VSAP configuration workflow
Overview
VSAP consists of three web-based applications that can be used to monitor and test your
data center network. The VSAP applications are extensions of the5620SAM and5650
CPAM products, which provide the framework for NE discovery and management.
During5620SAM installation, you can enable a Nuage flag that rebrands these three
applications as VSAP applications with Nuage logos. If you did not enable this option, the
applications appear as5620SAM applications with Alcatel-Lucent logos. ...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

After installing the 5620SAM,you must perform some configuration in the 5620SAM
Java UI before you can proceed with the VSAP applications. These steps are explained in
the workflow in this guide. You should need to perform these steps only once, but you
may need to revisit them if you make network changes, such as adding new network
elements.
The following workflow provides a high-level overview of the steps required to set up
your DC network and configure VSAP applications after 5620SAM installation. Each
step provides a link to another section that provides more information about the required
actions.
The workflow defines the steps to do the following:

discover and commission the network elements in your network •
create the management entities required to manage your network with the VSAP applications •
enable underlay route testing in the Service Navigator application •enable statistics collection in the Service Navigator and Inventory Management applications
Steps

Nuage installation flag
Before performing any post-installation actions, you should ensure that the 5620SAM
has been installed with the Nuage flag enabled.See the 5620SAM Installation and
Upgrade Guide for more information about 5620SAM installation.
The Nuage installation flag customizes the application layout and access rights for VSAP
users. The following actions are automatically performed by the 5620SAM if the Nuage
flag is enabled during installation:

Alcatel-Lucent branding is replaced with Nuage branding.•
5620SAM naming is replaced with VSAP naming.•
The application dashboard lists only the three VSAP applications.•The default admin user access rights are limited to only the three VSAP applications.
To rebrand the applications, you must specify an option when you open the 5620SAM
server installer,as shown in the following command example:
#./ServerInstall_RHEL_SAM_R_r_revision.bin -DNUAGE=true
where
R_r is the release identifier,in the form MAJOR_minor
revision is the revision identifier, such as R1,R3,or another descriptor

Device discovery
Before you can monitor virtual network objects or virtualized services in the VSAP
applications, you must discover all associated network elements in your DC network
using the 5620SAM.The 5620SAM supports the discovery and management of the
7850VSG,7850VSA,and standalone VSC.The discovery and provisioning of data
center devices is streamlined and accelerated using discovery rules,auto-provisioning,
and scripted post-discovery actions.
The 5620SAM also supports discovery of other Alcatel-Lucent devices (such as 7701
CPAA)and generic NEs.Discovery and management workflows for the 7850VSG and
its variants is similar to that of other SROS-based devices.
Table 1-1provides the reference material for each NE you discover. These references
include procedures for device discovery and initial configuration.

Administrative domains
An administrative domain is a user-configured grouping that represents a logical routed
network. The VSAP applications support IGP administrative domains and BGP AS
administrative domains.
See the “7701CPAA under 5620SAM management”section in the 5650CP AM User
Guide for more information about administrative domains.
IGP administrative domains
An IGP administrative domain is a routed network with OSPF,ISIS,or both protocols
running. There can be only one backbone domain for each protocol.A 7701CPAA that is
configured with an IGP role is assigned to each IGP administrative domain.
See the “To configure an IGP administrative domain”procedure in the 5650CP AM User
Guide for more information about configuring an IGP administrative domain.

BGP AS administrative domains
A BGP AS administrative domain is an administrative domain that represents the standard
BGP AS,confederation AS,or sub-AS.A BGP confederation AS administrative domain
contains other BGP sub-ASs.A7701CPAA that is configured with a BGP role must be
assigned to each BGP AS administrative domain.Each7701CPAA can be assigned to
only one BGP AS administrative domain.
See the“To create a BGP standard AS”procedure in the5650CP AM User Guide for
more information about configuring a BGP AS.
Data center management in the5620SAM
The data center is the management object that the VSAP applications use to group
network elements in a DC network. You must create a data center object and assign your
NEs to it before you can manage your data center in the VSAP applications. One data
center object is automatically created during5620SAM installation.
T o configure a data center
Perform this procedure to configure a data center manager and assign your NEs to it.
...................................................................................................................................................................................................
1From the5620SAM navigation tree, choose Cloud Network from the view selector.
...................................................................................................................................................................................................
2Right-click on the Cloud Network and choose Create Data Center. The Data Center (Create)form opens.
...................................................................................................................................................................................................
3Configure the parameters on the General tab,as required.
The General tab displays general identification information for the data center, such as
name,description,and location.
...................................................................................................................................................................................................
4Click on the Contact Information tab and assign a contact information profile.
The Contact Information tab lists the contact information profiles assigned to the data
center.Contact information profiles list the name, phone number, email, and other
information related to the associated contact. You can assign an existing contact
information profile to the data center,or create a new one.
...................................................................................................................................................................................................
5Click Apply to save your changes.
...................................................................................................................................................................................................
6Click on the Network Elements tab.
...................................................................................................................................................................................................
7Click on Assign Sites. The Assign filter form opens.
The Assign Filter form allows you to filter all available network elements based on
designated criteria. You can filter on more than one parameter at once.If you assign no
filter criteria, all available network elements are listed.
...................................................................................................................................................................................................
8Click OK to view the filtered list of network elements.
...................................................................................................................................................................................................
9Select network elements from the Unassigned Sites or Assigned Sites panels and use the
arrow buttons to move them,as required.
...................................................................................................................................................................................................
10Save your changes and close the forms.
Mediation policies
The 5620SAM uses a mediation security policy to define the network security model and
communication protocols used to discover and manage NEs for 5620SAM users. The
policy specifies the SNMP,CLI,and file transfer settings, and the credentials for security
functions.
Before you can perform underlay tests in the VSAP Service Navigator application, you
must update the default SNMP mediation policy for CLI access.
See the “To configure device mediation”procedure in the 5620SAM User Guide for more
information about configuring the default mediation policy.
Nuage OAM System script bundle
Before you can perform underlay tests in the VSAP Service Navigator application, you
must create the Nuage OAM System script bundle in the 5620SAM.The Nuage OAM
System script bundle includes the control script and CLI script used to execute the OAM
ping test between two V-Ports.The script is included as an example script from which
you can create an underlay test script bundle.
See the "Sample underlay test for a virtualized service”section in the 5620SAM Nuage
Virtualization Solutions Guide for more information about the Nuage OAM System script
bundle.

...................................................................................................................................................................................................
6Save your changes and close the form.
Statistics collection
You can use the VSAP Service Navigator application to view interface statistics using the
BGP map. Before you can use this feature, you must enable IP interface statistics
collection on routing interfaces for all TiMetra (for example,7750SR,7850VSG,or
standalone VSC)and generic NEs on which you need to collect statistics. You can enable
IP interface statistics collection by configuring the MIB entry policy associated with the
statistics class on the routing interface.
See the “Performance statistics collection”chapter in the 5620SAM Statistics
Management Guide for more information about MIB entry policies.
T o enable IP interface statistics collection on a routing interface
Perform this procedure to enable IP interface statistics collection on a TiMetra or generic
NE.
