My Amazing Summer Vacation
Wow, this summer was just the best ever! I had so much fun and did a ton of cool stuff. Let me tell you all about it!
It started off with a bang when my parents surprised me and my little brother Tommy by taking us to an awesome waterpark called Splashville for the first few days of vacation. They have the craziest water slides there! My favorite was the Tubeblaster 3000 - it's this super long, winding tunnel slide where you go insanely fast on a little raft. I must have gone on it like 20 times! Tommy was too short to ride that one, but he loved the Kiddie Pools area with all the smaller slides and splash pads. We stayed at the waterpark pretty much all day, from opening until closing, and just had a blast.
After those first few days of waterpark fun, we went to visit my grandparents who live on a farm out in the country. I always love going there because they have so many cool animals! Grandpa let me help feed the chickens, cows, and horses. He
even let me ride one of the horses named Butterscotch. That was my first time riding a real live horse - it was both scary and exciting! The chickens were probably my favorite though. Grandma showed me how to collect the eggs they laid. I helped gather like two dozen eggs from their coop. Pretty neat!
While we were at my grandparents' farm, we took a little day trip to this place called Pioneer Village. It's basically a whole little town set up to look like it was from the 1800s, with old-timey buildings, costumes, activities and everything. We got to see what schoolhouses were like back then, with the tiny wooden desks and chalk slates instead of modern schools today. We watched some cool demonstrations too, like blacksmithing, candle-making, and spinning wool. For lunch we had the most delicious chicken pot pies cooked in a vintage cast iron stove. That night we camped out in a teepee and roasted marshmallows over the campfire. So fun!
A couple weeks later, my family went on a big hiking trip in the mountains. We drove a few hours from home to this huge national park full of gorgeous forests, valleys, waterfalls and rivers. Our cabin was right at the base of the tallest mountain peak. Day one, we did a pretty easy hike along a stream to this swimming hole with freezing cold water that felt so refreshing in
the summer heat. The next couple days were more challenging with long, steep hikes to panoramic viewpoints looking out over the valleys below. As hard as the uphill climbs were, it was 100% worth it to be able to see those breathtaking views! We saw so much cool wildlife too - chipmunks, squirrels, deer, and even a black bear from a safe distance. On our last day, we went whitewater rafting down this raging river. That was definitely the biggest adrenaline rush of the trip! Our guide had us paddling hard and navigating through all these gnarly rapids sections. We got drenched from the massive waves splashing over the raft, but it was a riot. What an epic trip.
Towards the end of the summer, my parents sent me to this awesome two-week overnight camp I go to every year called Camp Greylock. I've made so many great friends there over the years from all over the country. We stay in these cool log cabin villages divided up by age groups. Every day we got to pick different awesome activities like climbing wall, archery, kayaking, horseback riding, zip lining, arts and crafts, and more. The zipline was probably my favorite - soaring over the trees and lake was such an incredible feeling! In the evenings we had all-camp events like talent shows, dances, and campfires with s'mores and singing silly songs. On the last night, they did this giant fireworks
show over the lake that was flat-out amazing. I'm definitely going back again next summer if my parents let me!
So yeah, that pretty much sums up my awesome summer. Of course I also spent a bunch of time just hanging out with my friends in the neighborhood riding bikes, having sleepovers, seeing movies, swimming at the local pool and all that regular summer stuff. But those bigger trips and activities I mentioned were definitely the highlights. This was one summer vacation I'll never forget! Being back at school now is such a bummer after that much freedom and fun. Thank goodness it will be time for winter break before too long. Although I guess that just means being trapped inside...maybe summer isn't so bad after all! Anyway, I can't wait to make more amazing memories next summer.

My Awesome Summer Vacation
Hi everyone! My name is Lily and I'm going to tell you all about my totally awesome summer vacation this year. It was so much fun and I had the best time ever!
The vacation started right after school let out in June. My parents had planned a huge surprise trip for our whole family.
On the first day of vacation, we all piled into the car and my dad was like "Let's go on an adventure!" I was super excited but had no idea where we were going.
After driving for what felt like forever, we finally arrived at the airport! That's when my parents told us we were going to Hawaii for 2 whole weeks. I had never been on an airplane before, so I was a little nervous but mostly really thrilled. The flight seemed to take another forever, but I didn't mind because I got to watch movies and eat snacks the whole time.
