How much water is there on the moon? This is a question we have tried to answer for many years. A group of scientists from China and the UK found that the moon may have water “reservoirs ”, according to Nature Geoscience.Over billions of years, asteroids have hit the moon, causing the soil to melt and fly into space. It is then cooled down and falls back to the moon, forming beads of glass. The Chang’e 5 probe, which returned to Earth on Dec 17, 2020, brought back a total of 1,731 grams of rocks and soil from the moon, including glass beads, reported Xinhua. The international research team looked into 32 glass beads. They found that about one ton of glass beads may contain 0.5 kilograms of water. “This ‘water’ wasn’t a liquid but instead took the form of hydrogen in the glass beads, which can easily be turned into the water we can use,” Hui Hejiu, one of the study authors, told Science and Technology Daily.Researchers estimated that the water contained in the glass beads could reach to as much as 270 trillion kilograms. “It’s a lot more than we thought,” Hui added. The study said the hydrogen may come from the sun as part of solar winds. The glass beads have many small holes which can absorb hydrogen from the wind. This finding would be a “really big deal” for space exploration, as humans plan to settle on the moon in the future, Australian space scientist Phil Bland told ABC News.1. Paragraph 5 is written to _____.A. explain how solar winds formB. describe how the study was doneC. explain why there is hydrogen in the beadsD. show what else the study has found5. Why is the finding exciting?A. Because it can help solve the lack of water on Earth.B. Because it makes the idea of living on the moon more possible.C. Because it helps us understand the origin of Earth.D. Because it proves the success of China’s spaceexploration.B篇Energetic music fills the air as students move their arms and dance along to do aerobic exercises . This semester, students at the Aerospace City School of RDFZ in Beijing have more fun activities.“Students have different physical conditions after recovering from COVID-19,” Wang Lifang, a PE teacher at the school, told Teens. “So we start from easier activities such as dancing, fun games and sit-ups to gradually improve students’ physical health.”The PE teachers designed a series of aerobic exercises, which can train students’ core , upper body and leg strength.

As a top student, I have always strived for excellence in my academic pursuits. I believe that being a top student is not just about getting high grades, but also about having a thirst for knowledge and a passion for learning. 。

I remember one time when I was in my physics class, the teacher was explaining a complex concept that many of my classmates were struggling to understand. Instead of just sitting back and letting the teacher do all the work, Itook it upon myself to ask questions and seek clarification.I wasn't afraid of looking foolish in front of my peers, because I knew that understanding the material was more important than saving face. My willingness to engage in active learning and my determination to understand the material set me apart as a top student.Another example of my dedication to academic excellence is when I was preparing for a difficult history exam.Instead of just memorizing facts and dates, I took the time to truly understand the context and significance of the events we were studying. I delved into different perspectives and interpretations, and I was able to form my own well-informed opinions. This not only helped me excelin the exam, but also deepened my understanding of history as a whole.Being a top student is not just about being book-smart, but also about being able to think critically and apply knowledge in real-world situations. For example, when I was part of a group project in my economics class, I took the lead in analyzing data and formulating a comprehensive plan.I was able to apply the theories we learned in class to come up with practical solutions, and our project received high praise from our professor.

