Others believe that creative artists should be funded by alternative sources. Discuss both views and give your own opinion. 【1】People have different views about the funding of creative artists. While some people disagree with the idea of government support for artists, I believe that money for art projects should come from both governments and other sources. Some art projects definitely require help from the state. In the UK, there are many works of art in public spaces, such as streets or squares in city centres. In Liverpool, for example, there are several new statues and sculptures in the docks area of the city, which has been redeveloped recently. These artworks represent culture, heritage and history. They serve to educate people about the city, and act as landmarks or talking points for visitors and tourists. Governments and local councils should pay creative artists to produce this kind of art, because without their funding our cities would be much less interesting and attractive. On the other hand, I can understand the arguments against government funding for art. The main reason for this view is that governments have more important concerns. For example, state budgets need to be spent on education, healthcare, infrastructure and security, among other areas. These public services are vital for a country to function properly, whereas thework of creative artists, even in public places, is a luxury. Another reason for this opinion is that artists do a job like any other professional, and they should therefore earn their own money by selling their work.In conclusion, there are good reasons why artists should rely on alternative sources of financial support, but in my opinion government help is sometimes necessary. 【2】To be of assistance or not, it indeed is debatable if artists deserve and require funding by the government. Firstly, I acknowledge that the benefits from artists and poets can enrich our everyday lives in so many different ways; otherwise our life would have been a lot drabber without them.Any genuine artist most certainly deserves some form of aid and there can not be any doubt about that, however, whether they require government assistance is another issue altogether. Contrary to popular belief it seems to be that not all artists and literary personalities are wealthy, and most renowned personalities are deservedly rich and famous. While the other large group of artists is neither rich nor famous, they do continue to produce the art works as for the passion and often the passion is what drives them. It would be ridiculous to think that any kind of financial incentives could power their creativity. However, not many of them are able to take up their passion on a full time basis because they cannot afford to. It is import to note that most creative artists are made, and were not born so. It is the vagaries of life & struggles that they have to face which fuels their creativity, in the process they need to mature into renowned to be an artist or a writer. When they do and when their work is recognized, there will not be anydearth of money or fame.In my opinion, it would be criminal to take away this very drive and shun their creativity. Having said that, I do believe that they need to have some kind of incentives, it can be in the way of appreciation and opportunity to present their talent to the rest of the world. This could be done in various ways, for instance, giving tax incentives to amateur artists and writers or financial rebates in government owned auditoriums to stage their presentations. In talking about artists in Australia, which has a concrete social security system in place to take care of all kinds of basic needs, any kind of added financial incentives are not only an added burden on the taxpayer. It would be an issue to find out worthy beneficiaries and there will be enough crooks who will misuse any well intended government assistance schemes. Every human being craves for recognition and money happens to be one of the means towards this end, however, as I mentioned in the beginning it is more important to acknowledge their work than provide financial assistance. On the other hand, as a Chinese, my perception of the government’s assistance is more questionable. Firstly, we need to give artists a definition and how do you classify a person who is an artist. In essence, calligraphy, poetry, music and art they all can be extended to a person who writes well, paints well in his/her Blog. To extend this artist sense further, can we say a singer is an artist? Well, there are many pop song and folk music singers in China. In the same way, a dancer, a talk show’s talent, a movie star, the director, the photographer they can all be artists. And this number of artists would add up to whole population of Australia. How could the Chinese government provide anyassistance without any discrimination to those artists in every classification? I personally do not believe our government has enough financial ability to accommodate this wide ganging number of artists. As a Chinese I can see that in my country, there is still a big gap between the poor and the rich, I would rather government’s financial assistance be directed toward the poor, this does not mean that I would think to provide assistance to artists is a waste of money. My point is that while we can give a true definition of artists, government should use our taxes in a way to be more accountable for.。