When we finally landed in Hawaii, it was absolutely beautiful! The second we stepped off the plane, we could feel the warm breeze and smell the ocean air. Our hotel was right on the beach too. The first few days we spent just relaxing on the sandy shores, swimming in the crystal blue waters, and soaking up the Hawaiian sun.
Then the real fun activities started! One day we went on this awesome snorkeling expedition. We had to take a boat out into the middle of the ocean to get to the best snorkeling spot. Putting on all the snorkeling gear was funny looking, but then we got to swim around and see tons of colorful fish and coral up close. It was like being in the middle of an animated movie!
Another day, we went on a long kayaking tour around the island. We paddled for miles, stopping along the way to explore little coves and inlets. The ocean was so calm and peaceful that we even saw some sea turtles swimming beside our kayaks at one point! Our guide taught us all about the plants and wildlife that are native to Hawaii too.
My absolute favorite activity though was when we went on a helicopter tour of the whole island. We got to fly over everything - beaches, forests, waterfalls, volcanoes, and more. The views from up in the air were just breathtaking. The pilot even let me sit up front for part of the ride which was super cool. Seeing Hawaii from that perspective was an experience I'll never forget.
On the last few days of our trip, we spent more time just hanging out and relaxing at the beach and pool areas of our hotel. We went boogie boarding, built massive sandcastles, and I even learned how to do a little hula dancing which was hilarious. We ate tons of Hawaiian food too like poke bowls, kalua pork, and haupia coconut pudding. It was all so delicious!
Eventually though, the vacation had to come to an end. We were all really sad to leave Hawaii behind, but we made so many amazing memories that will last forever. I'll never forget things like watching the sunset while eating shave ice, playing in the
warm ocean waves, or seeing dolphins swimming just off the coast. It was definitely the best summer trip ever!
Now that I'm back home, I've been spending my time hanging out with friends, riding my bike around the neighborhood, and getting ready to go back to school soon. Part of me wishes summer would never end and that I could just stay on vacation in Hawaii forever! But I know I have an exciting new school year ahead of me, with new teachers, new subjects to learn, and new adventures to look forward to.
I feel so lucky that my parents took us on such an incredible trip to Hawaii this summer. It's a vacation I'll never forget! If you ever get the chance to go there, you absolutely should. From the beautiful beaches to the amazing activities, Hawaii has something for everybody. Just don't forget to pack your sunscreen! Thanks for reading about my awesome summer, and I can't wait to make more fun memories this upcoming school year. See you soon!

My Summer Vacation
Yay! Summer is finally here! No more school for a whole three months. During the summer, I got to do so many fun
things. I went on a trip with my family, had sleepovers with my best friends, and pretty much did whatever I wanted all day long. It was the best!
The first few weeks, my family went on an awesome road trip. We drove up north to visit my grandparents in a small town called Oak Grove. The drive took forever, but it was still really cool. I got to see so much pretty nature out the car window - mountains, rivers, forests and all that good stuff.
When we got to my grandparents' house, it was like stepping back in time. Their little town is super old-fashioned with brick buildings, farmer's markets, and friendly people who smile and wave as you walk down the street. My grandparents live in this cute little blue house on Maple Lane. It has a big yard with a garden, bird feeders, and a hammock to relax in. So nice and peaceful!
My grandma and grandpa were really excited to see us. Grandma gave us all big hugs and had baked fresh chocolate chip cookies for when we arrived. Yum! Then Grandpa took me and my little brother fishing down at the creek behind their house. We caught a whole bunch of fish and brought them home for Grandma to fry up for dinner. I tried baiting the hook myself
for the first time. It was kinda gross pulling the worm out of the container, but also kinda fun!
We stayed at my grandparents' place for about a week. During that time, we did all sorts of classic summer activities together. We had picnics in the park, went strawberry picking at a local farm, and walked down to the general store for ice cream cones. Grandpa taught me how to skip rocks across the pond and everything! He's been doing it since he was a kid, so he's a total pro. I'm getting better at it but still not as good as Grandpa yet.
