Chinese New Year Celebration is the most important celebration of the year. Chinese people may celebrate the Chinese New Year in slightly different ways but their wishes are almost the same; they want their family members and friends to be healthy and lucky during next year.
春节庆祝活动是一年中最重要的庆祝活动。
中国人庆祝春节的方式可能略微不同,但其愿望几乎是相同的,他们希望其家人和朋友来年健康和幸运。
Chinese New Year Celebration usually lasts for 15 days. Celebratory activities include Chinese New Feast, firecrackers, giving lucky money to children, the New Year bell ringing and Chinese New Year Greetings. Most of Chinese people will stop the celebrating in their home on the 7th day of New Year because the national holiday usually ends around that day, however celebrations in public areas can last until the 15th day of New Year.
春节庆祝活动通常持续15天。
庆祝活动包括春节的年夜饭,放鞭炮,给儿童压岁钱,春节钟声和春节问候。

House Cleaning
房屋打扫
To clean houses on the New Year Eve is a very old custom dating back to thousands of years ago. The dust is traditionally associated with “old” so cleaning their houses and sweeping the dust mean to bid farewell to the “old” and usher in the “new”. Days before the New Year, Chinese families clean their houses, sweeping the floor, washing daily things, cleaning the spider webs and dredging the ditches. People do all these things happily in the hope of a good coming year.
春节打扫房屋这个非常古老的习俗甚至可以追溯到几千年前。
灰尘在传统上与“旧”联系在一起,所以打扫房屋和扫除灰尘意味着辞“旧”迎“新”。
春节的前几天,中国的各家各户都打扫房屋,扫地,清洗日用品,清除蛛网和疏浚沟渠。

One of the house decorations is to post couplets on doors. On the Spring Festival couplets, good wishes are expressed. New Year couplets are usually posted in pairs as even numbers are associated with good luck and auspiciousness in Chinese culture.

People in north China are used to posting paper-cut on their windows. When sticking the window decoration paper-cuts, people paste on the door large red Chinese character “fu”A red "fu"means good luck and fortune, so it is customary to post "fu"on doors or walls on auspicious occasions such as wedding, festivals.
在中国北方,人们习惯于在窗户上贴剪纸。
人们既在窗户上贴剪纸,又在大门上贴上大大的红色汉字“福”字,一个红色“福”字意味着好运和财富,因此习惯上在婚礼,节日之类的吉祥场合中,人们都会在门或墙上贴“福”字。
Waiting for the First Bell Ringing of Chinese New Year
等待春节的第一声钟鸣
The first bell ringing is the symbol of Chinese New Year. Chinese people like to go to a large squares where there are huge bells are set up on New Year’s Eve. As the New Year approaches they count down and celebrate together. The people believe that the ringing of huge bell can drive all the bad luck away and bring the fortune to them. In recent years, some people have begun going to mountain temples to wait for the first ringing. Hanshan Temple in Suzhou, is very famous temple for its first ringing of the bell to herald Chinese New Year. Many foreigners now go to Hanshan Temple to celebrate Chinese New Year.
第一次钟声是春节的象征。
中国人喜欢到一个大广场,那里有为除夕设置的大钟。
随着春节的临近,他们开始倒计数并一起庆祝。

Staying up late ("Shousui")

Shousui means to stay up late or all night on New Year's Eve. After the great dinner, families sit together and chat happily to wai t for the New Year’s arrival.
守岁意味着除夕夜不睡觉。
年夜饭后,家人聚坐一起,愉快聊天,等待春节的到来。
New Year Feast
年夜饭
Spring Festival is a time for family reunion. The New Year's Feast is "a must" banquet with all the family members getting together. The food eaten on the New Year Eve banquet varies according to regions. In south China, It is customary to eat "niangao" (New Year cake made of glutinous rice flour) because as a homophone, niangao means "higher and higher every year". In the north, a traditional dish for the feast is "Jiaozi" or dumplings shaped like a crescent moon.
春节是与家人团聚的时间。
年夜饭是所有家庭成员聚在一起“必须”的宴会。
除夕宴会上吃的食物根据不同的地区各不相同。
在中国南方,习惯吃“年糕”(糯米粉制成的新年糕