Traditional arts civilized a nation. Do you think government should subsidize musicians, artists, actors or drama companies? What should a government do?Traditional arts, as valuable cultural relics of a nation, are disappearing far away from the modern society. China, as one of the highly-civilized countries in the world, abound in various forms of traditional arts, such as painting, calligraphy, music, architecture and dramas, which are not only our national cultural treasures, but also a rich fortune of the world. (58 words) As essence of a local culture, traditional arts reflect a nation’s artistic talents and traditions. For example, water-color painting depicts a harmony between people and nature. Architecture illustrates a nation’s aesthetic value and religious belief. Cathedrals, highlighted by Gothic style in the Medieval, represent Christianity. Pagodas, totally different from cathedrals stylistically, are a symbol of Buddhism. Peking Opera describes the history of our country. (65 words)However, traditional arts are leaving contemporary people further and further away, one of the main reasons for which is that the authorities concerned and some institutes lack funds and professionals, which are quite essential to the research and promotion of traditional culture. Another radical reason should be attributed to the impact of western cultures on traditions. Young people, especially youngsters, are addicted to western music like rock and roll, without any knowledge about traditionalmusical instruments. With the economic globalization, traditional culture and arts will be in the danger of assimilation. How to maintain and develop traditional arts becomes the biggest concern of a government. (105 words)Firstly, the government should lay a fund for the research and promotion of traditional arts. Secondly, the research institutes and universities should work out a long-term developing scheme, organizing systematic research on traditional arts. Arts belong to a nation and the whole world as well. The prosperity of traditional arts will diversify the culture of the world.

1. Some people argue that the government should spend money on publicservices and facilities, but not on the arts. Do you agree or disagree? [Sample]:The role of arts in modern life is unique, providing people with entertainment and yielding various psychological rewards, such as relief from stress. Despite these benefits, the arts have been taken as luxury goods in many cases. It is suggested that public money of a city should be concentrated in projects like public facilities, which are more likely to bring immediate benefits to the public, rather than the arts. There are a number of facts indicating that this position is right.Public facilities, widely accepted as one of the main precursors to a city’s development, should be one of the highest priorities. Those underdeveloped cities in particular, should direct sufficient funding toward public facilities. While municipal office buildings, courthouses and post offices are essential components of public services, libraries, hospitals, parks, playing fields, gymnasiums and swimming pools are available to the public for social, educational, athletic and cultural activities. By boosting spending on public facilities, cities are more capable to satisfy the needs of citizens and improve their standard of living. In addition to social benefits, there are economic merits that public facilities can offer to communities. An integrated transport network (maritime, land and inland waterways transport and civil aviation), for example, promises the smooth and speedy movement of goods and people in a city. Industrial products, as well as agricultural produce of a city, can be delivered to other cities in exchange for steady income. Of equal importance are public Internet facilities. It is no exaggeration to say that entrepreneurs, either from home or abroad, will first examine the infrastructure of a city before deciding whether to pursue business opportunities there. The arts, by comparison, although enabling people to see the world and the human condition differently and to see a truth one might ignore before, do not merit government spending. The first reason is that the arts –referring to music, film and literature altogether – are more likely to attract the investment of the private sector than public facilities. Business people continue to invest in the arts in the expectation of earning lump sum income and the arts in return, continue to flourish without the government spending. Meanwhile, the arts are a key component of a culture and naturally passed down from one generation to another. Unlike public facilities, they require no money to survive. It is therefore clear that construction of public facilities should be given theforemost consideration. The concern about the well-being of individual citizens and that of a city is more acute than the apprehension about the survival and prospects of the arts, something that business have a stake in与…

Creative artists should be given freedom to express their ideas (words, pictures, music and films. However some people think government should take some restriction with them. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion? Give your reasons with own knowledge and give examples. The responsibility of an artist is to create artworks to cater for people’s needs for aesthesis and enjoyment. Some masterpieces by the world-renowned artists like Shakespeare, the greatest poet in British literature; Vinci, the most famous Italian painter, architect and sculptor impress the people around the world deeply. From my point of view, the government should not give restrictions to artists. On the contrary, their creativity and innovation should be encouraged. (71 words) Creativity is the source of arts. The development of literature is a very vivid illustration. From Classicism to Romanticism, from Renaissances to Realism, from Humanity to Post-modernism, (从古典主义到浪漫主义,从⽂艺复兴到现实主义,从⼈⽂主义到后现代主义) all the styles of literature reflect people’s thinking and have epoch-making significance. Suppose there were only one style of literature, people would not appreciate so abundant poetry and novels and our world would become so monotonous. Furthermore, restrictions on creativity will arouse tragedies, one of which is “Burn books and bury the literati in pits” (焚书坑儒) in Chinese history launched by Emperor Qin Shihuang, who buried the Confucian scholars alive and prohibited the dissemination of Confucian. Another tragedy was started by Emperor Yongzheng in the Qing Dynasty, who killed many creative artists and intellectuals, undermining the literal development and distorting the development of humanity. History proves that only when a government encourages people to express their own idea and thought freely, can its country make progress and prosper. Finally, I will quote a classic sentence from a famous article entitled “Give Me Liberty Or Give Me Death” by Patrick Henry, the greatest writer in American history, “I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!”