One of the biggest highlights was going to the county fair while we were visiting. Oh man, the fair was crazy fun! There were all these bright colorful lights, loud music, and the most delicious smells coming from the food stands. My brother and I went on every single ride, from the Tilt-A-Whirl to the giant Ferris wheel. We even rode the terrifying Zipper where you get spinning around really fast and upside down. I screamed my head off but it was such a thrill! After the rides, we played tons of game booths like the basketball toss, balloon darts, and the strong man hammer strike. I didn't win any prizes, but it was still a blast trying. Then we stuffed ourselves silly with cotton candy,
funnel cakes, caramel apples and anything else covered in sugar. What a sugar rush! The whole fair was just pure awesomeness.
After our trip to Oak Grove, we came back home and I invited my two best friends over for a few sleepovers. Julia, Zoe and I have been besties since kindergarten. We did all our classic sleepover things - staying up late watching movies, giving each other makeovers, prank calling cute boys, and gorging on pizza and candy. So much giggling! One night we stayed up practically all night just talking and playing truth or dare. We asked each other those deep, important questions like "Who's your crush?" and "What's the meanest thing you've ever done?" Haha we laughed so hard that night.
Another sleepover, we had an awesome pillow fight that started out chill but got pretty intense after a while. Feathers were flying everywhere! We kept whacking each other over the head until we were all worn out. My room looked like a tornado hit it when we finished. Totally worth the mess though!
For the last couple weeks of summer, I went to day camp at the community center. We did all sorts of activities like swimming, arts and crafts, sports, coding classes, you name it. My favorite part was playing capture the flag during outdoor camp. Our counselors divided us into two teams and gave us
bandanas to wear - either blue or red. Then we had to chase each other around the woods, trying to sneak into the other team's territory and capture their flag without getting tagged and sent to "prison." So much running, hiding behind trees, and being very sneaky and quiet. I definitely got my exercise in for the day, but it was a total blast!
Now that I'm thinking about it, this was probably my best summer ever. I made so many wonderful memories with my family and friends. From fishing with Grandpa to rocking out at the county fair to epic sleepover nights, it was non-stop fun and adventure. I got to act like a total kid without any rules or responsibilities for three amazing months. No boring schoolwork, just pure freedom and good times!
Sadly, those lazy days of summer are coming to an end now. School is starting back up in just a couple weeks. Part of me is excited to see my friends again and start learning new things. But another part of me is really going to miss the freedom and silliness of summer break. Saying goodbye to staying up late, sleeping in, and doing whatever I want each day is going to be tough.
Oh well, I guess that's just how it goes. Everything good must come to an end eventually, right? At least I have these
awesome summer memories to look back on. And you know what? There's always next summer to look forward to! I'll get to make a whole new bunch of fun memories then. For now, I better start mentally preparing myself to become a focused,
hard-working student again. Goodbye summer, hello 6th grade!

My Amazing Summer Vacation
Wow, this summer was the best ever! I had so much fun and did a bunch of really cool things. Let me tell you all about it!
It started right after school got out in June. My parents said we were going to take an amazing trip to Canada! I was super excited because I had never been out of the country before. We drove up to Vancouver and stayed in a hotel right downtown. The city was huge with all these massive skyscrapers everywhere. It felt like I was in a totally different world!
The first couple days we just explored around Vancouver. We went to this awesome science museum called Science World. It had all these interactive exhibits that were so neat. My favorite was the virtual reality experience where we got to walk on the moon! We also went up to the top of the Vancouver Lookout
tower and could see the whole city below us. It was a little scary being up so high, but the view was breathtaking.
Then we drove out to Whistler, which is this big ski resort area a couple hours away. Even though it was summer, there was still snow on the mountains! We went hiking and saw some amazing waterfalls and lakes. The best part was when we went on the Peak 2 Peak Gondola ride between two mountain peaks. Hanging in the air with the peaks soaring up beside us was a little scary at first, but I got used to it and the views were just spectacular.
After Whistler, we headed over to Vancouver Island to do some camping for a few days. We stayed at a campground right on the ocean in Tofino. I loved falling asleep every night to the sound of the waves crashing on the beach. During the days we went tidepooling, which is when you walk along the shore during low tide and look in all the little pools for sea creatures. We found tons of neat starfish, crabs, and other critters!
