That's because it features Roland's breakthrough Progressive Hammer Action Keyboard with Escapement literally the finest in the world with the genuine touch and rebound of a grand piano. It feels just like you're striking real strings, and all the delicate nuances shine through. And that's not all. It also boasts an impressive "touch variation" design with a heavier touch in the lower range and a lighter touch in the upper.
Highly expressive sounds and 128-note polyphony
What do you feel like playing? With the KR-577, the answer can be literally anything you want . That's because of a full palette of 607 instrument sounds that conform to the latest global GM2/GS format. There are a variety of newly sampled stereo piano sounds with improved "spacious" tonal character and dynamic range. You can even customize them to your liking. Stringed, wind and synth instruments of every kind, and percussion from all over the world are also at your beck and call. Special "EX" tones including sax and guitar have enhanced expressive capability. The newly developed sounds and Music Styles make the backing rhythm as well as your total performance more realistic than ever. A maximum 128 notes of polyphony means that even the most complex of piano passages will be reproduced exactly as you play them even while a fully orchestrated backing accompaniment is playing.
Impressive real-time performance functions
The KR-577 has a wide variety of features that greatly expand your practicing and performance options. These include fresh Musical Styles with practically every type of music you can imagine from simple piano-oriented styles to rock groups and jazz ensembles to full orchestrated big bands. And if you want to sing karaoke, simply plug a microphone into the KR-577 and go for it! A Vocal Count In function recognizes a "1-2-3-4" count down and then starts the music automatically at the actual speed that you count! While you're singing karaoke, you can add special vocal effects like automatic harmonies or "Transformer" to change the gender of your voice and more! Score Display feature, User Memory and more If you're learning to read music, you'll appreciate the Score Display feature; after recording your performance, the notation will display on the screen. It also helps you out when composing and arranging using the on-board multitrack recorder, as it displays your musical sequences. And if you load commercially available SMF song files into the KR-577, the notation for the various instrument parts will display on the screen as well as lyrics too, to help with those impromptu karaoke performances. With its internal User Memory, you can load a variety of songs into the KR-577, eliminating the need to keep changing floppy disks as you record or practice. The songs will be retained in memory even when you turn the power off. What's more, you can mute an instrument part of the SMF files playback so you can play that part yourself along with the rest of backing great for ensemble practice sessions. To top it all off, there are digital effects, too, including an Advanced 3D "surround" sound function that simulates the natural excitement and spaciousness of a live on-stage performance. An elegant cabinet that actually improves the sound The KR-577's cabinet design and construction are as important to the overall sound quality as that of an acoustic piano. As such, the speakers are mounted in such a way as to work in combination with natural vibrations. A special opening in the rear of the cabinet allows the sound to project uniformly, to deliver an expansive, spatial stereo sound regardless of the listener's position.