Government investment in the arts, such as music and theatre, is a waste of money. Governments must invest this money in public services instead. To what extent do you agree with this statement? These days, the government spends a large part of its budget not only on public services, but also the arts. Although I agree that it is important to spend money on public services, I do not think spending on the arts is a waste of money.

There are several reasons for spending a significant amount of the government budget on public services. First and foremost, public services are the things such as hospitals, roads and schools, and these things determine the quality of life that most of us will have. For example, if the government does not spend enough money on hospitals, the health of our society may decline. Similarly, if not enough money is spent on schools, our children may not be properly educated. Also, it will be the poor in our society that will be affected more if we do not spend enough on these things because they are the ones more dependent on such services.

Government Funding for the Arts: ANecessary InvestmentIn the realm of cultural development, the arts play a pivotal role in enriching society, promoting creativity, and fostering a sense of community. However, the questionof whether governments should fund the arts industry often sparks debate. This essay aims to delve into this discussion, exploring the reasons why government supportfor the arts is not only beneficial but also crucial for sustainable cultural growth.Firstly, government funding for the arts serves as a catalyst for innovation and creativity. Artists, being visionaries and dreamers, often require financial supportto pursue their craft. Without such support, many promising projects may never see the light of day. Government funding, therefore, acts as a launchpad for innovative ideas and projects, enabling artists to experiment and push the boundaries of their creativity.Secondly, the arts contribute significantly to anation's soft power and cultural identity. Cultural exports, such as films, music, and visual arts, are powerful toolsfor promoting a country's values and heritage. By investing in the arts, governments are effectively investing in their country's image and influence on the global stage. This is particularly important in today's interconnected world, where cultural diplomacy plays a crucial role in international relations. Moreover, the arts industry generates significant economic activity and employment opportunities. From ticket sales to merchandise, the arts contribute significantly to a country's GDP. Additionally, the arts sector employs a diverse workforce, including artists, designers, producers, and marketers, among others. By funding the arts, governments are supporting not just the artists but also the larger economic ecosystem that depends on them. However, it is important to note that government funding for the arts should not be a monolithic approach. Instead, it should be targeted, transparent, and accountable. Governments should prioritize funding for projects that align with their cultural policies and objectives, while also encouraging private sector involvement and partnerships. Transparency in fundingallocation is crucial to ensure that funds are used effectively and efficiently. Accountability mechanisms should also be established to monitor the impact and outcomes of government funding. In conclusion, government funding for the arts is a necessary investment that yields rich dividends for society. It fosters innovation, promotes cultural identity, and generates economic activity. While the approach to funding should be targeted, transparent, and accountable, theoverall benefits of supporting the arts industry far outweigh the costs. Governments, therefore, have a responsibility to prioritize funding for the arts as a critical component of their cultural and economic development strategies.**政府资助艺术产业发展:一项必要的投资**在文化发展领域,艺术对于丰富社会、促进创新和培养社区意识起着至关重要的作用。

Some people think that arts(such as painting and music)do not directly improve people's life,so government should spend money on other areas.Do you agree or disagree?