It is with great honor and immense pride that I stand before you today to share my thoughts and experiences as a student who has achieved excellence in English studies. As an English尖子生, I have had the pleasure of exploring the vast and beautiful world of literature, linguistics, and communication. Today, I would like to reflect on the journey that has brought me to this point and the values that have shaped my academic pursuits.Firstly, I must acknowledge the importance of passion and curiosity. It is the love for the language and the desire to understand its nuances that drives us to excel. English, as a global lingua franca, has opened up numerous opportunities for me to connect with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds. My journey began with a simple fascination for the way words could paint pictures and tell stories. Over time, this fascination transformed into a deep-seated passion for English literature, which has enriched my life in countless ways. One of the key factors that contributed to my success in English studies is the unwavering support of my teachers and family. They have been my pillars of strength, encouraging me to pursue my dreams and providing me with the resources I needed to grow. Their belief in my abilities has instilled in me the confidence to face challenges and strive for excellence. I am deeply grateful for their guidance and for the countless hours they have invested in my education.Another essential element in my academic journey has been thecultivation of critical thinking skills. English is not just about reading and writing; it is about analyzing and interpreting texts. By honing my analytical abilities, I have been able to appreciate the complexities of literature and the underlying messages conveyed by authors. This has not only enriched my understanding of the subject but also taught me to think critically about the world around me.Furthermore, I believe that practice makes perfect. Engaging in various activities such as debate clubs, public speaking, and writing workshops has greatly enhanced my language skills. These experiences have allowed me to express my thoughts clearly and effectively, both in written and spoken forms. The ability to communicate persuasively is a crucial skillin today's interconnected world, and I am grateful for the opportunities that have enabled me to develop this skill. In addition to my academic pursuits, I have also embraced the cultural aspects of English language and literature. By exploring the works of Shakespeare, the romantic poets, and contemporary authors, I have gained a deeper appreciation for the diverse cultural heritages that have shaped the language. This exposure has not only broadened my horizons but has also taught me to respect and understand different perspectives.Looking back on my journey, I have learned several valuable lessons that I would like to share with my fellow students. Firstly, never underestimate the power of curiosity and passion. They are the driving forces behind any successful endeavor. Secondly, surround yourself with supportive individuals who believe in your potential. They will provide you with the motivation and encouragement you need to reach your goals. The world of English is vast and ever-evolving, and there is always something new to discover. In conclusion, my journey as an English尖子生 has been a testament to the power of dedication, perseverance, and a love for the language.

Being a top student in high school means different things to different people. For me, it's not just about getting good grades, but also about being actively involved in extracurricular activities and contributing to the school community.I believe that being a top student is not just about academic achievement, but also about being a well-rounded individual. This means participating in clubs, sports, and volunteer work to develop leadership skills and contribute to the school community. In addition to excelling in academics, top students also need to be able to communicate effectively and work well with others. This means being able to collaborate with peers, communicate ideas clearly, and listen actively to others' perspectives. One of the challenges of being a top student is findinga balance between academic demands and personal well-being. It's important to prioritize self-care and mental health, and not to let the pressure of high achievement take a toll on one's overall well-being.Being a top student also means being open to learning from failure and setbacks. It's important to be resilient and to see challenges as opportunities for growth and development, rather than as obstacles to success.Overall, being a top student is about more than just getting good grades – it's about being a well-rounded individual who is actively engaged in the school community, communicates effectively, prioritizes personal well-being, and is open to learning from failure.。

In the hallowed halls of the prestigious Whiz Kid Academy, a place where intellects are as sharp as the pencils theychew on, there was a legend that circulated among the students. It was the tale of the "Top Student Study Plan," a mystical document that held the secrets to academic dominance. Our story begins with a young prodigy named Tim, who, despite his impeccable grades and a brain that could rival Einstein's, was on a quest for the ultimate study plan. Hehad heard whispers of this legendary document, rumored to be hidden somewhere in the labyrinthine library of the academy. One fateful day, Tim stumbled upon a dusty, old tome tucked away in the darkest corner of the library. The bookwas bound in leather, with a golden emblem of a quill and a scroll. As he opened it, a gust of wind blew through the library, as if the very air was excited to reveal its secrets. The first page read, "Greetings, seeker of knowledge. To wield the power of the Top Student Study Plan, you must first embrace the three pillars of success: Discipline, Curiosity, and Humor."Discipline, Tim knew well. He had been rising at thecrack of dawn, studying before the sun had even blinked its first rays of the day. Curiosity was his middle name; he was always probing, questioning, and thirsting for more knowledge. But humor? How could laughter possibly aid in his academic conquest? As he delved deeper into the pages, he discovered that humor was the secret sauce to learning. It was the key to unlocking the mind's potential, a way to make the mundane magical. The book was filled with funny mnemonic devices, jokes that explained complex theories, and puns that made even the driest subjects sparkle. For instance, there was a section on the periodic table that was presented as a rap battle between the elements. Hydrogen, the lightest of them all, had a flow that could make the heaviest of metals dance. And then there was the chapter on history, where the French Revolution was retold as a sitcom, with Marie Antoinette as the bumbling sitcom mom who just couldn't get her cake right.Tim realized that the Top Student Study Plan wasn't just about memorizing facts. It was about engaging with the material, finding joy in the journey, and turning the pursuit of knowledge into an adventure. He started incorporating humor into his studies, and soon enough, his peers noticed a change. The once-serious atmosphere of the academy was now filled with laughter and light-hearted banter. In the end, Tim didn't just become the top student; he became a beacon of joy and inspiration for his fellow scholars. And the Top Student Study Plan? It became a treasured part of the academy's legacy, a reminder that learning can be both rigorous and ridiculously fun.And so, the legend of the Top Student Study Plan lived on, a testament to the power of laughter and the unquenchablethirst for knowledge. And for anyone who dared to seek it out, it promised not just academic success, but a life filled with wit, wisdom, and the occasional well-timed dad joke.。