Setting Firecrackers
燃放鞭炮
Lighting Firecrackers used to be one of the most important customs in the Spring Festival celebration. However, concerning the danger and the negative noises that lighting firecrackers may bring, the government has banned this practice in many major cities. But people in small towns and rural areas still hold to this traditional celebration. Right as the clock strikes 12 o'clock midnight of New Year's Eve, cities and towns are lit up with the glitter from fireworks, and the sound can be deafening. Families stay up for this joyful moment and kids with firecrackers in one hand and a lighter in another cheerfully light their happiness in this especial occasion, even though they plug their ears.
放鞭炮曾是春节庆祝活动中最重要的习俗之一。
然而,担心燃放鞭炮可能会带来危险和烦人的噪音,政府已在许多大城市下令禁止燃放鞭炮。
但在小城镇和农村地区的人们仍然坚持这种传统的庆祝活动。

New Year Greetings(Bai Nian)

On the first day of the New Year or shortly thereafter, everybody wears new clothes and greets relatives and friends with bows and Gongxi (congratulations), wishing each other good luck, happiness during the new year. In Chinese villages, some villagers may have hundreds of relatives so they have to spend more than two weeks visiting their relatives.
在春节第一天或此后不久,大家都穿着新衣服,带着弓向亲戚和朋友打招呼并恭喜(祝贺),彼此祝愿在新的一年里好运,幸福。
在中国农村,有些村民可能有数以百计的亲戚,所以他们不得不拿出两个多星期来走亲访友。
On the first day of the new year, it’s customary for the younger generations to visit the elders, wishing them healthy and longevity.
春节第一天,按习惯,小一辈人要拜见老一辈,祝愿他们健康长寿。
Because visiting relatives and friends takes a lot of time, now, some busy people will send New Year cards to express their good wishes rather than pay a visit personally.
因为探亲访友花费大量时间,所以,现在有些忙碌的人就送春节贺卡来表达他们的良好祝愿,而不是亲自去拜访。
Lucky Money
压岁钱
It is the money given to kids from their parents and grandparents as New Year gift. The money is believed to bring good luck, ward off monsters; hence the name "lucky money". Parents and grandparents first put money in small, especially-made red envelopes and give the red envelopes to their kids after the New Year's Feast or when they come to visit them on the New Year. They choose to put the money in red envelopes because Chinese people think red is a lucky color. They want to give their children both lucky money and lucky color.
这是孩子们的父母和祖父母给他们作为春节礼物的钱。

It's time for a new year and a new you, but perhaps your heart is not in it this time around. Maybe you're jaded from too many failed New Year's resolutions, or maybe you're just not feeling motivated these days. Here are a few reasons why you may not be feeling it:
新年到了你也该有新面貌。
但也许你的心还没有做好准备。
也许你厌倦了太多失败的新年决心,也许最近你感觉没什么动力。

1. It's medical.
身体原因。
Check with your doctor to see if the reason for your lethargy is medically related. Perhaps you're depressed or low on iron — there are plenty of medical conditions that can cause you to be too tired to be motivated, so try to figure out if a medical condition is the cause of it.
去找医生做个检查,看看你的死气沉沉是不是和医学因素有关。
也许你是抑郁或者缺乏铁元素——有许多身体原因都可以让你过于疲惫从而缺乏动力,所以要看看这是否是身体原因导致的。
2. You're comfortable.

If your life is quite comfortable, you may lose motivation to push yourself to grow. Keep in mind that it's always good to get out of your comfort zone, because that's the only way you can improve yourself. Do something you're hesitant about every week, and you'll find yourself getting used to it or even looking forward to the challenge after some time. It can be something small like asking someone you
just met out for lunch, or a bigger move like giving honest feedback to your boss.
如果你的生活十分安逸,你也许会失去推动自己进一步成长的动力。
记住,让自己跳出舒适区总是有益的,因为这是你自我提升的唯一办法。

If you set unrealistic expectations, you are setting yourself up for higher chances of failing, which can cause you to lose motivation. Make sure your goals are actually achievable before setting them.