Currently a growing number of governments are investing some money in museums. Some people believe this will benefit the whole society while others maintain that the government should tighten its budget and spend the money on more important things. To my mind, the former view does make sense. We can hardly lose sight of the fact that every country prides itself on the glory of its own history. Undoubtedly, the museum, which usually boasts a collection of objects of artistic and historical value, plays a vital role in recording a country's history. By visiting museums, we can not only learn about our history and civilization, but gradually cultivate a sense of social responsibility, which normally stems from a clear understanding of mankind's history. For instance, if young people come to know what their ancestors have contributed to the development of their country, they will be inspired to dedicate themselves to the economic well-being of society. Moreover, in the museum, they will also learn something that can not be acquired from books. In addition, revelling innostalgic memories is likely to be a sort of great enjoyment and relaxation. Therefore, it will be beneficial to the whole society if the government takes the lead in funding museums. However, we have to admit that some countries, especially poor ones, may have difficulty spending a large sum of money in this respect, but they are able to organize fundraising activities so that wealthy members of society can donate money to public facilities such as museums. As far as I know, this is common practice in many countries. In the final analysis, it is quite clear that museums are treasure troves of mankind. The government, as well as the individuals, should endeavour to provide enough funds for them to be on the right track.【备注说明,非正文,实际使用可删除如下部分。

