External Sensor Fault: In addition to the built-in faults (gas, coolant, voltage,etc.) the system can be set up to accept fault information from other sourcessuch as an Oxygen Analyzer or Temperature Monitor.Model 207 Automatic GTAW Welding System12.0 Additional Standard Features (continued)12.4 Speed Math Function: M-9 Heads rotation is entered in RPM. By entering the weld O.D. and the desired welding speed,the system will automatically calculate and display the correct RPM setting.12.5 Tungsten Length Math Function: Allows the system to calculate requiredtungsten length.12.6 Rotation Calibration: Weld Head contain tachometers and they must becalibrated to the M-207 they are being run on. A built-in Automatic Calibrationfeature is included in the M-207.12.7 Remote Equipment Start/Stop: The M-207 has input and output connectors toallow for the connection of external devices such as lathes or mills that mayneed to turn on during the welding sequence.13.0 OptionsThe M-207 can operate a variety of options as follows:13.1 Remote Operators Pendant: This option allows the operator to set-up, selectweld schedule from a remote location.13.2 M-207-CW Optional Cooling Package: An add-on liquid-cooling unit for weldheads with duty cycles and weld currents requiring liquid-cooling of the weldhead or manual torch.13.3 M-207-EMM External Memory Module: Used to store, transfer or back-upcopies of the M-207 memory.13.4 Chart Recorder: The M-207 is supplied standard with a Chart Recorder OutputPort. Step 2 Align Modular Components to be ready for assembly. At the front and rear of the Modular Components that are being joined together, attach a connecting Bracket to join the items using (2) ¼ x 7/8” Hex Head Bolts fitted with (1) ¼” Lock Washer each through the slot in the brackets into the threaded holes at the front and back of the components. Threaded holes are located below the cushion under sling near the front of the furniture components. Tighten bolts hand tight in both locations.

a r X i v :m a t h /0603395v 1 [m a t h .R T ] 16 M a r 2006STANDARD MODULE CONJECTUREV.Heiermann and G.Mui ´c Abstract.Let G be a quasi-split p -adic group.Under the assumption that the local coefficients C ψdefined with respect to ψ-generic tempered representations of standard Levi subgroups of G are regular in the negative Weyl chamber,we show that the standard module conjecture is true,which means that the Langlands quotient of a standard module is generic if and only if the standard module is irreducible.Let F be a non archimedean local field of characteristic 0.Let G be the group of points of a quasi-split connected reductive F -group.Fix a F -Borel subgroup B =T U of G and a maximal F -split torus T 0in T .If M is any semi-standard F -Levi subgroup of G ,a standard parabolic subgroup of M will be a F -parabolic subgroup of M which contains B ∩M .Denote by W the Weyl group of G defined with respect to T 0and by w G 0the longest element in W .After changing the splitting in U ,for any generic repre-sentation πof G ,one can always find a non degenerate character ψof U ,which is compatible with w G 0,such that πis ψ-generic [Sh2,section 3].For any semi-standard Levi-subgroup M of G ,we will still denote by ψthe restriction of ψto M ∩U .It is compatible with w M 0.If we write in the sequel that a representation of a F -semi-standard Levi subgroup of G is ψ-generic,then we always mean that ψis a non degenerate character of U with the above properties.Let P =MU be a standard parabolic subgroup of G and T M the maximal split torus in the center of M .We will write a ∗M for the dual of the real Lie-algebra of T M and a ∗+M for the positive Weyl chamber in a ∗M defined with respect to P .There is a canonical map H M :M →a M ,such that |χ(m )|F =q − χ,H M (m ) for every F -rational character χ∈a ∗M of M .(We remark that this is not the classical definition of H M .)If πis a smooth representation of M and ν∈a ∗M ,we denote πνthe smooth representation of M defined by πν(m )=q − ν,H M (m ) π(m ).The symbol i G P will denote the functor of parabolic induction normalized such that it sends unitary representations to unitary representations,G acting on its space by right translations.Let τbe a generic irreducible tempered representation of M and ν∈a ∗+M .Thenthe induced representation i G P τνhas a unique irreducible quotient J (τ,ν),the so-called Langlands quotient.Typeset by A M S -T E X12V.HEIERMANN AND G.MUI´CThe aim of our paper is to prove the standard module conjecture[CSh],which states thatJ(τ,ν)is generic,if and only if i G Pτνis irreducible.We achieve this aim under the assumption that the local coefficients Cψdefined with respect toψ-generic tempered representations of standard Levi subgroups of G are regular in the negative Weyl chamber.This property of the local coefficients Cψwould be a consequence of Shahidi’s tempered L-function conjecture[Sh2,7.1], which is now known in most cases[K].Nevertheless,the result that we actually need may be weaker(in particular,we do not need to consider each component r i of the adjoint representation r separately).So it may be possible to show it independently of the tempered L-function conjecture(see the remark in1.6).Our conditional proof of the standard module conjecture follows the method developed in[M],[M1],but using the description of the supercuspidal support of a discrete series representation of G given in[H1].The second named author would like to thank the Alexander von Humboldt-foundation for their generous grant helping me to stay in Berlin and complete this work.1.Let P=MU be a standard F-parabolic subgroup of G and(π,V)an ir-reducibleψ-generic admissible representation