4. You've given up.

After so many failures, you may be immune to tackling challenges. It can be scary to put yourself out there again, but the greater the risk, the greater the rewards! If you're extremely gun-shy, take baby steps so you'll feel more confident once you manage to score small achievements.

5. People around you.

Maybe you have someone in your life who brings you down, perhaps out of their own insecurities or maybe because they can't adjust to the idea of a different you. Try to explain your reasons for attempting a change to them and ask for their support. If they can't come to terms with it, perhaps it's better to keep your distance until they come around.
也许你的生活中有些人在拖你的后腿,也许是他们自己缺乏安全感,也许是因为他们不习惯接受一个不一样的你。
试着向他们解释你试图改变的原因,并且寻求他们的支持。

Remember, the first step to overcoming obstacles is to figure out what's blocking you. Once you come to a better understanding, it'll be easier to get going and find your motivation again.

I am always amazed at those who think they are going to drift along until everything just falls into place for them. It’s just not going to happen.

You can sit around waiting for the world to bring you your dreams on a silver platter. Or you can go out and get them. And do them yourself.

Take a close look at those that you consider successful. Did they just wait until it happened? Or did they work long and hard to get where they are?

Being lucky is about doing, and that being said, you can increase your luck. Here are just a few ways to increase your luck:

1. Be Early

Being early breeds serendipity. Really. When you are early for things, even meetings and appointments, magical things tend to happen. That is when chance happens.

2. Finish Before Deadlines

Similar to being early, is finishing tasks or projects ahead of schedule. When there is adequate time to review and deliver right, is when extraordinary results occur.

3. Go Outside Your Domain

We all tend to stay in our comfort zones. It is when you stray outside your normal elements that you often discover new luck. So, get out there and go beyond your normal boundaries.

4. Raise the Bar

5. Don’t Follow the Rules

Rules were meant to be broken. Or rather maybe they are “just guidelines.” This is not about doing anything crazy or unethical, it is about challenging the status quo and the norm. Don’t be normal when it comes to the rules.

6. Be Prepared

7. Do One More Thing

Those who are lucky do more than those who are not. Make it a habit to always
“do one more thing.” Whether it is finishing a job right, or one last task at the end of a long day. Do it every day for a year and you will have taken 365 more steps towards your goals than those who don’t give the extra effort.
那些好运的人总是比霉运的人做的多。
养成总是“多做一件事”的习惯。

It is all about hard work. Want to be lucky? Make your own. Get out there and do instead of waiting for it to come to you. Being lucky is easy, but it takes a lot of hard work.

In the past 10 years, I've realized that our culture is rife with ideas that actually inhibit joy. Here are some of the things I'm most grateful to have unlearned: 过去十年里,我意识到我们的文化虽然充满了想法却也抑制了快乐。

1. Problems are bad.

You spent your school years solving arbitrary problems imposed by boring authority figures. You learned that problems suck. Real problems are wonderful, each carrying the seeds of its own solution. Job burnout? It's steering you toward your perfect career. An awful relationship? It's teaching you what love means. Confusing tax forms? They're suggesting you hire an accountant. Finding the solution to each problem is what gives life its gusto.

2. It's important to stay happy.

Solving a knotty problem can help us be happy, but we don't have to be happy to feel good. If that sounds crazy, try this: Focus on something that makes you miserable. Then think, "I must stay happy!" Stressful, isn't it? Now say, "It's okay to be as sad as I need to be." This kind of permission to feel as we feel—not continuous happiness—is the foundation of well-being.
解决一个棘手的难题能让我们很开心,但我们可不能为了开心而开心。
如果这听起来有点晕的话,那我换个表述:想想那些让你难过的事情,然后告诉自己“我必须开心”。

3. I'm irreparably damaged by my past.

Painful events leave scars, true, but it turns out they're largely erasable. Jill Bolte Taylor, the neuroanatomist who had a stroke that obliterated her memory, described the event as losing "37 years of emotional baggage." Now it appears we can all effect a similar shift, without having to endure a brain hemorrhage. The very thing you're doing at this moment—questioning habitual thoughts—is enough to begin off-loading old patterns. For example, take an issue that's been worrying you and think of three reasons that belief may be wrong. Your brain will begin to let it go.