The government should spend more money on public facilities rather than on artists or artistic projects. To what extent do you agree or disagree?Government sponsorship for arts is a controversial issue, especially when the state is confronted with budget problems. Those who object to public funds for arts believe that money should be diverted to the construction of public facilities. I am of the opinion that the government should take citizens’ benefits into consideration and adjust the spending on art or infrastructures accordingly. It is first important to realize that art is an essential component of cultural legacy, so the protection and development of art has important implications to cultural diversity. In terms of painting, for example, styles, genres, tool and materials differ from culture to culture. An art form is likely to disappear, if it is not well protected. Besides, some works of art such as graffiti, spark people’s imagination and provide them with a novel perspective to view the world. Art can develop a culture in which people pursue it as a hobby. Furthermore, public art boosts the appeal of the built environment, which is reflected in the diversity of architecture and landscaping.Despite the importance of art, public facilities deserve more of government spending than art. Citizens are more interested in the availability of public facilities, as water and electricity supply, schools, libraries and roads, which have a direct impact on their daily lives. By contrast, for most people, sculptures, paintings or operas are luxury items, which cannot bring any tangible benefit to them. Another reason is that the art can sometimes yield high returns andarts include music, movies, operas and creative arts. Therefore, it is pointless to support the use of public funds for this purpose, if basic facilities are underfunded. In the light of the facts outlined above, government investment in the arts is essential to cultural diversity, the development of personal hobbies and the visual appeal of the built environment. However, in those countries whose infrastructure is inadequate, government funding for the arts may have to be reduced.Instead of asking the government to bear the cost of higher education, students should pay tuition fees themselves. Do you agree or disagree? The government has long been the major funds of university education. Those people who support government spending on education think that some students do not enroll because of learning costs. My view is that students’ personal situations should be considered, before the government decides whether to offer free education. It is worth noting that university education is the key to closing/bridging the income gap. There are numerous students, especially those from low income families, who cannot affordyears in the university, making university education an expensive option to them. Because of financial constraints, people of low socio-economic status are at a disadvantage in terms of educational opportunities and career development. By contrast, children of higher socioeconomic status are more likely to advance their education and find well-paid jobs eventually. As a consequence, the widening income gap may add uncertainty to social stability.Higher participation rates in tertiary education are also vital to economic and social development, because productivity will be improved and citizens’ morals will be strengthened. Even though government sponsorship can inspire people to receive tertiary education, it can also cause the waste of public resources. Free education may be a reason why many students are reluctant to complete their courses and enter the workforce at the earliest date. It not only adds/imposes a burden on the country but also affects state funding for other sectors, such as primary and secondary education.Let alone students’ contribution allows universities to upgrade facilities and recruit well-qualified lecturers, both important to students’ academic achievement. To summarize, the government should provide financial support according to students’ needs to ensure that they have access to education. However, tuition fees are applicable to most students, especially those from middle to high income families, as it helps maintain the quality of tertiary education.Economic progress is one way to measure the success of one country, while some people think that there are other factors. What other factors should be considered? Among these factors, do you think that any factor is more important than the others? The rapid growth of emerging economies has fuelled controversy over how to define successful countries. Regarding the distinguishing features of successful countries, people might have some shared opinions but they do not reach any agreement. I think that besides economic development, other factors should be taken into consideration.Firstly, social welfare is a significant factor, which has relevance to people’s satisfaction with life. There is ample evidence that in many developing countries, poor people do not benefit from economic growth, which is reflected in the widening gap between haves and have-nots. National wealth is not distributed evenly, as the health care service and the education system are underfunded. Among other problems, the ever-increasing cost of living and the escalating class conflict are particularly pronounced. It is also important to realize that the economic development of some countries is achieved at environment’s expenses. This has a destructive effect on the natural environment and causes the spread of different diseases.Considering these factors, economic growth should not be regarded as the main criterion for measuring a country’s success. There is a growing recognition that a successful country can ensure the fair distribution of wealth so citizens’ needs can be satisfied. People are able to acquire necessities such as food, housing, education, medical care and so forth at affordableaccess to clean water, waste disposal, sewage management and transport infrastructure. In addition, we must take into account the issue of whether or not the economic development is sustainable, namely, whether the country can provide adequate resources to feed future generations. In brief, it is premature to equate wealth with success. Living standards and sustainable development are among those factors that can be taken into consideration when a country’s success is evaluated. It is argued that we are living in a throw-away society: people throw away what they use in daily life, instead of recycling or reusing them. Why has this happened and how to address this issue? The past decade has seen a marked increase in the public’s awareness of environmental issue. The environmental impact of the use and disposal of consumer goods has become a cause for concern. It is important to focus on how this problem has happened and how to solve this problem. The main reason behind the increased consumption of products lies in the fact that people have