of M.The parabolic subgroup of G which is opposite to P will be denoted U.The set of reduced roots of T M in Lie(U)will be denotedΣ(P).We will use a superscript G to underline that the corresponding object is defined relative to G.1.1For allνin an open subset of a∗Mwe have an intertwining operator JP πν.Forνin(a∗M)+far away from the walls,it is defined by a convergentintegral(JUv(ug)du.It is meromorphic inνand the map JP|P|Pis scalar.Its inverse equals Harish-Chandra’sµ-function up to a constant and will be denotedµ(π,ν).1.2Put w=w G0w M0.Then wψ(u)λP(ν,π,ψ)(v).Remark that by Rodier’s theorem[R],i G Pπνhas a uniqueψ-generic irreducible sub-quotient.Fix a representative w of w in K.Let t(w)be the map i GP wV,whichsends v to v(w−1·).There is a complex number Cψ(ν,π,w)such thatλ(ν,π,ψ)=STANDARD MODULE CONJECTURE3 Cψ(ν,π,w)λ(wν,wπ,ψ)t(w)J(πν)(resp.λMα(ν,π,ψ))equals the restrictionP∩Mα|P∩Mαof J Mα4V.HEIERMANN AND G.MUI´CProposition:Letπbe an irreducible generic tempered representation of M. know,is that this meromorphic function is holomorphic for s<0.The fact thatσνlies in the supercuspidal support of a discrete series means by the main result of[H1],thatσνis a pole of order rk ss(M)−rk ss(N)of Harish-Chandra’sµ-functionµM.This can be translated somehow to the assertion thatνcorresponds to a distinguished unipotent orbit[H2].So,what remains,is a purely combinatorial problem in the theory of rootal hyperplane configurations, which can be stated independently of representation theory,although its validity may depend on the fact that the labels iαandνcome from a”generic setting”.As, in particular,one does not need here to consider each component r i of the adjoint representation r separately,this result may be weaker than Shahidi’s tempered L-function conjecture.2.In this section we make the following assumption on G(see the remark in 1.5for what we actually need):(TL)If M is a semi-standard Levi subgroup of G and ifπis an irreducible generic tempered representation of M then L(s,π,r i)is regular forℜ(s)>0for every i.We give a proof of the following lemma only for completeness:2.1.Lemma:Let P=MU be a F-standard parabolic subgroup of G andσan irreducible supercuspidal representation of M.If the induced representation i G Pσhas a sub-quotient,which lies in the discrete series of G,then any tempered sub-quotient of i G Pσlies in the discrete series of G.Proof:If i G Pσhas an irreducible sub-quotient,which is square-integrable,thenis by the main result of[H],σis a pole of order rk ss(G)−rk ss(M)ofµandσ|AM unitary.It follows that the central character of i G Pσis unitary,too,which impliesthat the central character of any irreducible sub-quotient of i G Pσis unitary.Inparticular,any essentially tempered irreducible sub-quotient of i G Pσis tempered.So,ifτis an irreducible tempered sub-quotient of i G Pσ,then there is a F-parabolic subgroup P′=M′U′of G and a square-integrable representationσ′of M′,such thatτis a sub-representation of i G P′σ′.The supercuspidal support ofσ′and the W-orbit ofσshare a common elementσ0.By the invariance of Harish-Chandra’sµ-function,σ0is still a pole ofµequal to the order given above.As this order is maximal and the central character ofσ′must be unitary,this implies that M′must be equal to G,and consequentlyτ=σ′is square-integrable.22.2Theorem:Let G be a group that satisfies sub-quotient,which lies in the discrete series of G(resp.is tempered),then any irreducibleψ-generic sub-quotient of i G Pσlies in the discrete series of G(resp.is tempered).Proof:First assume that i G Pσhas a sub-quotient,which lies in the discrete series of G.Let(π,V)be an irreducible,admissibleψ-generic representation of G,which is a sub-quotient of i G Pσ.By the Langlands quotient theorem,there is a standard parabolic subgroup P1=M1U1of G,an irreducible tempered representationτofM1andν∈(a∗M1)+,such thatπis the unique irreducible quotient of i G P1τν.As any representation in the supercuspidal support ofτνmust lie in the super-cuspidal support ofπ,any such representation must be conjugated toσ.So,after conjugation by an element of G,we can assume that M⊆M1and thatτνis asub-representation of i M1P∩M1σ.We will actually show that P1=G,which means thatπis tempered and by2.1 in fact square-integrable.Following1.3,τmust beψ-generic and it is enough to show that Cψ(·,τ,w)has a pole inν,if P1=G.For this we will use the assumption that i G Pσhas an irreducible sub-quotient which is square-integrable.By the main result of[H]this implies thatµhas a pole of order equal to rk ss G−rk ss M inσ.Remark thatµM1can have at most a pole of order rk ss M1−rk ss M inσ.The order of the pole ofµinτνis equal to the one ofµ/µM1inσ.It follows that the order of this pole must be>0,if P1=G.Asµ(τ,·)=Cψ(·,τ,w)Cψ(w(·),wτ,w−1),it follows that either Cψ(·,τ,w)or Cψ(w(·),wτ,w−1)must have a pole inν.As ν∈(a∗M)+,it follows from1.5that Cψ(w(·),wτ,w−1)cannot have a pole inν.So Cψ(·,τ,w)does.This gives us the desired contradiction.Now assume that i G Pσonly has a tempered sub-quotientτ.Then there is a standard parabolic subgroup P1=M1U1of G and a discrete series representationπ1of M1,such thatτis a sub-representation of i G P1π1.As the supercuspidal supportofπ1is contained in the G-conjugacy class ofσ,it follows that there is a standard Levi subgroup M′⊇M,such that i M′P∩M′σhas a discrete series sub-quotient.By what we have just shown,there exists a uniqueψ-generic subquotientπ′of i M′P∩M′σ,which lies in the discrete series.As i G Pσand i G P′π′have each one a unique irreducibleψ-generic sub-quotient and any sub-quotient of i G P′π′is a sub-quotient of i G Pσ,these irreducibleψ-generic sub-quotients must be equal and therefore