One of the highlights was when we went on a whale watching tour by boat. The guide said we were pretty much guaranteed to see whales since it was peak season. Well, she was right - we ended up seeing three different pods of gray whales! Seeing those massive whales surface just a few hundred feet
from our boat was amazing. Some even did tricks where they breached the water fully. I'll never forget that experience.
On another day, we went kayaking along the coast. Even though I was a little nervous about tipping over at first, our guide helped me get the hang of it. We paddled along the shoreline and even went into some cool sea caves with narrow entrances. I felt like a little explorer! Kayaking ended up being one of my favorite parts of the whole trip.
After camping, we headed inland to the city of Victoria, which is the capital of British Columbia. We visited their amazing Butchart Gardens, which had just about every type of flower and plant you can imagine all arranged in these intricate gardens. The rose garden was my favorite - the smell was heavenly! We also toured some historic spots like Craigdarroch Castle.
Our last stop was taking the ferry back over to Vancouver. On the ferry ride, we were lucky enough to see a pod of orcas swim right alongside the boat! I had never seen killer whales in the wild before. They were spectacular animals.
Once we made it back to Vancouver, we spent our last couple days doing typical city touristy stuff. We walked around the harbors and parks, went up more observation towers, and
did lots of fun shopping. I bought a bunch of souvenirs for my friends and family back home.
Finally, after two amazing weeks, it was time to make the long drive back home to Spokane. I didn't want the vacation to end! That trip to Canada was easily one of the best times of my entire life so far. I made so many incredible memories that I'll never forget.
I'm already counting down the days until our next big summer trip. My parents said we might go to Alaska next year, which would be another new adventure. Or maybe we'll head down to California to see places like Hollywood and Disneyland. Wherever we go, I know it's going to be another unforgettable experience!
Vacations like this remind me how amazing the world is and how many awesome places there are to explore. I feel so lucky and grateful that my parents are willing and able to take me on these journeys to expand my horizons. It makes me want to keep learning, traveling, and experiencing new things. Who knows what the future holds? I just know it's going to be an epic adventure!

My Amazing Summer Vacation
This summer was the best ever! I had so much fun and went on so many adventures. First, my family went on a big trip to Hainan Island for two weeks. We stayed in a really cool resort right on the beach. Every morning I would wake up, have a yummy breakfast, and then run straight into the ocean to swim and play in the waves. The water was so refreshingly cool and clear blue. I spent hours splashing around, floating on my back, and building sandcastles on the shore.
In the afternoons, we would go exploring around the island. One day, we hiked through a tropical rainforest full of huge trees, colorful birds, and cute little monkeys swinging from branch to branch. I tried some fresh coconut water straight from a coconut and it was so delicious and refreshing after the hot hike. Another day, we went on a boat tour to see the smaller islands off the coast. We got to snorkel and see tons of beautiful fish and coral reefs. I even saw a sea turtle swimming gracefully through the water!
Back at the resort in the evenings, we had lots of fun too. They had a big pool area with a lazy river, water slides, and a swim-up bar (though I couldn't have any drinks there of course!). My brother and I spent several nights splashing around in the
pools until our fingers were all pruney. We also played mini-golf, ping-pong, and other games they had set up. And the resort put on shows and activities for kids like me every night - my favorite was the magic show with mind-blowing illusions and tricks.
After our amazing beach vacation on Hainan, we went to visit my grandparents who live in a small town a few hours away. It was great to see them again and fun to run around outside and play in their big yard. Grandma taught me how to make zongzi and other yummy treats in their kitchen. And Grandpa took me fishing down at the little lake - I even caught a couple little fish! We had a fish fry with our catch and it was so tasty.
On the way home from Grandma and Grandpa's house, we stopped for a night in a big city I had never been to before. My dad's friend lived there and showed us around all the best spots. We went up to the top of a really tall skyscraper and could see the whole city laid out below us. That night, we wandered through the neon lights of a lively night market stuffed with tons of food stalls, games, performers, and little shops. I tried squid on a stick, stinky tofu, and other crazy snacks. We didn't get back to our hotel until after midnight because there was just so much to see and do!
