As a high school student, I have encountered many situations where I need to compare and contrast or show contrasts. One of the most common situations is when I
write essays. In order to make my writing more persuasive,
I often use comparison and contrast to illustrate my points.
For example, when I write an essay about the advantages and disadvantages of studying abroad, I will compare the benefits of studying abroad, such as learning a new
language and culture, with the drawbacks, such as homesickness and cultural shock. By doing so, I can show
the reader a clear picture of the pros and cons of studying abroad.
Another situation where I need to show contrasts is when I give presentations. For instance, when I present a project, I will compare the different approaches my group
members took and contrast their strengths and weaknesses. This not only helps the audience to understand the project better, but it also shows that I have a good grasp of the subject matter.