higher income. The improvement of productivity, as well as technological innovation, hashousehold products, are increasingly affordable. Moreover, people’s fast pace of life accounts for their dependence on disposable products. The lifespan of durable products (such as mobile phones and computers) has been shortened, in large part due to the fact that these products are renewed rapidly. Furthermore, consumers are indifferent to the consequences of their behavior. The continuously growing demand for products results in enormous energy consumption as well as a substantial increase in waste and pollution. As the overconsumption of products is pervasive, it is important to take some measures to mitigate pollution. One main strategy is the use of bio-degraded materials, which can reduce the damage caused by plastic bags, packages and metals to the environment. In addition, emphasis should be placed on people’s environmental awareness, as it changes the ways in which people use and dispose of products. For example, people should be encouraged to keep old products, as long as these products function appropriately. Environmental groups should disseminate the knowledge of how to recycle disposable goods and household appliances. In conclusion, people’s attitude toward consumption and the increase in disposable income are main reasons behind excessive consumption of disposable items. To address this problem successfully, the top priority is to raise people’s awareness of environmental protection, which can lead to a change to their lifestyles.Volunteer work organized by middle schools brings more benefits than problems. To whatextent do you agree or disagree?Volunteer work has widely been promoted in many schools and even recognized as a requirement for a graduation. Despite the fact that volunteer work has its downside, it is beneficial for participants and the community as a whole. It is clear that students can improve their skills and enrich their social experience by participating in community service. When providing community service, students will encounter numerous problemsand challenges which are rare at school, such as how to introduce community service to the elderly and how to assist children in schooling. Volunteer work enables students to boost their confidence and improve problem-solving abilities, although they are sometimes not aware of this benefit. A second benefit is that students can integrate their academic experience with their practical experience. It comes as no surprise that many employers now express strong interest in those graduates with volunteer experience. The increase in the number of young volunteers is also of benefit to the community. Some services, such as those that aim to help the homeless, often have financial problems, which can be solved if young volunteers are involved. It can also raise the awareness of some social problems (such as environmental issues and animal rights) among people, especially young people. In a society where people are willing to help each other, people have a sense of belonging, which is crucial to community cohesion. The value of volunteer work is sometimes discounted by its deficiencies. We cannot rule outvolunteers’ time and energy. Another problem is the lack of flexibility, which makes volunteer work tedious and strenuous rather than stimulating and educational. Volunteers are not devoted to the service, possibly because the value of their labour is not explicit. The discussion of these factors leads to the conclusion that we should recognize the importance of volunteer work for students’ abilities, career prospects and social development. In order to rally support for volunteer work, volunteer service organizations should tailor these services to meet vounterrs’ needs.News has a remarkable influence on people’s opinions and ideas, do you think it is a positive or negative change? We are bombarded with the information presented by the news media, including newspaper, radio, television and the Internet. There is a growing recognition that news is important in forming and affecting public opinion. From a personal point of view, the undue influence of the news media is a challenge to society.More often than not, news magnifies the effect of some events, spreading anxiety throughout society. It is customary for the news media to exaggerate the magnitude of some crises or threats (such as terrorist attacks, natural disasters, serial murders and financial crises) in anoverreaction and mood swings as they will tend to believe that they are under threat constantly. Their feelings will be strong if these events occur in the vicinity. Not only does it affect their wellbeing but it also erodes their confidence in interpersonal relationships.News can also cultivate and affect one’s attitudes towards some people or events but fail to offer an insight into the truth in all cases. In choosing newsworthy events, news agencies show a preference for those events that live up to viewer s’ expectations and support their notions. For example, media coverage of crime will reinforce stereotypes about some social groups, such as minority ethnic groups, because news reports increase these people’s representation intentionally. Many news agencies obtain financial sponsorship from political parties or for-profit organizations, so they present some biased information to affect people’s opinions. There are numerous examples that illustrate this point. Some drug companies describe their products as major breakthroughs in the news media, in an effort to convince people that their products are safe rather than hazardous. It is fair to say that news causes people to form misconceptions and make unwise decisions. My concluding remark is that it is not a boon if news permeates our lives. Apart from our understanding of the world, news can have a profound impact on our behavior.A longer prison term as a way of punishing those who break the law is not as good as other methods. To what extent do you agree or disagree?Imposing sentences is considered as a method to punish those who commit a serious offence and sometimes as a correctional method. However, we sometimes note that the crime rate is soaring, despite the fact that the number of prisons is growing. In the discussion of pros and cons of imprisonment, we need to consider the severity of the offense, the age of the offender and the impact on the public. The supporters of stiff sentences believe that this kind of punishment has a deterrent effect on both prospective offenders and habitual offenders. The logic behind this idea is that imprisonment means a loss of freedom, a consequence that no rational person is willing to take. This is particularly true when it has an impact on their lives, including their career. For habitual criminals or those who commit serious crimes, a harsh sentence is also reasonable, because it can protect social order. It is difficult to convince people that a serial killer poses no threat to the public. When we oppose imprisonment, we。

