老鼠开会
Long ago, there was a big cat in the house. He caught many mice while they were stealing food.
One day the mice had a meeting to talk about the way to deal with their mon enemy. Some said this, and some said that.
At last a young mouse got up, and said that he had a good idea.
"We could tie a bell around the neck of the cat. Then when he es near, we can hear the sound of the bell, and run away."
Everyone approved of this proposal, but an old wise mouse got up and said, "That is all very well, but who will tie the bell to the cat?" The mice looked at each other, but nobody spoke.
老鼠英语故事
There was a city mouse.
从前有一只城市老鼠。

She went to visit her friend in the country.
她去乡下看望她的朋友。

City Mouse had never been to the country before.
城市老鼠从来都没去过乡下。

The grass was green, and the air smelled fresh.
那里的草地绿油油的，空气无比清新。

"I think I will like the country," she thought.
“我会很喜欢乡下的吧！”她想。

Country Mouse served a fine meal.
乡村老鼠准备了一顿大餐。

She thought the food was delicious.
她觉得这食物很美味。

But City Mouse did not agree.
但是城市老鼠却不觉得。

"Country food is different from city food," said City Mouse.
“乡下的食物和城里的食物差太大啦，”城市老鼠说，"Come visit me in the city. You will love city food."
“来城里找我吧，你会爱上城里的食物的。

”
"I will visit you soon," said Country Mouse.
“我过几天就去拜访你，”乡村老鼠说，
"But now it is late.
“但是现在很晚啦，
Let me show you your bed in the barn."
我带你去谷仓的小床里睡觉吧。

”
Country Mouse had made her friend a bed in the hay,乡村老鼠为她的朋友在干草堆里做了一张床，
right next to her own.
紧挨着自己。

Country Mouse thought the hay was warm and cozy.
乡村老鼠觉得干草堆又暖和又舒服。

But City Mouse did not agree.
但是城市老鼠却不觉得。

"This feels like pins and needles!" she thought.“这跟睡在针尖儿上似的！”她想，
"How can anyone sleep in hay?"
“干草堆上怎么睡人呢？”
"Come visit me in the city," said City Mouse.
“来城里找我吧，”城市老鼠说，
"You will love city beds."
“你会爱上城里的床的。

”
“I will visit you soon,”said Country Mouse
“我过几天就去拜访你，”乡村老鼠说。

Then she yawned and fell asleep.
说完，她打着呵欠睡着了。

City Mouse could not sleep at all.
城市老鼠却睡不着。

The hay poked her and pinched her all night long.
干草整晚都扎着她呢。

In the morning, City Mouse said good-bye and happily went back to the city.
早晨到了，城市老鼠说完再见就快乐地回到城市里了。

The next month, Country Mouse visited her friend in the city.
第二个月，乡村老鼠来城市里拜访她的朋友了。

The buildings were tall, and the people were busy.
城里的建筑很高，人们都很忙。

"I think I will like the city," thought Country Mouse.“我会很喜欢城市的吧，”乡村老鼠说。

"Come in," said City Mouse.
“请进，”城市老鼠说。

"But please hurry! We have to run."
“但是请动作快一点，我们喜欢奔跑。

”
City Mouse and Country Mouse ran.
城市老鼠和乡村老鼠一起跑着。

Finally, they stopped in a big room.
终于，它们停在了一个大房间前面。

City Mouse waved her arm grandly.
城市老鼠有礼貌地挥了挥手，
"Here we are!" she said.
“到啦！”她说。

Country Mouse looked around her.
乡村老鼠看了看周围。

She had never seen so much food before.
她还从没有见过这么多的食物。

"Have a taste of sugar," said City Mouse.“尝尝糖的味道！”城市老鼠说。

"Mmmm," said Country Mouse, licking her lips.“嗯，”乡村老鼠一边说，一边舔着嘴唇说，
"It is so sweet!"
“真是甜滋滋的！”
"Try some butter," City Mouse said.
“再尝一点黄油吧，”城市老鼠说。

"OH!" said Country Mouse.
“哦！”乡村老鼠说，
"It is so delicious!"
“这也太美味啦！”
The little mouse ate and ate.
于是小老鼠吃了又吃。

She felt like the luckiest mouse in the world!她觉得自己是全世界最幸运的老鼠啦！。
