In the African country of Malawi, fishing is a way of life for people who live near lakes. Fishing employs over 50,000 people there. Traditionally, the fishers have several methods to dry the fish for the market. They include frying, smoking, or placing them on wire racks (架子). But since the fishers dry their catch in the open air, about half of it slowly breaks down and goes bad. And some animals even try to eat the catch.
Now, solar tents are being used to help dry fish on Lake Chilwa, Malawi’s second-largest lake. The solar tent is made from clear plastic. The plastic is stretched over a large wooden structure. The tent looks like a greenhouse, a glass building where plants can grow in the cold weather.
Jennifer Mussa is a local fish trader. “When we collect fish from the lake, we dry them inside this solar fish dryer,” she said. In the past, it would take one-and-a-half to two days to dry. Now the fishers will put it in the morning; by the evening, they can take the fish out. The solar tents have also helped fish traders get higher prices at the market for cleaner, better-quality fish.
Money for the tents came from Cultivate Africa’s Future. The organization works to improve fishing and farming methods with simple inventions. The goal is to increase access to food, resources, and markets for the communities. The organization also encourages people to use energy-saving kiln ovens (窑炉) to smoke fish, not open fires. Then people can cut down fewer trees for firewood.

30. What does Cultivate Africa’s Future do?

D. It helps people to plant more trees in Africa.
31. What’s the best title of the text?

Wealthy countries are exporting millions of tons of plastic waste to Southeast Asia, where local recycling systems cannot process all of it. Greenpeace and the Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives, or GAIA, studied the issue. Their findings showed that the export of plastic waste is causing widespread pollution problems.
In early 2018, China banned the import of plastic waste for recycling, which threw the international trade in recycled materials into disorder. Greenpeace and GAIA workers gathered information from the top 21 importers and exporters of plastic waste. They looked at the recycling trade before and after the Chinese ban. Over half of the plastics — more than 3 million tons a year — used to go to China. It is now being sent to Southeast Asia. Huge mountains of plastics are growing in Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam, among other countries.
The Malaysian village of Jenjarom is about 50 kilometers away from Kuala Lumpur. Greenpeace workers found huge piles of plastic waste on the ground in the middle of a palm oil farm. Nobody was working to reduce the size of the piles. The writing on the bottles, boxes and plastic bags showed where they came from. Much of the waste traveled thousands of kilometers from Europe and North America.
People are suffering from the waste, said local environmentalist Pua Lay Peng. “They just throw the non-recyclable plastics or the rejected products, and then they burn them in the backyard of these factories. The poisonous smoke has already caused a lot of health problems for our residents (居民).”
Kate Lin, a project leader at Greenpeace, said wealthy countries are simply exporting their waste. They do not follow up what happens after it crosses the border. Many Southeast Asian countries are beginning to restrict the import of plastic waste, which forces the rubbish to go to markets with less control, such as Indonesia and India.
Greenpeace said improving recycling is not the final solution. Instead, the world must severely reduce plastic production and consumption.
32. What did China’s ban in early 2018 lead to?
A. Southeast Asian countries making similar bans.
B. Southeast Asian countries producing less plastic waste.
C. European countries paying more attention to plastic waste.
D. European countries exporting plastic waste to Southeast Asia countries.
33. Why does the author mention Jenjarom?
A. To show the danger of burning plastic waste.
B. To explain how imported plastic waste is dealt with.
C. To show imported plastic waste is harming local people.
D. To encourage local governments to handle plastic better.
34. What does the underlined word “restrict” in Paragraph 5 mean?
A. Fear.
B. Limit.
C. Consider.
D. Increase.
35. How can plastic waste be effectively solved according to Greenpeace?
A. People avoid producing and using plastic products.
B. People recycle plastic products shortly after using them.
C. Developing countries refuse the import of plastic waste.
D. Wealthy countries export plastic waste to developed Asian countries.

According to experts, though, American kids may have picked up a Britishism or two, but the claim that they’re developing a whole accent 61 (base) on a cartoon, is not entirely true. Typically, children develop the accent of the community around them.
62 , it’s possible that kids learn to mimic(模仿) individual words from the show, especially in cases 63 the child doesn’t know the word.
So while some American kids 64 (say) a few words or phrases in British English now, it’s quite 65 (likely) that they would be acquiring an entire second dialect from just watching a TV show.

第二节(满分25分)
阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。
“Ada! Milk!” Mama called.
It was Ada’s turn to get milk. Ada sighed and shut her first-aid book. Her head hurt from reading in the dim morning light, but how else was she going to learn?
Ada tied the cow close to a tree. somewhere down the mountain, Betty ,the village nurse , was learning medical skills from volunteer doctors. Ada heard Betty drive off hours ago. “She should have taken me with her. She thinks I’m too young, but she’s wrong. I am already 16!” Ada thought.
Ada carried the milk back to Mama, then wandered up the road. Roy, a village boy, had gotten a donkey, and some kids had gathered around to see it. Roy was always doing something to get attention. Like now: he was trying to stand on the animal’s bare back.
“No wonder they don’t trust kids with anything important”, Ada thought, sighing. She had just turned away when she heard a thud and a few screams. Roy lay on the ground nearby moaning in pain. The donkey stood several meters away. “Roy!” The kids nearby ran towards him. “Get Betty,” one said. Ada shook her head. “Betty’s gone to the city.” The other kids seemed frozen in place.
Ada ran to where Roy was lying. She dropped to her knees on the dusty road. “Roy! Can you hear me?” Roy moaned in agony. Ada saw that one of his legs bent a little sideways between the knee and the ankle. A broken leg!
She remembered what the first-aid book had said about broken legs: if there is no ambulance, straighten the bone before moving the victim. There certainly wouldn’t be any ambulance here. Ada looked back up the road. The other kids were still standing there, watching. “Victor!” Ada called to one of the boys. “Go get Roy’s mama, and find someone
with a truck.” She turned to the others. “Give me your shirts. We need something to tie
his leg with.”