The question of whether governments should impose restrictions on artistic development is a complex one, fraught with debates on freedom of expression and societal responsibility. On one hand, art is the cornerstone of human creativity and imagination, offering a window into diverse perspectives and emotions. Limiting its development would stifle innovation and suppress vital societal conversations.Art serves as a mirror, reflecting societal issues and challenging norms. It has the power to evoke empathy, inspire change, and even effect political transformations. By restricting artistic expression, governments risk silencing voices that may be critical of their policies or actions. However, it's also true that some forms of art can be controversial or even harmful, particularly when they promote violence, hate speech, or the degradation ofcertain groups. In these cases, governments have a duty to protect citizens from such content, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all.Ultimately, the balance lies in fostering anenvironment where artistic freedom thrives while also upholding societal values and safeguarding citizens' rights. Governments should encourage and support artists, recognizing their crucial role in shaping culture and society, while also implementing regulations that ensure art remains a force for good.。

【题⽬】Some people think the government should spend more money on public services rather than wasting money on art.To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

【范⽂】(1) With the development of modern society, governments are allocating more funds to building art galleries, theatres or supporting the life and work of artists. Some people disapprove the governments’ decisions and insist that the money should be spent on public services to improve people’s living standard in a more direct way. In my view, however, although funding public services is essential to social development, art is also an indispensable part of the society that should be valued. (2) It is true that establishing public services is the top priority of the government. It provides for basic human needs and guarantees the stability of the society. In China, people have been relying on public services since the day of birth. They receive education in schools founded and supported by the government. When they are sick, the government helps paying for the medical care. Besides, everybody enjoys the public facilities like highways, parks, libraries and so forth which all come from government investments.(3) However, this does not mean that the government spending money on art is unnecessary. Although people do not feed on art, it is still their natural instinct to pursue beauty. Once the survival needs are met, people start seeking spiritual fulfillments by creating and appreciating art, which helps them to calm down and relax after long hours of labor. Naturally, apart from bread and milk, the government should also take care of the spiritual life of common people.(4) Admittedly, with successful commercialised operation, many art groups perform well and do not need the financial support from the government. Yet, there are still ones that depend on government funding. For example, Peking Opera, which is a valuable cultural inheritance of China, might not have survived and thrived without the promotion by the government. It is the same with many other art forms of art all over the world.(5) In conclusion, it is the government’s duty to facilitate public services that provide for the basic needs of citizens. Nevertheless, art is also an important part of human life and deserves equal attention and support from the government.【解析】这篇⽂章中,Eileen采⽤了经典的“五段式”。

There has been an on-going heated debate on whether government shouldsubsidy various forms of arts, such as music and painting. Some see thetaxpayers’ money spent on arts as a worthwhile investment to facilitate thehealthy development of arts, which is regarded as the scream of nationalculture. Reasonable may it sounds, it can beIdontknowlly misleading. In fact, government and arts make nothing more than a noxious brew. It cannever be something of surprise after you have accepted th e truth that thegovernment’s subsidy always carries with it a danger of government interferenceand distortion. That is to say, there exists a risk of the arts to be harnessedas a political tool. Subsidized art, which is concerned with reflecting thepolitical views of the government officials who fund it, will no longer be arevelation of social temper and the general state of mind of the majority. Thus, it can be safe to conclude that the best government promotes a freesociety. Keeping the government out of the business of patronizing arts ensuresthat allparties-individuals are not forced to advance causes against theirbeliefs, while the artists are not compelled to conform to government standardsthat are prone to change with the wind of politics and popular thought. What’s more, it may seem thoroughly ridiculous for the government to splasha large sum of money on the arts, which is nothing short of a luxury for most ofthe taxpayers, while apparently we have more pressing needs, such as health careand social secure. In a nutshell, it will be a win-win policy to get the government out of theart business, with better art and more rational allocation of taxpayers’money 。

2019-02-09: Task 2
Some people think that the government should spend on big art pieces and sculptures. Discuss both of these views and give you own opinion.
Money is the worst discovery of human life but, it is the most trusted material to trust human nature. Nevertheless, there are some issues which remains irreuocable and as complex as ever. For instance, the given topic asserts that should the governance utilize money in art and cultural events as compare to other important things or not? Thought this essay, I shall explore the dimensions of this topic with illustration and examples and shape up my opinion by the end.
On one side, there is a group of people who reckon that bureaucracy should invest money in the field of art and cultural events. They strengthen their view point by claiming that both these events play highly crucial role in human life. These events provide great assistance to conserve the culture of nation. A good illustration of this is existence of ‘hawali’ in most popular city which is situated in North side of India named ‘Amritsar.’ Here, all things related to the culture were exhibit that reflects the culture andcustomer of ‘PUNJAB.’ Therefore, I have to say that government should spend money on such kind of activities. Moreover, there are art events which were organized by plethora of authorities. Art exhibition help to improve imagination power of an individual especially, in children. Beside it, it is also essential to preseve species which were extinct in the form of sketch.’Ginko biloba’ an extinct species of Flora would be the perfect epitome
On contrary side, there is an opposing group of people who believe that money should be invested by the government on other essential things such as, improving infrastructure of schools and construction of roads. To make their arguments convincing they claim that as we know,’ children are the future of nation.’ Therefore, government put more efforts to make them literate person but, it is only possible if governance provide adequate facilities for instance, good infrastructure, well equipped labs and many more facilities. So, students acquire permanent knowledge and first hand experience. As a result, obstacle related to the illetracy become overcome which leads to the development of nation. Moreover, construction and repairing of roads helps to eradicate the problem of road accident.
Nevertheless, weighing both the options, I reckon that there is no single conclusion still, I make this ground that an effective clap require both use of hands. Therefore, according to my opinion, nodoubt, art and cultural events are as important as other things but, the government should spend money on all these activities and other important things by maintaining a balance between them.。
