Why are some people so lucky and others are not? It is a surprise that these lucky people are just common people as you and me. 16
They properly use the time.
Lucky people always use their time in a wise way and make the most of every day because time is flying. One day, you are 16 years old and have your whole life in front of you, and then, you suddenly wake up at 40 years old. Yes, this is how quickly time flies. 17
They consider themselves lucky.
Lucky people believe that they are lucky, 18 Thus, they are always in a good position and see only challenges, not obstacles (阻碍) in front of them.
Here, I’m not talking about blind positivity. I’m talking about realistic optimism—an ability to be positive without turning a blind eye to problems and negative emotions (消极情绪).
19
Lucky people are not controlled by stress and they manage to keep their temper (脾气) at any time. This helps them remain calm and focus on what they do. Fortunately, methods of dealing with emotions and stressful situations are available for everyone, and with some practice, you can master them.
20 You can learn from these habits to get luck on your side.
When I was young, I learned lots of Chinese characters (汉字). My parents bought me books with simple Chinese characters. They explained every simple character patiently and made me understand the meaning of each character. My grandfather used to teach Chinese, and he often guided me to write the Chinese character “he” which means “harmony (和谐)” in English.
When I was a little older, I often met some difficulties in my life. At home, I often disagreed with my sisters. At school, I sometimes argued with my classmates. When these things happened, I was asked to think about the word “he” on paper. It shows that peace and harmony are the most valuable things for our Chinese nation. And we should value relationships with others. We should choose to be kind, polite and honest to families and friends to build harmonious family and social relationships.
Now I understand the Chinese character “he” is one of the most important parts of traditional culture. We should have it i n our hearts. Harmony is the value that influences the Chinese people’s psychology (心理), thinking style and behavior.
Our most valuable ideas and culture are behind simple characters. They not only teach us how to be
a good person but also teach us how to live peacefully with others.