Anewspaper is even more remarkable for the way one reads it never completely, never straight through, but always by jumping from here to there, in andout, glancing at one piece, reading another article all the way through, reading just a few paragraphs of the ne_t. A good modern newspaper offers a variety toattract many different readers, but far more than any one reader is interestedin. what brings this variety together in one place is its topicality(时事性), its immediate relation to what ishappening in your world and your locality now. It isoften tempting(诱惑)to hurry the child beyond hisnatural learning rate, but this can set up dangerous feelings of failure andstates of worry in the child. This might happen at any stage. A baby might beforced to use a toilet too early, a young child might be encouraged to learn toread before he knows the meaning of the words he reads. On the other hand, though, if a child is left alone too much, or without any learningopportunities(机会), he loses his natural enthusiasm(热情)for life and his desire to find out newthings for himself.Parents vary greatly in their degree of strictness towards their children. The simple reason forthis is that there are more different ways of looking at things present in thefirst kind of society. There are more ideas, more disagreements in interest, and more groups and organizations with different beliefs. In addition(此外), there is usually a greater worldlyinterest and greater tolerance(容忍)inmi_ed societies. All these factors tend to promote social change by opening more areas of life to decision. In a society where people are quite similar inmany ways, there are fewer occasions for people to see the need or the opportunity(机会)for change because everythingseems to be the same. And although conditions may not be satisfactory, they areat least customary and undisputed(明白的).Within a society, social change is also likely to occur more frequently and more readily in thematerial aspects(方面)of the culture than in the non-material, for e_ample, in technology rather than in values; in what has beenlearned later in life rather than what was learned early, in the less basic andless emotional aspects of society rather than in their opposites; in the simpleelements rather than in the comple_(复杂的)ones; form rather than in substance(物质);andin elements(元素)that are acceptable to theculture rather than in strange elements.Furthermore, social change is easier if it is gradual. For e_ample, it comesmore readily in human relations on a continuous scale(规模)rather than one with sharp dichotomies(一分成). This is one reason why change has not come more quickly to Black Americans as compared to other American minorities, because of the sharp difference in appearance between them and their white counterparts.68. The passage is mainly discussing________.A. two different societiesB. the necessity of social changeC. certain factors that determine the ease(容易)withwhich social changes occurD. certain factors that promote social change________.69. According to the passage, which of the following is NOT true?A. Social change tends to meet with more difficulty in basic and emotional aspects of society.B. Disagreement with and argument about conditions tends to slow down socialchange.C. Social change is more likely to occur in the material aspect of society.D. Social change is less likely to occur in what people learned when they wereyoung.70. Social change is less likely to occur in a society where people are quitesimilar in many ways because________.A. people there have got so accustomed(习惯于)to their conditions that they seldom think it necessary to changeB. people there have identical needs that can be satisfied without much difficultyC. people there are easy to pleaseD. people there are less disputatious(好争辩的)第四部分:写作(共两节,满分35分)第一节:短文改错(共10小题;每小题1分,满分10分)A.There are any very good thingsabout open education. They are much admired by other students and much appreciated by their teachers and their parents alike. Although most of us are just average students with average intelligence, who can honestly say that he or she never has thought of becoming a top student? Many people think that top students are genius, but according to my observation, top students are just average students who have the following characteristics. To begin with, top students seem to have clear and concrete goals in their life. They know what they want and will never give up whatever difficulties they come across. Next, top students seem to have very good study habits. They listen to the teachers attentively and answer the teachers' questions actively in class and do what the teachers ask them to do after class. They read other books related to the subject to widen their scope of knowledge. Finally, top students seem to have a wide variety of interests. They engage themselves in att kinds of activities. As a result, they atso excel in other aspects.I am also determined to become a top student. I witt regard the top students as my rote models and witt go out of my way to get to know them and learn from them.。

