As a native of Henan province, I am proud of our unique customs and traditions. Henan is located in the central part of China and has a long history and rich culture. Our customs are deeply rooted in our history and reflect the wisdom and creativity of our ancestors.
One of the most famous customs in Henan is the Dragon Boat Festival, which is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. On this day, people eat zongzi, a kind of glutinous rice dumpling wrapped in bamboo leaves, and race dragon boats on rivers or lakes. The festival is held to commemorate the ancient poet Qu Yuan, who drowned himself in the Miluo River to protest against the corrupt government.
Another important custom in Henan is the worship of ancestors. We believe that our ancestors are still with us
and can bless us with good fortune and protection. Therefore, we often offer sacrifices to them on special occasions, such as the Spring Festival, the Qingming Festival, and the Mid-Autumn Festival.
In addition, Henan is known for its martial arts, especially Shaolin Kung Fu. Shaolin Temple, located in Dengfeng city, is the birthplace of Shaolin Kung Fu and attracts many tourists and martial arts enthusiasts from all over the world. The monks in the temple practice kung fu as a form of spiritual cultivation and self-defense.
