Inventions make the world a better place. They play a significant (重要的) role in our lives. Let’s look back at some cool inventions. And what changes will these cool inventions bring to our lives? Let’s take a look.
No-touch thermometer (温度计)
Want to take your temperature? Usually you need to put a thermometer in your arm and stay still for minutes. It may be easy for you, but it’s an impossible task for little kids.
Now, using infrared (红外线的) technology, scientists have invented no touch thermometers. Users can simply put the thermometer 2.5 cm from someone’s forehead. Press the button, and the thermometer can show the reading in two seconds.
A personal air cleaner
Every year, about 6.5 million people die because of air pollution, according to the World Health Organization. Poor air quality has become a big problem in some countries like China and India.
Now a portable (便携式的) air cleaner may help with the
problem. A cleaner, the size of a water bottle can monitor (监测) and clean the air around you. It can help remove dust, smoke, and pollution in the air.
Useful alarm clock
It’s hard to believe that an alarm clock could not only be beautiful, but also improve your sleep. It is not a common alarm clock. It can check the temperature, humidity (湿度) and light in your bedroom to help you create a good sleeping environment. It can also monitor your sleep cycles and wake you up when you’re least likely to feel tired.
Shoes that tie themselves
The new shoes have small motors that control their laces (鞋带). When you step in them, the motors will tighten (系紧) the laces. There are also two buttons on the sides of the shoe. You can tighten and loosen (松开) them so you can control the laces by yourself.
But the shoes weren’t just designed for lazy people. They could make things easier for athletes during competitions. They are also useful for people who cannot move their arms or

It moves very fast. As everyone knows, cities are developing rapidly. There are more and more cars running on the road. So parking space is limited. Sometimes it's hard to find a place to park (停车).Tridika can solve this problem easily because it needn't park on the ground. Actually,it can park on the outside wall of the building with the help of an elevator system (电梯系统).In this way, much parking space can be saved. When Tridika parks itself in front of your apartment, you can get into your room directly. Of course, there must be a side door in the outside wall. Then Tridika becomes another living room. It's really amazing, isn't it?
Tridika can hold six passengers. So you can go on vacation in it with your family in your free time. Of course it can also be used at an office while you are traveling on the road. That is to say, you can travel and work at the same time.

How to know yourself better
Most of us believe we know ourselves better than anyone else in the world. In fact, many people are still strangers to themselves. From now on, know yourself better.
Take a moment to write down the things that you know about yourself — your interests, likes, dislikes, strong points, weak points, hopes, fears, dreams, etc. Think carefully and find out how they affect (影响) your life.
Another way is to take personality and psychological (心理的) tests. By answering the questions, you will understand how you think, make decisions, do things, communicate with
people, live your life, etc.
Pay attention to what your family, friends, teachers and classmates say about you. Sometimes, other people who see you from their points of view can let you really know yourself. Keep on learning about who you are. Every day you will have a new understanding about yourself. Keeping a diary will help you record these new discoveries. I study at a girls' school in Melbourne, Australia. At our school, every student can take part in a yearly art competition called House Chorals.
This year, I joined the instrument team. We decided to play three pieces of music from the dance drama Swan Lake. The team leader first checked to see how many people could play and what instruments we had. There were only a few woodwinds, so he tried to give different parts to each person. And then we practised our parts during the holiday before starting the rehearsals.
The first rehearsal turned out not to be successful. Most of us had no experience of playing in a group. The leader had to keep us playing at the right speed by clapping loudly. After a few rehearsals, we finally sounded like a whole.
The next step was to add more dynamics. Dynamics made music exciting, but they were hard to remember. Although there were some notes on our sheet music, we still did badly. Our leader
told us the story of Swan Lake to help us better understand the music. In the story, a prince falls in love with a princess who has been turned into a swan by a bad person. So when we played the music, which would be heard when the prince planned to marry the princess, we tried to make it sound lively. We used some instruments like drums to create the feeling and practised it again and again.
In the final competition, we stood out and won first place!
I really think it is a great experience.