They’re not really bad guests, but because the guest-host relationship in China is much different than in some western counties, it appears they are not nice guests. And western guests sometimes look rude (粗鲁的) in the eyes of Chinese guests. In China, guests are almost like gods. Whenever I enter a Chinese person’s home, there is always fruit on the table for me, and someone is quick to bring me a cup of tea or water. In the west, generally the guest is not a god. Acting according to the host’s way of doing things is usual behavior for a guest. My wife’s mother, a very kind elderly Chinese lady, doesn’t smoke. When I see some of her guests smoking in her house, as a non-smoker, I feel unhappy. Usually I want to stop them directly, but I must realize that in China, to be a good host, she must not do that. In most North America homes, if you are a guest, and the hosts are not smokers, you should not smoke in their house. At the very least, you could ask, “Is it OK if I smoke?” “But, don’t be surprised if they say, “No, you can’t smoke.” In our culture, if you smoke in their home, you are a bad guest, but if they don’t allow you to smoke in their house, they a re not a rude guest.Guests in China also have special habits. Some western people may not adapt to these habits very soon. Thankfully my wife is Chinese, so whenever we visit a Chinese family she tells me to buy them a gift. However, giving a gift to a host is not always necessary in my country. So, if you invite international guests to your home, don’t be too surprised if they don’t bring you a gift.In China, you probably won't need to change the guest-host relationship very much because you will probably only be the host, and Chinese are naturally very good hosts. If western hosts invite you to their house, try not to be too surprised if their style of treating you is not what you have expected.46. Many foreigners think that Chinese hosts are the _________in the world.A. bestB. worstC. most naturalD. most difficult47. When a western guest visits a Chinese family, he often _________.A. buys some fruitB. feels like a godC. wants some giftsD. takes a cup of tea48. If the writer’s guests want to smoke in his house, what will he probably say?A. It’s OK if you smoke here.B. Let’s smoke together.C. Sorry, you can’t smoke here.D. Smoking is a bad habit.49. What is the meaning of the underlined phrase “adapt to” in the passage?A. think back toB. get used toC. look forward toD. keep close to50. What is the main idea of this passage?A. Foreigners should learn from Chinese.B. Hosts must do things in the guest’s way.C. Western hosts are always nice to guests.D. People should understand cultural differences.CIt is true that people with better education are usually able to get better paying jobs. In other words, they have more chances to choose a good job while people with little or no education don’t. It seems that the purpose of education is to make people get jobs. But this isn’t accepted by all people. Some people may think that a person should spend the best years of his life to get education only for a way of living. This was probably one of the earliest reasons of education. In fact, if education is just a way of making a living, people don’t need to spend so much time in school. People can get education for a living in a short time. Subjects like history and geography need not be taught to everyone. Even language and mathematics need not be taught in detail(详细地), either. Here it is clear that education is much more than teaching a man to get a way of living.Education is well-rounded and it is mainly for improving a man. It is not only to teach him to speak, read and write, but also to develop his creative thinking and other abilities. After that, it is to make him a wise man and thankfully enjoy the achievements of human. Education is to make a man lead a better life. Educated people are expected to be able to listen to good music, read good books, watch plays and most of all take an interest in the world.I would agree that making a good living is an important reason for education, but certainly not the most important or the main reason.51 People with little education usually .A. spend a long time in schoolB. have a good chance to get a jobC. spend the best years to choose jobsD. have fewer chances to get a good job52. The earliest education was probably to .A. make a man lead a better lifeB. teach a man to write and readC. make people get a way of livingD. teach people to read good books53.The underlined word “well-rounded” in the passage means ““in Chinese.A. 圆满的B. 崭新的C.公平的 D. 全面的54. It is expected that educated people will be able to .A. accept education as a way of livingB. take an interest in the whole worldC. develop their abilities to make playsD. learn subjects like language and math55.
