Material Analysis
1) This is the Reading & Writing part of Unit 1 which focus on two topics: friends & friendship and interpersonal relationship. The topics are related to students' real life and can provide some insightful ideas about friendship and interpersonal relationship, like what problems may occur when making friends or communicating with others and how to solve these problems. According to the new English Curriculum Standard of Senior High School, the theme context of writing part is 'human and society'. To be more specific, it is interpersonal relationship and social communication.

Therefore, the teacher should utilize students' good cooperation to promote their willingness to express themselves in class. 2) The average English level of the students are upper intermediate. They do well in input tasks like reading, however, their output ability especially writing is relatively weak. So the teacher should put emphasis on how to help students transfer the input to intake and finally students' output. In this class, the teacher should help students effectively construct writing structure and integrate prior knowledge into their writing.

Difficult points: Integrate what they've learnt, such as good sentence patterns and structures, into their writing. Solutions: Teacher will set examples firstly and offer help when students are writing if they need.

Guiding Principle
The design of this class is inspired by Production Oriented Approach proposed and developed by Professor Wen. The production task is mentioned in the beginning of this class and following activities are all designed to complete this production task well, from putting forward ideas and reasons → making sentences → writing paragraphs and passages.
