• One of Stubbs’ most widely recognized works Whistlejacket – George Stubbs
depicts a simple portrait of a horse as it rears up(后腿直立).
• The painting is titled Whistlejacket and was completed in 1762. This work was hailed as one of the most strikingly beautiful works that featured a horse and many art critics noted the crisp detail of the Arabian thoroughbred (纯种马).

The Metropolitan Museum’s introduction to Night-Shining White
A leading horse painter of the Tang dynasty, Han Gan was known for capturing not only the likeness of a horse but also its spirit. This painting, the most famous work attributed to the artist, is a portrait of a charger (战马) of Emperor Xuanzong (r. 712–56). With its burning eye, flaring nostrils(张开的鼻翼), and dancing hoofs, the fiery-tempered horse epitomizes Chinese myths about Central Asian "celestial steeds(天上的骏马)" that "sweated blood" and were actually dragons in disguise(伪装).

The Horse Fair – Rosa Bonheur French painter Rosa Bonheur is known as one of the most famous female artist of her time and typically created works that depict animals or nature settings in great detail. She is remembered as one of the great painters of the 19th century and her ability to capture scenes of animals in motion was unparalleled (绝无仅有的).
