数词I.定义与分类数词是指表示数目多少或顺序先后的词。

表示数目多少的数词叫基数词,如one, five, ten, thirty, sixty-five 等;表示顺序先后的数词叫序数词,如first, sixth, tenth, twenty-first 等。

数词用法相当于名词和形容词,在句中可用作主语、宾语、表语、定语、同位语等。

II. 基数词1. 英语中没有“万”这个读数单位,要表示汉语中的“万”,英语需借用thousand一词,如“一万”用“十个千”表示(ten thousand),“十万”用“一百个千”表示(one hundred thousand)。

2. 用作基数词单位的hundred, thousand, million, billion 通常不带复数词尾-s,但若用于表示数百、数千、数百万这样的泛指,则用复数。

如:About two thousand people died in the earthquake. 大约有两千人在地震中丧生。

Thousands of people go to the seaside every year. 每年成千上万的人到海滨去。

3. 表示整十的基数词用复数形式可以表示人的大约岁数或年代。

如:He is in his early twenties. 他才二十出头(from 。

This took place in the 1930s. 这事发生在20世纪30年代。

III. 序数词1. 许多序数词是由相应的基数词后加词尾-th构成的,如four / fourth,six / sixth,ten / tenth,sixteen / sixteenth,但是nine变为序数词是ninth,而不是nineth。

2. twentieth, thirtieth, fortieth 等表示整十的序数词,由相应的基数词将词尾y改为ie,再加-th 构成。

3. first, second, third 通常可缩写为1st, 2nd, 3rd。

知识梳理:提纲挈领,抓住重点和难点!一、基数词的构成1.1-12的基数词是独立的单词,即:one,two,three,four,five,six,seven,eight,nine,ten,eleven,twelve。

2.13-19的基数词以-teen结尾。

如:fourteen,seventeen等,但13,15,18较特殊,13-thirteen 15-fifteen 18-eighteen。

3.20-90的整十位均以-ty结尾。

如:sixty,ninety,但20,30,40,50,80较特殊,20-twenty 30-thirty 40-forty 50-fifty 80-eighty。

4.十位数与个位数之间要加连字符号"-",如:28-twenty-eight,96-ninety-six。

为序数词时,有特别之处。

1.one--- first, two --- second, three --- third, five --- fifth, nice --- ninth, twelve --- twelfth2. 以ty 结尾的单词,要先变y为I, 在加-eth. 例如:thirty ---thirtieth, fifty ---fiftieth3. 以one, two, three 等结尾的多位数词,要将各位数变成序数词。

例如:twenty-one --- twenty-first, one hundred and one --- one hundred and first注意:序数词前常用定冠词,有时还可以用不定冠词a/an 则表示"又一"的意思。

以小时、分种为单位分别读出数字。

6:31读作six thirty-one。

10:26读作ten twenty-six。

14:03 读作fourteen o three 。

16:15 读作sixteen fifteen。

18:30 读作eighteen thirty 23:55 读作twenty-three fifty-five。

注:时刻表上的时间大多采用24小时表示法,这样就不需要用a.m.表示上午,p.m.表示下午了。

表达年月A. 世纪可以用定冠词加序数词加世纪century表示,也可以用定冠词加百位进数加/’s表示 the sixth(6th)century 公元六世纪。

表示数目多少的数词叫基数词;表示顺序的数词叫序数词。

(二)基数词的表示法1、1—12的基数词是独立的单词:one,two,three,four,five,six,seven,eight,nine,ten,eleven,twelve2、13—19的基数词以-teen结尾fourteen,seventeen等,但13,15,18较特殊,13—thirteen 15—fifteen 18—eighteen。

②twentieth, thirtieth, fortieth 等表示整十的序数词,由相应的基数词将词尾y改为ie,再加th 构成。

③first, second, third 通常可缩写为1st, 2nd, 3rd。

凡是以th结尾的序数词可缩写为“基数词+th”:4th, 5th, 9th, 11th, 60th, 128th等。

2.非整十的多位数,将个位数变成序数词即可:twenty-first(第21),ninety-ninth(第99),three hundred and sixty-fifth(第365)等。

②有些习语中的序数词前没有冠词:at first首次first of all 首先不at first sight 次first③但若序数词前用了物主代词或名词所有格,则不能再用定冠词:his second wife 他的第二个妻子Tom’s third book 汤姆的第三本书b. 序数词前有时可用不定冠词,表示次第在原有基础上的增加:A second student stood up. 又一个(第二个)学生站了起来。

I want to read the book a third time. 这本书我想读第三次。

序数词前用定冠词和不定冠词的区别在于,定冠词表特指,不定冠词表泛指I like the third girl. 我喜欢第三个女孩。

(至少有三个女孩供选择,特指)I saw a third girl. 我又看见了第三个女孩。

(暗示原来已看见两个,这已是第三个) (四)分数和百分数1. 分数(1)分数的分子用基数词,分母用序数词。

one fifth五分之一one tenth十分之一(2)当分子大于1时,分母用序数词的复数。

two thirds三分之二five eighths八分之五(3)当分子是1时,可以用one也可以用a.如:a second = one second a third = one third(4)当分母是2和4时,分别可以用half和quarter代替。

a half二分之一three quarters四分之三2. 百分数百分数用percent表示。

forty percent百分之四十(40%)three percent百分之三(3%)3. 分数、百分数与主谓一致分数、百分数的考查往往和主谓一致相联系。

当分数、百分数修饰可数名词的复数时,谓语动词用复数形式;当分数、百分数修饰不可数名词时,谓语动词用单数形式。

如:Eighty percent of the students in our school come from Henan.我们学校百分之八十的学生来自河南。

Three fourths of the students in my class are interested in English.我们班四分之三的学生对英语感兴趣。

Two thirds of the water on the earth is sea water.地球上三分之二的水是海水。

(五)倍数的表示法1. 表示“几倍大小(长短;数量)”,由“倍数+ the size(length,amount……)”结构组成。

如:The earth is forth-nine times the size of the moon.2. 表示“……比……大几倍”,由“倍数+形容词(副词)比较级+ than +被比较部分”结构组成。

如:This box is three times bigger than that one.3. 表示“……是……倍”,由“倍数+ as +形容词+ as +被比较部分”结构组成。
