·Analyze and summarize the structure of the article, and experience the writing way of recording a thing according to the order of time.·According to the key words, retell the examples, and consolidate the expression of the sequence of time questions.
·By asking and reading examples, we can get the main content of the article and understand the role of adjectives in sentences.
Reading
Exercise 1
Purpose: to help students understand the content of a text and answer questions
Read and understand the sample text. Direct students to the photo. Ask “What do you think the story might be about?”Elicit an appropriate response, for example, It's about a birthday party. If you feel your students are ready to do the exercise, you may skip this
Direct students to the questions. Read the sentences aloud, or have a student read them. Say““Read Nancy's story and answer the questions”
Monitor, offering help as needed.
Go over the answers, first having students pare their answers with a partner. Then go over the answers as a class. Encourage students to show evidence for their answers from the text.

Exercise 2
Purpose: to help students understand the meaning of adjectives in context Direct students to the box of adjectives. Read them aloud, or have a student read them. Say“Read the story again and underline the adjectives. What do they mean? Use the context of the story to help you”. Monitor, offering help as needed. If students need support, have them work in pairs.
When students have finished, go over the meanings of the adjectives.
Then ask“Why do we need so many adjectives in a passage?”Elicit an appropriate response, for example, Adjectives describe things, and when we read a story, descriptions make it interesting.

Purpose: to help students match the events of a story with three parts
Draw a line on the board that goes up and then es down again, like a hill. Write The Beginning at the beginning of the line, The Climax at the top of the“hill”and The Ending at the end of the line. Say“Look at this illustration. What do you think the climax of a story is?”Elicit or provide It's the highest point of interest in the story. If you feel your students are ready, you may skip this step.
Direct students to the events and read them aloud, or have a student read them. Then say“Read the text again and match the events with the three parts”. Monitor, offering help as needed. If students need support, have them work in pairs.