When I bewailed this to a friend, she said, "Wow, you have some painful fantasies about other people's fantasies about you." Yup, my anguish came from my hypothesis that other people's hypothetical hypotheses about me mattered. Ridiculous! Right now, imagine what you'd do if it absolutely didn't matter what people thought of you. Got it? Good. Never go back.
“如果我失败了,人们就会看不起我了!”你也许会这样想。

Oh, God. So not true. I unlearned this after years of coaching beautiful clients. Yes, these lovelies get preferential treatment in most life scenarios, but there's
a catch: While everyone's looking at them, virtually no one sees them. Almost every gorgeous client had a husband who'd married her breasts and jawline without ever noticing her soul.
天哪,这绝对不是正确的。
辅导一些美女客户时,我才发现这种想法是多么错误。
这些可人儿的确能得到更多的生活优待,但不得不提,当每个人看她们的时候,没有人真正欣赏她们。

6. If all my wishes came true right now, life would be perfect.

Check it out: People who have what you want are all over rehab clinics, divorce courts, and jails. That's because good fortune has side effects, just like medications advertised on TV. Basically, any external thing we depend on to make us feel good has the power to make us feel bad. Weirdly, when you've stopped depending on tangible rewards, they often materialize. To attract something you want, become as joyful as you think that thing would make you. The joy, not the thing, is the point.
想想吧:拥有你想要的一切的人们,也许正在康复中心、离婚法庭和监狱。
这是因为和药物电视广告一样,财富也会有副作用。
事实上,所有能给我们带来快乐的外界东西都会给我们带来伤害。

7. Loss is terrible.

Ten years ago I still feared loss enough to abandon myself in order to keep things stable. I'd smile when I was sad, pretend to like people who appalled me. What I now know is that losses aren't cataclysmic if they teach the heart and soul their natural cycle of breaking and healing. A real tragedy? That's the loss of the heart and soul themselves. If you've abandoned yourself in the effort to keep anyone or anything else, unlearn that pattern. Live your truth, losses be damned. Just like that, your heart and soul will return home.
十年前,我仍希望一切如旧,害怕失去。
难过的时候我会微笑,假装喜欢那些我厌恶的人们。

Failure sucks. But if your planning on doing anything important you are going
to have to get used to it. Embarrassment, frustration and even bad situations you can’t control are going to be part of life. What can you actually do about them instead of jus t having a “positive attitude?”
失败的感觉糟透了。
但是如果你打算做任何重要的事情,你就必须要习惯这种感觉。
难堪、沮丧,甚至是一些你无法控制的糟糕的情况都会是生活中的一部分。

1. Find a Meaning

Ask yourself how you can use the bad experience. Here are some ways you can find a meaning in your situation to move past it:

What has it taught you?
它教给你什么?
Has it made you stronger/kinder/wiser?
它是否让你更坚强/更善良/更睿智?
Even simply enduring a bad moment has meaning in making your happy moments better.
哪怕只是单纯地忍受一段糟糕的时间也有它的意义:让你的快乐时光显得更快乐。
2. Keep a Failure Log
写失败日志
Keep track of any failures, embarrassments or blunders. Using a failure log you can give yourself a little checkmark of accomplishment. It may seem odd to reward failures in this way, but rewarding your failures serves two main purposes: 记录你经历的任何失败、难堪或错误。
通过写失败日志你可以发现自己都犯过那些错误。
这样对待失败似乎有些奇怪,但它有两个主要目的:
It makes you more willing to take chances when the only risk is to your pride.
当唯一的风险是你的自尊时,你会更愿意冒险。
It causes you to focus more on learning and growth than external recognition.

I’ve even heard from other people that if they don’t have at least a few major failures each year, they don’t believe they were trying hard enough.
