1.“The Road Not Taken”
The speaker stands in the woods, considering a fork in the road. Both ways are equally worn and equally overlaid with un-trodden leaves. The speaker chooses one, telling himself that he will take the other another day. Yet he knows it is unlikely that he will have the opportunity to do so. And he admits that someday in the future he will recreate the scene with a slight twist: He will claim that he took the less-traveled road. Everyone is a traveler, choosing the roads to follow on the map of their continuous journey. There is never a straight path but a sole direction in which to head. It is one's past, present and the attitude with which he looks upon his future that determines the shade of the light.
This poem clearly explained Frost's belief that it is the road that one chooses that makes him the man who he is. It is always difficult to make a decision because it is impossible not to wonder about the opportunity cost, what will be missed out on. It is impossible to travel down every path. The road that will be chosen leads to the unknown, as does any choice in life. As much he may strain his eyes to see as far the road stretches, eventually it surpasses his vision and he can never see where it is going to lead.
It was something that was obviously not for everyone because it seemed that the majority of people took the other path. There is simply a narrator who makes a decision in his life that had changed the direction of his life from what it may have otherwise been. It allows all readers from all different experiences to relate to the poem.
2.“Death of a Salesman”
It's really totally free and clear in the end of the story. I'm deeply depressed and sorrowed. Through the detailed and extensive discussion, it is clear that the goal of exploring the deep social reason of Willy’s confusion and death, that is, the American dream led by Willy and such into both the spiritual and economic dilemma.
T o achieve this, the American dream, Willy’s d is to r te d human relationship and his false selling concept are fully discussed in the body of this paper. The careful study of this paper f inally makes such conclusion: Willy is an ordinary citizen, he supports his dream by his self-image, sunny smile and twinkling leather shoes rather than his successful business. M I i l l e r makes full use o f this image w ithout successful business to show the existential crisis of the whole society a t that time, which is produced by the capitalist materialism based on the economic crisi s—The materialism has covered the truth of the false capitalism, and it has confounded the or ig ina l conce pt o f which is “American Dream”,s o e v e r y o n e misled by this false concept sell their soul and morality for the purpose of being successful.
Willy is both a personal tragedy, but also social, but most importantly, it is also the tragedy of mankind.Willy is difficult to overcome the weaknesses of its own, such as he can not face reality, always choose to avoid facing difficulties. But ,Viewed from another angle, it can be understood as optimistic, progressive, full of longing for a better tomorrow, is this not the typical American character? He would also like to buy seeds, it is not just to buy seeds, that is to buy a hope!。