When we finally made it back home after our huge summer trip, I was tired but so happy from all the incredible memories. I got to see and do so many new things - playing on beautiful beaches, hiking through forests, swimming with fish, visiting family, and exploring a huge city. I took so many photos and videos to remember it all. My summer stretched my horizons and opened my eyes to the great big world out there just waiting to be discovered. I'm already dreaming about where we'll go next summer and what other amazing adventures I'll get to have! For now though, it's back to school and studies. But you can bet I'll be daydreaming about pristine beaches, coral reefs, and night markets when things get too boring in class!

My Summer Vacation Adventures
Wow, this summer was the best ever! I had so much fun and went on amazing adventures. I can't wait to tell you all about it.
It started right after school let out in June. My parents said we were going to take a big trip this year to celebrate me finishing elementary school. I was super excited when they told me we were going to China! I had learned a little bit about China in school, like that it's a huge country on the other side of the
world and they have this really old amazing culture and history. But I didn't know much more than that.
We flew on a huge airplane for what felt like forever to get to Beijing, the capital city. When we landed, everything just looked and felt so different from home. The writing on signs was in these cool looking characters I had never seen before. And there were skyscrapers and buildings everywhere, with tons of people walking around.
Our first stop was Tiananmen Square, which is this massive open plaza in the center of Beijing. Our tour guide told us it's one of the biggest public squares in the world and super important in Chinese history and culture. We took a ton of pictures in front of the huge portrait of Mao Zedong hanging there. That guy kind of freaked me out to be honest.
Next we visited the Forbidden City, which is this incredible palace complex right next to Tiananmen Square. It has something like 9,000 rooms inside! We wandered through the courtyards and halls learning about how the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties lived there hundreds of years ago. My favorite part was the Imperial Garden - it was so beautiful and peaceful.
After a few days exploring Beijing, we took a bus out to the Great Wall of China. Let me tell you, that thing is HUGE! It just keeps going up and down the mountains as far as you can see. We had to climb up tons of steep steps, but it was worth it for the amazing views. Our guide said the wall is over 5,500 miles long in total - I can't even imagine how long it must have taken to build something that massive.
From Beijing, we took an incredibly fast bullet train to Xi'an, which is in central China. This was one of my favorite cities on the trip. Xi'an is where the world-famous Terracotta Warriors were discovered - they're these life-size soldier statues buried with China's first emperor over 2,000 years ago to protect him in the afterlife. Each warrior statue is different and there are thousands of them! It was mind-blowing seeing them all lined up in these massive pits.
We also visited the Muslim Quarter in Xi'an, which is this vibrant neighborhood full of mosques, markets, and the most delicious food stalls. I tried so many new and tasty dishes like lamb kebabs, flatbread, and these amazing meat sandwiches. I don't think I've ever eaten that much in my life!
Our last stop was Shanghai, which is this incredibly modern and glitzy city on the eastern coast. The skyline at night was
stunning, with bright lights and skyscrapers reflecting on the river. We spent a whole day wandering around the Bund waterfront area, which had British colonial buildings on one side and ultra modern towers on the other side.
We also went up to the top of the Shanghai Tower, which is the second tallest building in the world. The views from up there were insane - you could see the entire city stretching out in every direction. I felt so small looking out over the vast urban landscape.
My favorite part of Shanghai was the Shanghai Disneyland park though. We spent two full days riding every roller coaster and meeting characters like Mickey, Mulan, and the Star Wars gang. I went on the TRON Lightcycle coaster like five times because it was so awesome. Being at Disneyland, but in the middle of this futuristic Chinese city, felt like something from a sci-fi movie.
After two weeks traveling around China, I have to say it was the best trip ever. I learned so much about China's deep history and culture, but also got to experience its modern cities that feel lightyears ahead. The food was out of this world delicious everywhere we went. And we did tons of fun activities like riding the bullet train, exploring palaces, and going to Disneyland.
I'll never forget things like hiking on the Great Wall, seeing the Terracotta Warriors up close, and the jaw-dropping Shanghai skyline at night. China just felt like a total other world compared to my little town. It was all so exciting and different in the best way possible. I have so many amazing memories from this unforgettable summer vacation!。
